"Huh? Did you guys hear something?"
By the water reservoir, Jiko suddenly pricked up his ears, looking hesitantly towards his teammates.
The group immediately looked at him in surprise, a faint sense of dread rising in their hearts.
"Shh!"
Jiko sharply raised his index finger, indicating for everyone to be quiet.
He then craned his neck, as if trying hard to listen to something.
"Boom~Boom~Boom~"
The muffled sound came again from the side, this time noticeably louder than before.
Now it wasn't just Jiko; everyone present clearly heard the thudding.
"Not good! They're not dead yet!"
Morris's expression changed as he abruptly turned his head towards the direction of the sound.
As if to prove his words true, a loud bang ensued, and the heavy metal valve above the reservoir shattered into a large hole.
Soon after, a green arm reached out from below, and a tall mutant slowly climbed up, standing before them.
"Hiss..."
Witnessing this scene, the hunters of the Rat Exterminator Team couldn't help but gasp.
The mutant before them could no longer be merely described as "tall"; he was a true monster!
Judging by the scenes they just saw, normal mutants stood about two meters twenty centimeters tall; some burly mutant leaders could reach around two meters fifty.
Don't be fooled by their unimpressive height compared to the true Alien Species.
But this height, when compared to ordinary humans, is almost twice taller.
Imagine, when you stand before someone, with your head only reaching their waist, needing to tilt your head up more than 70 degrees to see their face—that's an overwhelming sense of pressure.
However, the mutant before them was even more exaggerated than those leaders.
His height had long exceeded two meters, roughly looking at least three point five meters, almost approaching the height of an adult giraffe.
Humans standing before him felt like standing at a giant's feet, reaching only his thighs.
Moreover, his shoulder width was at least one and a half meters, coupled with explosive muscular strength, giving the impression of a humanoid tank.
With this physique, breaking through that heavy metal valve wasn't so surprising.
"Guys... I think we might have a problem..."
Jiko, the burly black man, closest in proximity, retreated two steps cautiously, for the first time feeling insignificantly small before a human-like creature.
"Our bullets have run out. I've taken four bottles of Sun Essence Potion, should be able to stall him for a while, you guys seize the chance to take the Boss away first!"
Jiko said gravely to his companions behind him.
At that moment, he felt a solemn aura surrounding him.
From his teammates' perspective, perhaps his stout back had already become the most beautiful sight in the world.
"Fool! No need for you to cover us! You look like a ten-year-old kid in front of this guy, hurry up and run together!!"
Andrea shouted loudly.
"No, I think it's more like a seven-year-old."
Beside him, Rumen chimed in with a serious look.
"Damn it..."
Jiko almost felt a brain hemorrhage, even blurting out the newly learned Chinese he had picked up.
"Is now really the time to discuss this!?"
He yelled back at them.
Their blunt words had shattered his fantasy, wrecking the sacrificial mood he painstakingly built for himself.
"Huff... Huff..."
In front, the over three-meter-high giant mutant was gasping heavily.
Evidently, breaking the valve underwater had taxed him greatly.
"Federation... Genetic Warrior... Die... Die!"
Perhaps the larger they were, the less sharp their minds; this giant mutant spoke even more sluggishly than his previous underlings.
"Watch out! He's coming over!"
Morris promptly warned upon witnessing the scene.
Amidst his busyness, he didn't forget to glance at the breached hole on the valve.
Seeing only one rushed out, he sighed in relief internally.
The water attack was still effective; it's just that this guy's constitution was overly exaggerated, barely escaping.
With this in mind, he quickly shouted towards Rumen's direction:
"Grenade!!"
Simultaneously, the bespectacled man brought out the last collected Shock Grenade, accurately throwing it towards the monster.
"Beep~Beep~"
This time, the grenade was set to explode prematurely, sounding just twice before bursting open.
However, the scene before them was shocking.
The big mutant suddenly reached out to grab the grenade.
Then, like clamping a firecracker, he clasped it with both hands, actually making it explode right in his palm.
"Buzz~"
The Shock Grenade capable of tearing apart a normal mutant went off like a dud in his hands, quietly dissipating.
"Roar!!!"
The big guy, pained, roared loudly.
The group could see his hand turned crimson with blood, mangled and torn.
But this was their last grenade.
All the ammo in the firearms was exhausted earlier, now just as Jiko said, they could only run away.
