[BORN TO BE KING] S7 - ARDENT OF THE END

INTERLUDE: IMPERIUS ACADEMY AND HER TEACHERS 1

INTERLUDE: IMPERIUS ACADEMY AND HER TEACHERS 1

A Report Written By Maiden Braya through observations over a year's worth of time.

Know that this overview of Imperius Academy is flavored by my thoughts and what I have seen. I have never seen a place of learning teach in the same manner as Imperius Academy does. It is usually more of a master/disciple relationship, but Imperius Academy has done away with all such formalities.

General Overview:

Imperius Academy is composed of three different levels. The first-year student. The second-year student. The third-year student. The academy vastly functions differently depending on what type of student you are.

A first-year student is like a young chick, fresh from the egg. They are lost without direction and guidance. This is what teachers such as Wil Silverhand, Sonya Koi, Lane Drumian, and more we will discuss later in the report, do.

First years are solely within the academy to absorb and learn everything they can within that first year. Their schedule is split between several classes and spread over multiple days.

A typical student under a Magi-Physical Combat and Utilization schedule or for their secondary option Battle Alchemist and Application will look like this:

1. First Day – First Path:

2. Breakfast, 5 A.M. to 8 A.M.

3. Class X Homeroom, 8 A.M. to 10 A.M.

4. Basic and Intermediate Runic Formations, 11 AM – 12 PM.

5. Spell-Sword Incantations and Implementation I, 1 P.M. – 2 P.M.

6. Break/Lunch 2 P.M. – 4 P.M.

7. Elective: Tactics and Knight Etiquette Ⅰ , 4 P.M. – 5 P.M.

8. Elective: A Study of Knight Orders Ⅰ , 7 P.M. – 8 P.M.

9. Dinner, 8 P.M. – 11 P.M.

10. Second Day – Second Path:

11. Breakfast, 5 A.M. to 8 A.M.

12. Class X Homeroom, 8 A.M. to 10 A.M.

13. Mage's Alchemy I, 11 AM – 12 PM.

14. Battle Alchemy I, 1 P.M. – 2 P.M.

15. Break/Lunch 2 P.M. – 4 P.M.

16. Elective: A History of Battle Alchemist and Achievements, 4 P.M. – 5 P.M.

17. Elective: Experimental Alchemy Ⅰ , 7 P.M. – 8 P.M.

18. Dinner, 8 P.M. – 11 P.M.

Rinse and repeat for the next four more days until the weekend arrives. Outside of the homeroom, there is one class that is mandatory for every single class, no matter the pathway. Basic and Intermediate Runic Formations is a required class for every freshman to pass.

Why?

It is believed the Chosen intends to vastly upgrade the comprehension and understanding of runes throughout the population, starting within his very own academies. This effort has not gone unnoticed, as [Imperius Mages] are more ready to face a variety of mages, unlike their peers from different academies. Knowledge is more open and shared at Imperius Academy. It is one of the reasons students from all over Edryan now try their best to get accepted into the school. Not to mention the prized bloodline purification potions available for ten thousand Imperius Points.

Nobles hold their power over Edryan in a few ways… bloodlines and rarities. Imperius Academy has nearly every student, if they're not stupid , graduate with a rare bloodline. Purchasing a [Bloodline Purification Potion] for ten thousand IP. This generally puts them at the level of a baron's household in terms of the ability to receive attribute points. Of course, most students save enough by the time they're late into the second year, if not mid-way into the third year.

Returning to the topic at hand, this is how first-year students are nurtured. They are to be a sponge and absorb as much information as they possibly can. Learning about two different pathways. Some have already chosen what class line they wish to follow, but an early start on a secondary class or side profession will not hurt. Others are truly undecided, and this option allows them to explore deeper into what these pathways will entail.

Their final is a test, albeit a dangerous one; it is a test to see if that chick truly has what it takes to walk the path the Chosen has set out for them. Or if they are here to try and get some benefits without work. His Highness Lawruthian is not running a charity. My observations have told me that none of this is free or from the generosity of His Highness's heart. These children have signed up to the crown, and the crown will get its due .

A second-year student is an adolescent chick. It no longer sticks close to the mother hen as it did previously. It has gained a class and is excited to use it. A second year will spend far less time in the classroom than a first year did.

Throughout the first year, these students have come to understand basic and intermediate runes – tier zero through tier three. They will understand the basics of their chosen class and more about the requirements for it.

Now it is time to put that understanding to the test. They have gone through their available class trees and selected their first five skills. They will train these skills until level fifteen when they unlock their next five skills.

