Perhaps this is love.
As the banquet went on, it became basically the men chatting and boasting, while the female immortals gathered in the back hall to share their secrets, and the banquet lasted for half a month before everyone left.
Yang Jian's family needed to return and prepare for the wedding, and other divine beings had their work to tend to, unable to stay away for too long. Nezha felt it wasn't much different from his previous job.
However, meeting with these familiar friends and relaxing a bit clearly made him feel much more lively, and after settling down for a while, he could continue working on merging the remaining Hongmeng Purple Qi.
In the coming five years, Nezha mostly stayed in the Heavenly Court, writing, researching in arrays and artifact refining, spending time with his wife, and most importantly, planning the path he would take in the future.
During this time, Nezha became even more certain that he did not want to follow the path of Cutting Three Corpses. Daoist Ancestor once spoke of three ways to become a Saint, one being through the power of the righteous path, Cutting Three Corpses, and Merit to become a Saint. Though the Six Saints of the Primordial era initially chose the method of Cutting Three Corpses, ultimately they all relied on Merit, classifying them as a Merit-based Saint. They then used the Saint Fruit Position to retroactively fill the gaps in their Dao Fruits.
Outside of the Primordial, they remained as Chaos Origins, but now they were more constrained compared to relying on themselves.
For Nezha now, Merit to become a Saint is the final backup. He didn't want to walk the path of Cutting Three Corpses, leaving only the path of the Power of Righteous Dao. And currently, he has found two relatively reliable methods within this path.
The first comes from East Emperor Taiyi, whose method is rather straightforward—stacking attributes, practicing oneself while relying on external Qi Fortune, stacking until one surpasses a certain limit naturally allowing him to prove the Dao.
This method has a low risk but the downside is its slowness. No one knows how long it will take to break the limit, and one's own improvement doesn't necessarily yield results by mere effort. Towards the end, even the slightest improvement becomes extremely difficult.
The second method was researched by Saint Taiqing, known as One Qi to Three Pure Ones. If one person finds it tiring to stack attributes, then what about four people stacking and finally merging together?
Moreover, once merged, he could borrow some of Pangu's Power to assist himself.
This method was almost successful initially for Taiqing. He was about to cut out the third corpse, but unexpectedly Nuwa, with no ideals, seized the opportunity for instant sainthood with her Merit, catching him off guard.
This path is entirely superior to the first but has the drawback of being costly. If Nezha takes this route, it would be equivalent to spending four times the resources, which is no small amount.
Look at the Jie Sect at its peak, even with a Saint in charge, there were only four Quasi-Saints: Duobao Daoist, Jin Ling Saint Mother, Wudang Saint Mother, and Yunxiao. On one hand, it indeed relates to personal qualifications and opportunities. On the other hand, it's limited by resources.
Among the four direct disciples, apart from the artisan Duobao, the other three are not poor but far from wealthy, and it's even more so for those below. The Magical Treasures they use are mostly refined from demon beasts, humans, and the Dragon Clan, and their power is merely so-so.
Nezha thought for a while and eventually decided to proceed with both paths simultaneously. The previous eleven human bodies must be trimmed down; he has gained some insights into the One Qi to Three Pure Ones and the Twelve Duterrestrial Gods Evil Formation, and he plans to further integrate and develop these Divine Skills.
Then it was the day of Yang Jian's wedding. Although Nezha wanted to attend as a friend, his status inevitably precluded him. Yang Jian's marriage team consisted of third-generation disciples of the Chan Sect.
The Dragon Clan, though in decline, was not poor. The West Sea Dragon King was extremely pleased with his son-in-law, not only depleting his own family assets but also sweeping through the other Four Seas.
On the day, hundreds of divine dragons accompanied the bride from the West Sea all the way to Wudang Mountain, presenting quite a grand scene.
Marriage among immortals is relatively rare, and quite a number of female immortals attended this event, finding it all rather intriguing.
Nezha looked at Long Ji, who was staring wide-eyed, and asked, "Envious? How about I arrange one for you too?"
