Chapter 362: 308 Potato Brother (These two chapters will be restructured please do not subscribe yet)

The Louvre was just too famous. Jimmy, while on Peter's team reviewing the data, had seen countless references to the Louvre, various artifacts, and original paintings, most of which involved the Louvre's collection. Jimmy wasn't so greedy, though; the Louvre was too vast. He merely visited the painting and Eastern art galleries before leaving the Louvre.

It wasn't that Jimmy was short on time or had pressing tasks, rather while wandering the galleries, he realized he seemed to lack any artistic flair. He had wanted to see if he could cultivate some, to refine his sentiments, but found he was fine with the paintings. When it came to art sculptures and ancient artifacts, he felt nothing, couldn't remember the introductions or names, and forgot everything once he saw it. After two galleries, he gave up, concluding he was not fated for art, and there was no relation to Peter's team after all.

Jimmy went out for a walk and hailed a taxi to Sacred Heart Church. As it turned out, the taxi drivers in Paris seemed to have decent English, albeit with a heavy accent, but communication was still manageable.

The urban environment in Paris appeared quite old, perhaps because Jimmy had seen newly built metropolises. Whether it was the small stone cities, Los Angeles, or New York, many of the buildings in these cities looked very old, always giving off a sense of lacking passion and vitality.

As for the safety in Paris, Jimmy had already lost hope. Apart from encountering thieves and a gang attack on his first night, just during this taxi ride, he had already witnessed three suspected cases of chasing thieves. This was still in the core area of Paris; he couldn't imagine what it would be like in the even worse areas of the 93rd and 94th districts.

While on a street, the taxi was in motion when suddenly gunfire erupted ahead. The driver, an old hand at this, pulled over to the side and stopped. "Sir, there seems to be some trouble ahead, do we need to turn around and take another route?"

Jimmy looked up ahead. This was a residential area, and the street seemed normal, which meant the gunshots must have come from inside a residential building. He turned to the driver, "Does this happen often here?"

The driver shook his head, "Not usually around here, but we'd better take another route."

Jimmy nodded, and the driver checked the rearview mirror, starting to make a U-turn. Jimmy kept his eyes on the source of the gunfire. Suddenly, someone leaped from a building and crashed to the ground, with bystanders keeping their distance, pointing and commenting.

As the driver completed the U-turn, Jimmy was about to turn back when he spotted a familiar face exiting the building. "Stop the car," Jimmy said as he stuck his head out the window to get a better look at the person who was helping a woman into a red car and sped away.

Jimmy said, "Turn around, follow that red car."

The driver shook his head, "No, sir, that's too dangerous. If you don't need to go to Sacred Heart Church, you can get off here."

Jimmy promptly took out his wallet, paid the fare, and got out of the car, walking in the direction the red car had gone.

Seeing that person, Jimmy suddenly remembered a very familiar movie, "The Bourne Identity." The person who had just jumped was the younger version of Potato Brother, who he remembered as Jason Bourne. This situation seemed like Bourne's early days in Paris.

By the time Jimmy reached the intersection, the red car had vanished. He bit his lower lip and pulled out a business card, dialing a number using an unregistered phone.

Jimmy: "Daniel, are you still in Paris?"

Daniel: "Who is this?"

Jimmy: "A couple of days ago at the Paris airport, I rode in your taxi. Asian, remember me now?"

Daniel: "Oh, I know. Sorry, I've arrived in Marseille, I'm not in Paris anymore."

Jimmy: "Oh, okay, sorry to bother you."

Jimmy hung up, thinking that Daniel was indeed an excellent driver. To chase Bourne's car, Daniel would have been the best choice.

Jimmy turned to look at the body on the ground. This person must have been the agent sent to assassinate Bourne. It seemed likely that the police channels would have information related to this incident. But Jimmy didn't understand French. Before, he had merely had someone translate the names of streets and tourist destinations around the hotel so he could guess where troubles were based on keywords in the radio chatter. Now that he was following Bourne, with just Bourne's name to go on, he had no way of understanding the specifics in French.

Jimmy looked around the street, found a café, and ordered a cup of coffee. While resting, he reflected on the plot of "The Bourne Identity."

But something was off. If it was indeed "The Bourne Identity," then Noah Watson, the Anti-Terrorism Bureau, CIA—these would fit into the story he remembered. Until now, he hadn't paid much attention to Noah Watson, since he barely remembered the names of such side characters. Unless he saw them in person or in a photo, he couldn't recall them at all.

Now, piecing it together with the plot in his memory, he had a vague impression of Noah Watson: a very thin Caucasian, quite old, a villain in one of the movies, and also the one who had sent people to assassinate James. Tom's target in coming to New York probably involved him as well.

With Jason Bourne still in Paris, far from the movie plot, Noah Watson could wait. Jimmy was excited upon seeing Bourne because he instantly recalled the movie's plot, Operation Treadstone.

Sorting it out, might the original owner of his body have been in a similar situation? In the movie, Bourne also underwent years of training before starting his missions, typically lying dormant until activated for a task, just like Jimmy's current state. What if Jimmy's predecessor was part of Operation Treadstone? Was it possible? After all, his mother Veronica held a position of high authority; why would she arrange for her son to carry out such a plan?