A second-year's responsibility is like that of the adolescent chick. It is to learn of their newfound powers and understand the best way to wield them.

Their class schedule will look something like this:

1. Breakfast 5 A.M. to 8 A.M.

2. Class X Homeroom, 8 A.M. to 10 A.M.

3. [Class] Related Class/s – Basic, 11 AM – 2 P.M.

4. Break/Lunch 2 P.M. – 4 P.M.

5. [Class] Related Class/s – Esoteric or Elective, 4 P.M. – 8 P.M.

6. Dinner, 8 P.M. – 11 P.M.

An [Imperius Combat Trainee] will be in a related class using their skills, perhaps they will traverse to one of the surrounding forests and fight beasts on the outskirts, or perhaps they will spend the time fighting against their peers. Regardless, they are constantly using and learning their skills in different environments and in multiple ways. They are gaining levels rapidly as they experience these changes to their classes and mentality. Leveling through worldly experience and their class requirements. It is quite a genius system of skilled control to ensure these students are pushed in the right manner. The devices that display their rank in the academy play an important role.

It is a runic device of the like I have never seen. My inquiries have led me to believe it is a work from Margret Musa with the help of His Highness. To what extent? Oh, how I wish for only an hour of His Highness's time. These bracelets, Imperius Bracelets, are discussed later in the report.

A third-year student is no longer an adolescent. It has now become a fully-fledged chicken! It has left the comfort of the nest as nearly an outright professional. Third-years are mainly in charge of themselves. Excluding homeroom, third years are allowed to pursue their path in whatever manner they choose. They have understood the system, their class and skills, and various other things of importance. If they're smart, they've upgraded their bloodline, and if they're not of a crafter class and are of a warrior, they've brought themselves precious to decent gear that others outside of the academy would view with envy.

A third-year student is a fully capable class holder, and they must choose the option to begin their fifteen-year service to the crown now or attend Imperius College. If they so choose, the latter, they will begin to explore far-advanced subjects and more. Imperius College is an entirely different beast.

These departments are true to their names and functions and interact with one another in a multitude of ways. Each has its own area for each year of study, and they interact with one another in cross-department applications. If a student is smart, they will do their best to have a mix of two of these departments. The knowledge freely shared on academy grounds is what produces these high-tier Imperius Classes. With a greater understanding of what a class entails, there is a greater opportunity to receive a Rare or even better class.

Each of these pathways offers a wide variety of classes that are uniquely tailored to produce a resulting [Class] that the student desires. Information on these classes is available before the student has even made their choice. Before becoming a first-year student, a pamphlet with class information is handed to each student. This pamphlet will include class names and descriptions, but avoid showing the exact required attributes and other factors.

Every student will come prepared, knowing what pathway they walk.

Imperius Teachers and Teacher Rankings:

I've conducted a small interview with the top ten teachers of Imperius Academy. From rank one Wil Silverhand to rank ten Joy Nepos, I've done a detailed analysis of what I've been told or have come to believe through the words of our interview.

Wil Silverhand:

1. Who:

1.1 Wil Silverhand, a half-elf, half ?

1.2 Wil Silverhand is a semi-private individual who has kept his background relatively hidden. It is believed he is an outcast from the middle kingdoms who escaped to Edryan from a young age. Perhaps an elf of the Ivory Nation?

2. What:

2.1 He is the teacher of Class One. Previously, he was one of the best rangers available to the Adventurers Association and could clear a four-starred dungeon solo.

2.2 His confirmed class is [True Wind-Flame Ranger], a mythical archer class with True magical affinities of wind and fire. His ability to dish out damage is extreme , and he has been regarded as the most dangerous archer in Edryan.

3. Why:

3.1 The exact reasoning Wil teaches at Imperius Academy remains a mystery. I, Maiden Braya, believe he is searching for divinity or a method to obtain it.

Sonya Koi:

1. Who:

1.1 Sonya Koi is a magi human from the Koi high noble family.

1.2 She is the third daughter of the current house leader and is the Koi family's closest representation to His Highness Lawruthian.

2. What:

2.1 She is the teacher of Class Two. She is no warrior, nor mage, but an artisan of the culinary arts. A [Luminous Gourmet] that specializes in sweets. After the success of Law's Sweet Golems, the Koi family, known for their culinary mastery, sent Sonya as their representative. Somehow, she's ended up as a teacher at Imperius Academy.

3. Why:

3.1 The Koi family has always been the representative in the sweet goods market in Edryan. It is clear they wish to further deepen their relationship with His Highness and represent him through LSG.

