North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 378: 314 Langley_2

Seeing that the coast was clear, Jimmy turned on the light. Since someone had already made an attempt on them and been taken down, without any communication back to the agency, they could surely deduce that the capture had failed. Frank and the others had to leave immediately, otherwise, who knew how many more might come after them.

Jimmy changed clothes and grabbed his luggage to leave, just as Frank and the rest were coming out too, but not from their own room—instead, from Sara's.

Jimmy asked in a low voice, "How did it go? Are they dead?"

Frank shook his head, "No, just knocked out. FBI, it must have been surveillance personnel who spotted us and sent a few people from nearby. We need to leave right away."

Jimmy nodded and let Frank leave first, taking his time before he followed and took the opposite route, making a detour before heading towards Langley.

Langley, the location of the CIA headquarters, is situated on the border of Virginia and the District of Columbia along the Potomac River, covering more than 200 acres. This was the CIA's most central area and a place Jimmy really didn't like to visit because he knew nothing about the CIA. Despite having that identity, he had no clue about their operational methods, not to mention the layout of the headquarters—he was certain to give himself away.

However, this time, with seasoned operatives like Frank and Marvin, the situation wasn't too problematic. Frank didn't drive directly to Langley but instead found a villa by the woods, quite far from Langley.

Frank opened the villa and entered. Jimmy had already scoped the place out—there was no one around. He asked, "You guys have a safe house here?"

Frank replied, "Of course not, this is arranged by an old friend."

Everyone dispersed into different rooms, and Frank pushed open a cupboard in the kitchen to reveal a small chamber, from which he retrieved a box and placed it on the living room coffee table. Frank opened the box and took out a military uniform complete with medals and other small trinkets.

Frank said, "Sara, could you press this uniform for me?"

Frank took out a prepared set of credentials from his pocket and placed it on the table, then began to piece together the medals from the box. Jimmy glanced at the credentials, General Harro of the U.S. Army, nuclear physicist Shenika Johnson—good grief, both Frank's and Sara's photos were already affixed.

Jimmy asked, "Did you get all these from the Embassy?"

Frank nodded, "There's nothing for you and Marvin, you'll be on response duty outside."

Jimmy smacked his lips regretfully, "I thought I'd have a chance to visit inside Langley."

Frank asked, "You've never been?"

Jimmy replied, "Never."

Frank looked up at Jimmy, "Do you really want to go in?"

Jimmy nodded furiously, and Frank called out, "Marvin, prepare an ID photo for Jimmy."

Jimmy followed Marvin into the small room Frank had taken the box from. It was well-stocked indeed, and before long, a CIA identification card was ready—complete with an ID pressing machine, printed card, attached photo, and direct lamination.

Jimmy held the ID, Ken Inouye from the Administration Communications Department. He looked at Marvin, "Is it really that simple?"

Marvin replied, "Did you think it was difficult? This is just the CIA headquarters. There's a lot of regular staff, and as long as you don't swipe your badge in a secure area, there will be no issues."

Jimmy asked, "But is this profile reliable? What if this person is no longer at the headquarters?"

Marvin answered, "You can trust KGB's abilities. As long as the data is still on this computer, it's certainly usable. Let's get out of here."

Jimmy, holding the ID clipped to his left chest pocket, asked, "How do they usually wear their badges here? Like this?"

Frank glanced at him, "Change into a suit, your current outfit won't do."

Jimmy did as instructed. He had already opened two of the boxes in the small room earlier, seen that they were full of complete outfits in a variety of styles, adjusted his hair, put on black-rimmed glasses, and applied a little makeup—looking very different from his original self.

In the afternoon, Frank pulled an SUV out of the villa garage with Sara and left. Jimmy drove a much older Honda Civic, following Frank at a distance toward the Langley building.

Jimmy followed Frank into the parking lot, swiped his card, entered a code, and encountered no obstacles entering the building—amidst the hustle and bustle, no one bothered to check him.

Jimmy did not take the same elevator as Frank. Frank and the others were heading down to the archives area, while he took another elevator up to the visitor's lounge. Before Jimmy could reach his destination, Frank's elevator was already sounding an alarm.

Damn, Jimmy's elevator door had already closed and he had no way to see what was happening. He only saw Frank standing still while Sara searched for something on the ground, with three armed security guards pointing their guns at them from outside the elevator.

Soon, the three guards also crouched down to search for something, and afterward, the alarm was cleared. Jimmy had reached the upper floor, beyond the range of Heart Eye Observation. Sitting in the visitor's lounge, he poured himself a cup of coffee and rested there.

Jimmy didn't want to wander around, mainly because he was afraid that if he accidentally went the wrong place, he would get caught and that would be trouble. From here, he could watch people coming and going and get a general idea of the nearby layout, which was enough. It was his first time there, so he took it as getting his bearings.

He observed the surrounding offices. They looked no different from the FBI offices—most men wore suits, some in formal black attire, others in casual suits, with no consistent style. As for the women, their attire was varied, and they all seemed quite relaxed.
