North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 671: 428 is really angry

Jimmy followed the police car to the station, where they verified his identity and, after confirming there were no issues, did not restrict his movements.

Riley was the fastest; Newark is right on the western side of Jersey City, and the two cities are adjacent, so Riley was naturally familiar with the roads here.

Riley, "Hey, Jimmy. How are you? You hurt?"

Jimmy stood up from the sofa and shook hands with Riley, "No, I noticed before that they were following me, just didn't expect them to make a move before we even left town. Riley, you didn't have to come over. How's the bombing case on your end?"

Riley, "The forensic team is already gathering evidence and identifying the bodies. The explosion happened in a detached house, the neighboring properties weren't too badly damaged, two victims and three neighbors were injured."

Jimmy, "Is it related to the previous bombings?"

Riley, "It's still unclear at the moment, we are waiting for the results from forensics. We wanted you here hoping you could assist us with this case. When it comes to serial bombings, you've got the most experience, our detectives here have at most dealt with isolated, random explosions."

Jimmy sighed, "Riley, I'd love to help you guys, I came here wanting to solve this case, but now, I may not be able to continue, I need to return to New York."

Riley, "Just one attack, is it really necessary?"

Jimmy shook his head, "Not one, it's the second time in the past few days, on Monday two guys on a motorcycle took shots at me from behind."

Riley's eyes widened, "WTF! Have you angered someone?"

Jimmy, "Still unclear, I need to get back to New York as soon as possible to investigate this. A single attack might be an accident, but consecutive ones are definitely orchestrated by someone behind the scenes."

Riley, "I got it, you head back then. If you need any help, just say the word, we're all colleagues, no need to be polite."

Jimmy, "Thanks, please inform the station for me, I'll need to take four gunmen back with me."

Riley, "No problem, I'll handle it."

Without delay, Riley turned and left the visitor's room to coordinate with the station, while Jimmy took out his phone and called Mahong.

Jimmy, "Mahong, you haven't arrived in Jersey City, have you?"

Philicia, "Jimmy, it's Philicia. Mahong is driving; we're already at the Lincoln Tunnel, we'll be in Jersey City soon."

Jimmy, "You've left Manhattan already? Okay, I've asked Riley, an agent from Newark, to help coordinate. We should be able to take the gunmen back to New York soon."

Philicia, "Are the gunmen alive?"

Jimmy, "When the ambulance arrived, two were alive, a driver and a gunman. They're now in the hospital, both shot."

Philicia, "Understood, we'll be there soon."

-----------------

Mahong and Philicia entered, wearing FBI badges on their chests, which served as their passes. If Jimmy hadn't resorted to shooting and a car chase, the police wouldn't have specifically checked his ID.

Jimmy introduced them to Riley, and with his help, the station agreed to let them take both the men and the damaged car back. Of course, the costs for towing and ambulance services would be on them, but this was no issue for Jimmy as long as the situation was handled.

Mahong and Jimmy stepped aside and went over the events that had occurred on the road in detail, from the moment Jimmy noticed something odd until the car chase and gunfight began. Mahong urged Jimmy to recall everything thoroughly, to see if anything had been missed; Jimmy also shared some of his own speculations.

Jimmy, "Now we must investigate the mole. I only got the car yesterday afternoon, got the keys from Tim Dunn, then made a trip home before heading out to Jersey City. And they managed to catch up to me in the tunnel, which means our mole inside holds a quite high position."

Mahong nodded, "It seems like you can't just go about your business lately. Before we catch the mole, why not just stick to desk duty at the office?"

Jimmy shook his head, "That won't do, hiding from them achieves nothing compared to drawing them out. They've already lost four men. If we can get them to lose a few more, maybe the person behind the scenes will have to come out."

Mahong patted Jimmy's shoulder, "You can't expect to be lucky every time and dodge it. Not getting hurt once or twice doesn't mean you'll always come out unscathed."

Jimmy grinned broadly, then glanced around, hushed his laughter, and said quietly, "Them? Send ten more and it's still death on arrival. If it weren't for the clues, none of the four would have lived."

Mahong knew well of Jimmy's capabilities although he hadn't had the chance to see them in action personally. The closest he got was when Jimmy worked with Ruiz on the Azte gang case. According to Ruiz, Jimmy was essentially the lead, and that battle resulted in nine dead on the scene, three more in the hospital.

Since Jimmy was confident, he likely had a solid plan.

Mahong nodded, "Let's discuss it more when we get back. Anything else?"

Jimmy, "It's the mole. Catching them is a must, and we can't do it alone. They're able to check the system for my car exchange and even pinpoint my location. It's frightening to have someone watch you all the time, it's a complete lack of security."

Mahong, "I'll communicate with Hughes once we're back. Oh, by the way, El gave up a name, Ashraf Rassimi, an Iraqi who came to the United States in the '90s, I haven't been back to check his files yet, but he underwent training with El."
