World-saving Plan: The Only Savior

Chapter 199: Super Mutant (Part 2)

"Genetic warrior! Die! Genetic warrior! Die!!"

However, there was no way the bulky mutant would let them go, charging at them like a tank with its engines roaring.

"Watch out!"

Rumen, who had just attacked him, was chosen as the first target.

Fortunately, his reflexes were quick, and he sidestepped to avoid it.

"Boom!!"

The bulky mutant didn't slow down, smashing into the small house behind Rumen.

The metal walls shattered upon impact, steel fragments flying everywhere, scattering across the ground.

"Fuck!"

Jiko screamed upon seeing this, grabbing a sharp metal fragment from the ground and charging forward.

Without any suspense, the robust black man came quickly and left even faster.

His body flew backward like a cannonball, landing on the distant reservoir valve, rolling and sliding for dozens of meters before plunging into a hole with a splash.

"Jiko!"

Morris was both shocked and angry, but now he could not even worry about himself, as the mutant had already set its sights on him.

"Roar!!"

Facing the swiftly charging behemoth, Morris could only grit his teeth, putting all his strength into dodging to the side.

Already seriously injured, this action made him cough up two mouthfuls of blood, nearly losing consciousness.

Fortunately, his lunge wasn't for nothing.

While dodging the monster's attack, he also threw a small bottle in his hand, hitting the opponent's face.

"Langke Fungus Powder!"

Ashley, the white-haired man, shouted in surprise and delight upon witnessing this.

He certainly remembered that earlier, on their way here, the captain had collected some Langke fungus powder from the roadside.

And he certainly remembered what that powder could do — it could cause hallucinations.

Sure enough, the bulky mutant did not immediately attack but stopped in its tracks, rubbing its eyes vigorously with a dazed expression.

"This stuff won't last long, let's retreat quickly!"

"No! Jiko just fell into the reservoir, we have to find a way to rescue him!"

Before the words were finished, a burst of water splashed out from the valve hole, and a dark, round head popped out.

"Jiko!"

Morris was overjoyed.

The robust black man raised a plasma sniper rifle in his hand with excitement and said:

"Look what I found!!"

He hurriedly climbed up, pausing at the sight of the monster's condition, then quickly snapped back to reality, aiming the gun at the adversary.

"How do I use this!? How do I use this thing!!?"

But after pulling the trigger several times, Jiko found no reaction from the gun barrel, the red light did not appear as expected.

"Shake it! Shake it!"

Andrea screamed in urgency, fervently gesturing the action of turning a handle.

Thankfully, Jiko wasn't too slow on the uptake, quickly understanding his meaning and started spinning the charging lever on the side of the gun.

"Jiko! You musclebound fool, hurry up!!"

Andrea shouted in panic, attacking the target from a distance with sharp metal fragments while urging Jiko incessantly, for the plasma sniper rifle in his hand was the group's last hope.

"Bastard! What did you just call me!"

Jiko was sweating from anxiety, feeling as if he had never moved his hands so fast in his life.

But no matter how fast he spun the charging lever, the energy chamber inside the gun barrel remained silent.

A moment later, he finally understood, letting out a furious roar:

"Damn it! It's not waterproof! These idiots made this crap without waterproofing!!"

This revelation froze the atmosphere on the spot for a moment, as even Rumen hadn't expected things to turn out this way.

However, by this time, the bulky mutant had already shaken off the effects, and the bottle of Langke fungus powder hadn't bought them much time.

"Roar!!"

The monster was clearly enraged after being toyed with repeatedly.

Its bloodshot eyes were fixed on Morris like an infuriated elephant as it charged at him, the closest target.

"Boss!!"

Cries of alarm sounded in unison from the Rat Exterminator Team members.

Facing such an overwhelming assault, they could only watch helplessly as their captain was about to be crushed.

To Morris, time seemed to slow down around him, scenes from his life flashing before his eyes.

Dropping out of high school, arguing with his parents, running away from home, earning his first bounty, meeting the woman he loved, joining the Wildfire Tavern, battling various mutants...

All these scenes raced by like a fast-forwarded movie, letting him see his life in this fleeting moment.

Morris had heard the saying that before one dies, they see everything that happened in their life.

But he never believed it before.

How could a flashback make you remember all your life's memories?

Until now, as this happened to him, he finally understood that it was all true.

Perhaps everyone experiences this before they die, which is why this secret might never be told.

In these final moments, he surprisingly didn't feel fear.

Instead, he was calm inside, only wishing for a bit more time to carry more memories with him.

"Actually, time doesn't exist; we are all just on a singularity, so it's not strange that you experience this..."

Suddenly, a voice echoed in his ear.

"What!!?"

Morris's slowly closing eyes abruptly opened wide, a look of shock directed towards where the voice came from.

Before him stood a figure in a purple-black robe, seemingly floating in the air.

A luminous shimmer surrounded him, indistinguishable in color, as if even space itself blurred.

Everything around had come to a halt.

His teammates' grief-stricken faces, the mutant's pouncing motion, even the flying pebbles were suspended in mid-air.

"Who... who are you? What's... happening to me?"

Morris felt his mind shutting down.

Before this mission, he had envisioned possible fates.

Completing the task safely, being devoured by a monster, turning into a mutant from exposure to red light, or accidentally falling from a high building.

But none of these scenarios included the current situation.

All he could say was, this was beyond belief, even in his wildest imagination.

"I intended to survey this area, didn't expect to find you here. It seems your fate wasn't sealed..."

The person slowly descended from the air, standing beside him, surveying the surroundings.

At this moment, Morris suddenly realized, his eyes widened in astonishment.

"You, you are the Star Lord!?"

He struggled to stand, but severely injured, his efforts were in vain.

Seeing this, Zhang Xiaoman gently extended a finger, touching his forehead.

A green glow flickered, and a surge of life force flowed from the movement into his body, healing all his injuries.

Healing Touch.

A green skill obtained from the system's lottery, quickly restoring the target's life force.

Its effectiveness was due to being enhanced to a purple level.

"I'm... I'm healed!?"

Morris trembled, displaying an incredulous expression.

His severe wounds healed in an instant?

But when he thought of the person's identity, he was at ease.

Since he is the Star Lord, it's reasonable for him to achieve all this.

By now, Zhang Xiaoman had assessed the entire area, roughly understanding what had transpired here.

"I didn't expect you five to accomplish this..."

"With so many Super Mutants, even for an Awakener, it wouldn't be easy to handle. This genuinely surprises me..."