Contrary to Nezha's expectation, Long Ji shook her head.
"It's just curious. Rather than doing all this, I'd rather you spend time with me alone."
The immortals who attended Yang Jian's wedding were many, even Hao Tian and the Queen Mother sent gifts. Nanji Immortal, representing the Chan Sect, also brought a gift, along with many other immortals and Dragon Clan members.
The Dragon Clan of the Four Seas is in an awkward position now. The divine dragons in Ancestor Dragon Hall don't regard the thin bloodlines seriously, and they are constantly under Hao Tian's watch in the Heavenly Court, caught in a dilemma.
Creating such a grand event this time could be seen as an attempt to curry favor with Hao Tian.
After the wedding, Yang Jian, along with Ao Cunxin, went to the Yuxu Palace to pay respects to his teacher. The events of the past surely could not be completely forgiven, but True Master Yu Ding's affection for him was unforgettable. Thus, one can say that the feelings of immortals are equally complex.
Nezha had received half of the Hongmeng Purple Qi and entered a brief period of settling, but has the Primordial quieted down? No.
The Spiritual Energy of the Primordial world has significantly risen, which is evident to all, and many top Quasi-Saints have long been unable to hold back their agitation, plotting for ways to advance further.
Leaving others aside for a moment, the three most promising figures in the Mystic Sect appear to be Emperor Hao Tian, Great Master Xuan Du, and Duobao Daoist.
Among them, Hao Tian, with the longest cultivation time and blessed by the Three Realms Supreme Fruit Position and immense Qi Fortune, has reached the end of Slaying Two Corpses but has yet to cut the third.
Slightly behind, Great Master Xuan Du enjoys the Qi Fortune and blessings of the entire Human Sect, having a cultivation slightly inferior to Hao Tian, classifiable as late-stage Slaying Two Corpses.
Duobao Daoist, the least promising, though initially wounded by Luo Hou, gained an opportunity to advance further, later following Nezha to obtain much Merit. Now he could be considered mid-stage Slaying Two Corpses.
The Chan Sect initially had a Second Corpse Quasi-Saint, Nanji Immortal, to hold the scene, but post Heavenly Punishment, his path is broken without further mention.
Among the three, it was Duobao Daoist who moved first.
Regarding past Buddhist affairs, he felt at a disadvantage due to missing out on the initial move. Now, being the one with the weakest cultivation, he chose to act first.
His method was simple: preaching.
The Daoist Ancestor achieved the way through preaching, as did his teacher before him, so now he must fight on his terms and preaching seems very logical.
He mentioned this to his teacher, Tongtian Sect Master. While not opining on its success, Tongtian expressed support, liking to teach others and being pleased that his disciple now wanted to teach as well.
With the nod from Tongtian Sect Master, Duobao's idea of preaching received full backing from the Jie Sect. As a disciple of Duobao Daoist, Fire Spirit Saint Mother instantly got busy, while others took on simple tasks like setting up venues; she had to deliver the messages.
The more prominent, the better for preaching. More people would make Duobao's preaching more effective, and Fire Spirit Saint Mother's task was to send invitations to those Great Experts.
Zhen Yuanzi, The Queen Mother of the West, Nezha, Chan Sect, Human Sect, Buddhism—she essentially extended an invitation to every noteworthy Great Expert in the world. Whether they came or not was not her concern, but she had to invite them.
Many Great Experts didn't want to see Duobao succeed. The more straightforward ones simply did not attend, but a larger number came with no good intentions.
As for the lower-level loose cultivators, reaching Sainthood seemed an unreachable goal for them, and they might not even be aware of this matter. But it was a huge opportunity for them now that a Saint's direct disciple and top Slaying Two Corpses Great Expert was preaching. So regardless of the outcome, Duobao's preaching seemed lively and promising at present.
Nezha received an invitation while in the Heavenly Court as well. His relations with the Jie Sect were good, not to mention his ties with Yunxiao and Jin Ling, and how could he not support his good elder brother Tongtian Sect Master's nephew Duobao at his preaching?
Let's go, head out!
Let's eat!
