The woman who originally sat in the back seat got out of the car, moved to the driver's seat, took out a bucket-shaped police light, put it on the roof, and drove the police car away. However, the direction she left in was not the same as the direction the Santas had left.
Daniel instantly got into the car to start tracking. They zigzagged until they had returned to the seaside warehouse district they visited earlier.
Daniel watched the woman drive into the warehouse and turned his head toward Jimmy, "Please help me rescue Emilian, I beg you."
Jimmy looked at Daniel, nodded, opened the car door, placed all the encumbering items on the back seat, and went toward the warehouse alone.
The Santas from before wore roller skates; even if sparks flew from their wheels, they couldn't be faster than Daniel driving a car. Now, there would only be one or two people inside at most. He just needed to use his skills to ambush one and he would have a weapon.
Jimmy picked up a stick from outside the warehouse and looked over; his judgment was correct. There were only three people inside: one sitting on a chair, one who by build seemed to be the woman from earlier, and another who appeared to be packing up, probably preparing to leave.
Jimmy sneakily approached the front door from the side, making use of the moment when those inside weren't paying attention to the door. He crouched and slipped inside, delivering a blow with the stick to the back of the head of a Santa facing away from him. Of course, Jimmy was somewhat restrained, not daring to strike too hard, or else he might accidentally kill the man and that would mean big trouble.
As expected, the Santa's red hat did not withstand the stick's intimate contact, and he collapsed onto the floor. However, the noise alerted the woman, who turned to face Jimmy's direction and immediately drew her pistol.
Jimmy had no intention of standing his ground against bullets. He also fell to the side, taking cover behind the collapsed Santa. He felt around the man's body, "F**k, where's the gun?" He had seen that the Santas were all fully armed before. Using his feet for leverage, he rolled toward the corner of the wall to avoid the woman's line of fire.
"You can't escape. The police are surrounding the area. Put down your weapon and surrender," shouted Jimmy, lacking a gun and feeling at a significant disadvantage. He called out loudly, but because he didn't know French, he could only shout in English.
The woman, who had been planning to approach, halted when she heard Jimmy's voice. She fired two shots toward the corner where Jimmy was hiding and then turned to grab a bag nearby, running toward a black SUV parked in the warehouse. She started the vehicle and left the warehouse from the other side.
Although Jimmy didn't show himself, his senses within the scope of his ability still allowed him to see her actions. Not having a gun made him anxious, catching criminals wasn't his job, rescuing people was the priority. Let her run; with so many at the police station, they were bound to catch her.
Once sure the woman had left the warehouse, Jimmy didn't hesitate. He stood up and approached Emilian, "Emilian, you're lucky they didn't kill you to silence you beforehand."
Emilian was facing away from Jimmy; he had heard the previous commotion and gunshots but had no idea who was involved. Now, seeing Jimmy by his side, he said with surprise, "It's you, did Daniel send you? Where is he?"
As Jimmy untied Emilian, he said, "Daniel is outside keeping watch, making sure no one else comes by while I came in to rescue you. Alright, let's get out."
Jimmy helped Emilian to his feet, and the two came to the warehouse entrance, where Daniel, seeing them, immediately drove over. After getting out of the car, Daniel ran to Emilian, hugged him, then checked him over briefly.
Jimmy said to Daniel with a smile, "Alright, Emilian has been rescued. Can we go now? I haven't even sorted out my accommodation for tonight!"
"NO, I have to catch that woman. She just drove off, taking all the loot and money, and my phone. Petra gave me that phone, and if she calls and that Chinese woman answers, I'll really be in trouble," Emilian suddenly said.
Daniel spread his hands toward Emilian, "We just rescued you, shouldn't you first say thanks to Jimmy?"
Emilian: "If we can't find that woman, your rescue won't mean much. Gilbert is looking everywhere for me, wanting to wring my neck."
Daniel: "We will catch them, but you should still thank Jimmy first."
Emilian turned to Jimmy and said, "Thank you." Then he turned back to Daniel, "How can we catch them? We have no clues."
Daniel: "Did you see or hear anything useful?"
Emilian: "Yes, she mentioned a helicopter pilot, probably arranged to meet somewhere. And that woman was wearing fur boots."
Daniel walked into the warehouse with Emilian, with Jimmy following. Fortunately, the two communicated in English, aware of the presence of another Jimmy, or else he would surely be confused now.
"Emilian, don't forget there is a captive here," Jimmy pointed out the Santa he had knocked out. Emilian walked over to the table, retrieved his handcuffs and gun, and cuffed the man.
Daniel, however, walked over to where the woman had driven away. There were several puddles of water on the ground. He crouched down to touch one, "The water is cold, probably melted snow, and to remain at this temperature, it suggests she came from the mountain and not far away."
Jimmy really began to see Daniel in a new light. A taxi driver who knew so much.
