North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 629: 410 Mysterious Shadows_2

"Be careful," Jimmy whispered, raising the 1875 and firing off a six-round volley. There seemed to be nothing within his line of sight, but the shadow was definitely abnormal. However, within the range of Heart Eye, it was still visible. A volley of bullets hit the shadow, which dispersed like smoke and vanished into the air.

The 1875's inherent demon-breaking attribute had been used by Jimmy once before, and it was much more effective than his M686. The only problem was the stronger recoil of the .44 Magnum bullets, but after three months of continuous training, Jimmy's physical fitness and reaction had greatly improved. So, finishing a volley in less than 2 seconds was not a problem, and the recoil didn't prevent him from continuing to shoot.

Before Mahong and Philicia could react, Jimmy had already holstered his gun, the Python returned to its holster, and he began to unholster the spare .44 Magnum bullets, ready to reload.

Mahong and Philicia immediately aimed their guns at the spot Jimmy had shot at and moved to take cover behind the trees.

Mahong, "What did you see?"

Mahong didn't blame Jimmy for firing suddenly. In this kind of forest, when Jimmy took the lead with his gun, Mahong had a premonition that an abnormal situation would justify a shot. The only issue was that he had seen nothing in that direction.

As Jimmy reloaded, he replied, "Something seemed to be over there just now."

After changing the bullets, Jimmy continued, "Cover me, I'm going to check it out."

As Jimmy walked forward with his gun, Mahong and Philicia also moved from behind the trees, using them as cover while following behind Jimmy, gradually maintaining a distance from him.

Jimmy was certain that the shadow had disappeared and that there were no other findings in the surroundings; nothing unusual on the ground or in the trees, which was very strange. Previously, any anomalies Jimmy encountered had a trail; not to mention the Resentful Spirit in the river near Tata Town, even the Evil Spirit that had emerged from a criminal had been possessing the person.

After checking the ground and finding nothing, he looked up at the trees, but again found nothing. Strange, the shadow he had just dispatched definitely belonged to the supernatural, but how had it appeared?

Mahong, "Did you find anything?"

Jimmy shouted back, "No discovery, I might have been seeing things."

As Mahong and Philicia approached Jimmy, they also surveyed the surroundings, "What did you see at first?"

Jimmy, "I might have been seeing things. It was just a black shadow, and I thought it might be due to the poor light in the forest that I was mistaken."

Mahong checked the environment again to make sure nothing was found, then relaxed his guard, "No worries, mistaking something is normal. That's a fine gun you have there, good taste."

Jimmy raised his gun, barrel pointed skyward, "Custom-made. I like the Remington 1875, had two specially made."

Mahong nodded, "Let's continue."

Jimmy continued to lead the way and after moving several dozen meters forward, still found nothing. He turned to look at Mahong, "It's not working out searching this way; we don't even know how large this forest is. Should we circle around from the outside?"

Mahong thought for a moment and nodded, "Let's head out first."

Philicia turned and moved from the back to the front, and the three of them slowly walked out of the forest.

Shortly after they left the forest, Mahong's phone rang. After hanging up, he turned to Philicia, "Aaron Burns, the one they kidnapped and killed, had his credit card used just now at an ATM in the southern part of Newburgh. We have to go there immediately, Newburgh police have been notified and are heading to the target location."

Philicia was about to go to the car when Mahong stopped her, "Jimmy, you continue heading north here; it's now clear they split up, one went south, the other went north. You pursue Rob Reilly heading north, contact me immediately with any clues, the State Police and surrounding precincts have been authorized to support us."

Jimmy had just planned to go with them, but with such an assignment, he looked displeased, "Roger that."

He was being sidelined; it was certain now. The two had come together from Chicago, and it seemed the old partners trusted each other more.

Mahong and Philicia left in separate cars, leaving only Jimmy's car at the scene. The previous officers had also left.

The officers were there to assist with the investigation, and they had their own assignments. Without any leads, it was normal to return to their precincts to handle their own matters. A prison escape was major, but it wasn't within their jurisdiction. When they could cooperate, they would, and without leads, the FBI had to find its own.

Jimmy drove onto the main road, planning to bypass the forest directly. This place was a bit eerie, and for the time being, he would leave them be; there was a case to handle. If there wasn't a case, Jimmy would have actually been interested in clearing out this little forest.

Driving past the forest, which was only three or four hundred meters across, actually, if Jimmy and his team had gone another one or two hundred meters, they would have left the forest. Unfortunately, due to the obstructed view, the range of Heart Eye wasn't that far, so the decision to exit the forest felt like a loss.

Past the forest, there were a few detached houses, and beyond that a large industrial enterprise, with another vast expanse of forest in front of it. At least from the road, there was no sign of the other side of the forest.

The conditions were too poor; to find a person in this kind of place was truly difficult.
