RISE OF THE MARTIAL GOD

Chapter 61: HELL BREAKER FIST

The old man felt that he would vomit blood if he wasted one more minute listening to Anthony's nonsense.

"You're quite outrageous, little boy. Fine, fine. You're young and don't know there's a sky above the heavens, I will let it slide. Since you're here, quickly help yourself to the things in here. If I were you, I would pay more attention to physique laws, qi cultivation and mind cultivation. You should also not be too hasty to choose your main weapon. You should choose carefully the type of weapon that is most compatible with you. I see you're already forming the foundation of a dagger soul without receiving any guidance from a master. That's quite commendable. So, I think you should make a sword, double sword, halberd or short sword your main weapon. If you divert to arrow, whips, or spears without warning, your dao heart might be shaken if your mind is not stable enough to multitask."

"Old man, if you were going to leave it to someone else, why set all those traps? I could have died before I got here." Anthony said with his hands on his waist, apparently not afraid of the old man's silhouette, not even one bit.

The old man chuckled and stroked his beard.

"Fortune belongs to people who don't give up. If you didn't manage to come in, it means you don't deserve it. Even if you came in here and I thought you unworthy, probably because you used a despicable method to get through, I would have still kicked you out without letting you take anything away."

"Oh? You seem quite protective of your old stuff. Why are you letting me take them away if you can't bear to part?" Anthony asked, trying to hold back himself from sneering.

"If I force you to give back the scrolls and go back empty handed, will you agree?"

"Of course not. Outrageous! Why will I return empty handed after already seeing everything with my eyes? Don't joke with me." Anthony said and clasped his hand behind him, raising his jaw up in a defiant stance.

"Exactly! Don't worry, I have no intention of robbing you. I watched you come in, you were meticulous, observant, and you tread with caution. You didn't rush in blindly because you suspected there were treasures. Besides, you're ambitious and full of potential. You're not greedy for material things. The moment you walked in, you went straight to the book shelf. It shows that you are the type that pays more attention to self development, not vanity. Such a junior is definitely worth grooming with effort. As long as you're powerful enough, wealth will naturally follow because you need strength to secure resources. Your eyes didn't wander much, apart from your initial curiosity, you were cautious and set your priorities right. It's no loss giving it to you. And that was the main reason I showed myself. To give you some pointers."

"Some pointers. Are you going to teach me cultivation techniques?"

"Mmmmmm, pretty much all the basics are contained in the books you took. You seem to understand the nine worlds' languages. But even if you don't, it's alright. The moment you touch the book with a little spiritual energy on the surface of your fingers, the knowledge will automatically be impacted to you. That's why language is not a barrier. However, understanding what is written is also important, to avoid lowering your mind's defenses, only for a curse to invade your body. Some scrolls contain evil techniques and curses, and when an unlucky person shows up and lets them into his body thinking it's a good thing, the person's mind would be corrupted. Even if it's a normal scroll, one should read it to know if it was compatible with the person's cultivation methods. Otherwise, such a person might suffer from qi deviation and die. Also, when picking up weapons, or treasures, especially when you invaded an ancient burial ground, you have to be very careful. Most powerful weapons have spirits. And when their owners die, they can either transform into something else and leave or seal themselves, waiting for the next opportuned master. However, weapons that have tasted deranged killings, and lots of blood shed are different. Some become resentful souls after their master dies, due to the fact there's no one controlling or further refining them. Either they engulf people and other creatures to enhance their power. Or they wait for an ill fated victim. Once a weaker person appears, or a powerful person who was caught unawares, they invade the person's mind and possess their bodies, especially if one's mental cultivation is not powerful enough to resist. Using that person's body and identity, they go out to create havoc. People might even see the person as a villain not knowing he was possessed. If the person gets killed, they move on to the next victim."

"Truly eye opening." Anthony whispered, nodding his head. His mind couldn't help but return to the time he tamed the dragon daggers which initially wanted to kill him.

"There's another rare situation where someone is powerful enough to subdue and use such evil weapons. However, it's truly rare. It's either it gets subdued with brute force, or the weapon has a natural affinity with the person."

"What technique do you want to teach me?" Anthony asked, going straight to the topic which interested him the most.

"Well, nothing fancy. I will teach you a fist techniques. It has five moves, with each move stronger than the last one. The fifth one is the strongest of them all. This is because the last four stacks upon another in this last move to create an overwhelming force. It is called the hell breaker fist technique. Watch me carefully and repeat after me, start from the acupoint in your arm to circulate and gather the energy. Also, while punching out, direct it at the now empty bookshelf to avoid damaging things."

Anthony nodded, carefully watching the old man's movement and how he was circulating the energy. He watched him do it once and quickly replicated the first move.

The shockwaves from his fist made the durable bookshelf crack. The old man nodded in satisfaction.

"My judgment was not wrong. You're a fast learner. Assuming your cultivation was high enough, the damage will be even greater. Let's move to the second one. Remember that each subsequent one is more powerful than the last." The old man said and quickly performed the second one.

Once again, Anthony perfectly replicated it, making one side of the shelf to splinter.

"The third move is a palm strike. If executed properly it can blow your opponents off while causing severe damage." The old man said, and carried on. Anthony quickly replicated it, making the bookshelf to totally shatter.

"Good, good. You're a very intelligent and fast learner. You didn't waste my time at all. The fourth move is very lethal. It can directly bypass the physical body and damage the internal organs. There's an evil technique that is similar to this. However, that one is very dangerous and has been banned in the martial world. It directly crushes one's cultivation core, making a master turn into a useless mortal. However, this one ain't that terrible. It only destroys the internal organs. If one's cultivation is very high, or the power disparity is too much, some of the opponents' meridians might be crushed. It involves two simultaneous actions, you accumulate spatial pressure and punch out, letting your opponent have it hot." The old man said and quickly executed the fourth move.

Anthony repeated his actions, strictly adhering to the old man's instructions. By the time the shockwaves from his punch dispersed, a fist print was left on the cave wall.

The man didn't say anything and directly moved to the fifth one. This one was a bit challenging because it involved passing energy through some meridians that Anthony normally doesn't use in battles.

He punched out with his face obviously in deep contemplation.

A loud blast immediately occurred, followed by dust and sounds of cracks. When the dust dispersed, Anthony looked up at his handiwork, he immediately gasped. His fist left slight cracks in the cave wall. Recall that the powerful evil tortoise couldn't leave a scratch on the cave's walls, despite its' durable shell. Does it mean that with this technique, his fist would be stronger than the tortoise shell?

"I know what you're thinking about. Don't even think about it, unless you have a death wish. You're currently way too weak and narrowly escaped death. Before you get to the fifth move, it would already be digesting your bones. Pay attention and don't do anything hasty." The old man said, scolding the excited Anthony with a frown on his face.

"Alright, alright. I won't bother the tortoise till I'm strong enough. You mentioned you wanted to teach me two things. What's the second one?" Anthony asked, feeling raw power course through his veins. If the first one was this powerful, the second one won't be too shabby either, right?
