Jimmy was drinking with Nia and her two old classmates at the bar when he received a call from Mahong. He took the call in a quiet spot, and was speechless for a moment.
Can administrative leave be extended every two or three days? If it were a normal vacation, and he had these few days, he would have already taken Nia away from New York for a trip. However, with this kind of administrative leave, plus being specifically instructed not to wander off, they could only stroll around home and the city.
Collecting his emotions, Jimmy returned to Nia and her friends, picked up his glass, "Cheers, congratulations to me for getting another three days off."
Nia and her two classmates took a sip from their glasses, and Nia tilted her head looking at Jimmy, "Why?"
Jimmy shook his head, "Still not sure, I'll find out tomorrow. For now, let's enjoy the holiday."
Nia's classmate looked at the two of them and said, "If you two still have time, come to the fashion show tomorrow night. Nia, haven't you always wanted to see us on the runway?"
Jimmy dared not join in casually. Showing too much enthusiasm for watching girls on the runway could definitely lead to trouble.
Nia glanced at Jimmy and nodded to her friends, "Of course, no problem."
Her old classmate smiled, took out a small purse, and pulled out an invitation card, handing it to Nia, "Make sure to come."
Nia took the invitation, raised her glass, and clinked it with hers. As for Jimmy, he just watched them with a smile, not daring to speak.
Since Jimmy had to drive, he hardly drank anything that night, just taking sips. When Nia and her classmates had had enough, they left the bar. Jimmy drove them to the hotel before taking Nia back to the apartment.

Hughes went to work as usual in the morning; besides his normal duties, he had to pay attention to how Thomas would handle the situation. Ruiz had already received a call from Hughes; they met outside the office before coming in and quickly exchanged a few words. Ruiz also temporarily suspended the investigation into the deceased for two days, which was not a big issue.
The only person privy to the internal affairs was Hughes, but Ruiz would not question Hughes' arrangements. Having worked with Hughes for so many years, he knew that Hughes would not interfere with a case without good reason. Since he said so, there must be a compelling reason to do so.
The OPR's investigation was still ongoing. Hughes had originally given Fuller 48 hours, which was due today, but last night he gave Thomas another 48 hours. It didn't matter; it was just two days after all. After that, they would have to see what kind of results could be provided.
Although Ruiz had suspended the investigation into the deceased, the questioning of the living had not completely ceased. They had been a bit heavy-handed with their shooting that day, and out of the six who were taken alive to the hospital, three didn't make it due to severe injuries. The gunshot wounds were in dangerous places. Even though the emergency doctors were experts and familiar with treating gunshot wounds, there was nothing they could do in hopeless cases.
The one who was unharmed was now temporarily detained at the station. They had been interrogating him for two days, and after several rounds of verification, they had practically emptied him of everything he knew. Unfortunately, he was just a common member and hadn't been with Azte for long, so he didn't know their transportation routes and warehouse locations.
The remaining three who were shot were now in the ICU, out of danger for their lives, but still not fit for questioning. So while the Azte case was essentially over, they were still far from being able to write a closing report.
From their stronghold, they found a lot of cash and some neatly packed drugs, along with those illegal guns, and the identities of these people. It was almost certain that Azte's foundation in New York had been completely uprooted. For them to come back would probably take a very long time.

Just yesterday, they had gone shopping. Besides Nia buying a bunch of things, Jimmy also picked up a few items and made a dentist's appointment, taking advantage of the time off. He wanted to avoid having to schedule on weekends and possibly having to work overtime.
Of course, apart from these things, Jimmy had called Ruiz to ask about the situation. Unfortunately, Ruiz didn't know anything, and Jimmy couldn't do anything unless he called Hughes directly. As for OPR, Jimmy didn't have any contacts there.
Today, Nia went back home during the day, and Jimmy took the opportunity to go to church while alone, making a small donation to show his goodwill.
If truth be told, this act of Jimmy's was rather perfunctory. He used to go to church right after a shooting, but yesterday, with Nia shopping, he completely forgot about it. It was only this morning that he remembered and made the trip.
When Nia came over in the evening, Jimmy saw a completely different Nia than usual, wearing a light pink trench coat, a white scarf, a white casual shirt and pink trousers inside, both loose-fitting, and a pair of white sneakers that gave her a vibrant look. Her smooth blond hair cascaded over her shoulders, and it was clear she had explicitly done her hair and makeup during the day.
Jimmy teased, "Are you going on stage or something? I've never seen you dressed like this before."
Nia giggled, "I can't look too much worse than them. Are you just going out like this?"
Jimmy was taken aback by the question. He looked down at the suit he wore today and realized it really didn't match. He asked Nia to rest for a bit and dashed into the bathroom for a quick shower. After drying his hair, he changed into a trench coat, a casual suit, and jeans. He then had Nia check him over to make sure everything was alright before heading out to drive to Bryant Park.