Lane Drumian:

1. Who:

1.1 Lane Drumian is a renowned scion of the Drumian house.

1.2 She is a cousin to Liana Drumian and a renowned Spell-Sword by her right. She specializes in ice affinity and has become an excellent fighter who excels around it.

2. What:

2.1 She is the teacher of Class Three and has risen quickly to this rank, as this is only her second year of teaching at Imperius Academy.

2.2 As stated by her: "Teaching a new generation the methods of the Spell Sword has always been inspiring! Don't you think it's fun?"

3. Why:

3.1 It is very likely Lane Drumian is here for her breakthrough. Although slightly younger than Liana, the woman has always played second fiddle to her older cousin.

Aurora Caden:

1. Who:

1.1 [Sword Saint] Aurora is the only other Spell Sword that has managed to reach the top ten in Imperius Academy.

1.2 Her rise as a [Sword Saint] is unexpected as she comes from the Caden family. A small family that excels in Enchanting-type classes.

2. What:

2.1 The renowned teacher of Class Four, the Saint, was displaced from her previous position as third.

2.2 She enjoys taking on disciples who she teaches a wide variety of skills related to wielding the blade.

2.3 The Saint originally rose to prominence during the chaotic events of the rising of our [Iron-Blooded Queen] through a series of adventures with Wil Silverhand, Taclar Oni'Lu, and other members of the Crimson Eye adventuring group.

3. Why:

3.1 It is unknown the reason the [Sword Saint] chose to teach at Imperius Academy. Some suspect it was Wil Silverhand, the man suspected to be her partner, who convinced her to join him.

Priest Mae Gamal:

1. Who:

1.1 Just one of the many representations of our Goddess Madris on campus. Mae Gamal is the oldest of a new generation of Gamal scions. Mae is a growing leader in the church and is recognized as one of the contenders for [Mother of Magi 1st Daughter]. Her faith in our Goddess is no less than the Reverent ranking.

2. What:

2.1 She is the first daughter of Femi Gamal and is strict in the discipline of Class Five.

2.2 She has quickly established the church in the academy and specializes in teaching classes within the Worship and Weapons department.

3. Why:

3.1 It is well-known why Mae Gamal chose to teach at Imperius Academy. A large amount of fresh talent is exposed to Imperius Academy yearly. Capturing a portion of that talent for the church would have massive benefits in helping Mae gain attributes and secure her position to become the next head of the church.

Amaya Khan:

1. Who:

1.1 A renowned general from the Khan family. Amaya is from a generation that grew up under the victorious High Queen of Edryan.

2. What:

2.1 Teacher of Class Six, Amaya, is the department head of the Commander Development Cabinet or CDC.

2.2 She is from the exclusive High Noble Khan family and is their representative in the developing Imperius Academy.

3. Why:

3.1 The General would not give her why as she chose to lead and teach the promising talent of this department.

3.2 It is my personal thought that the Khan wishes to reintroduce their presence to the Greater Edryan society. I should mention that Amaya showed interest in becoming His Highness's first general, but my sources tell me that the Indrians paid a huge price to ensure their young scion fulfilled that position.

Moriah Angelo:

1. Who:

1.1 The department head of Workforce Theatre, Moriah Angelo, is a force to be reckoned with. Since a young age, the angelic woman has striven to ensure the [Worker] class is recognized and appreciated on all levels.

2. What:

2.1 The teacher of Class Seven, Moriah, ensures the worker class has its representation.

2.2 She is an expert merchant and specializes in ensuring the most versatile class can complete any job in the more mundane fields.

2.3 Whether it's the business management or ensuring Imperius Academy is always in top shape, Moriah Angelo keeps the grounds running and the magic flowing.

3. Why:

3.1 A personal statement from the Baroness: "How could I not teach at Imperius Academy? A place in which His Highness Lawruthian wants to represent the best and brightest of our great Edryan society. It is my responsibility to ensure the [Worker] class is represented fairly and that it receives its just due respect."

Vinyard Consus:

1. Who:

1.1 The eldest son of Vivian Consus, Vinyard, is a prodigal leader in understanding animals, plants, and all things nature.

2. What:

2.1 Vinyard is the teacher of Class Eight and the department head of Husbandry and Forestry.

2.2 His class is [Consus Greenweaver] and the tome upon his side radiates powerful magic.

3. Why:

3.1 Vinyard is a new teacher at Imperius Academy, as it is his second year teaching. When asked why, he stated, "Someone needs to keep an eye on my brat of a sister."

Taclar Oni'Lu:

1. Who:

1.1 A branch member of the Oni clan, Viscount Taclar Oni'Lu, is a Chi user of renowned might.

2. What:

2.1 A former member of the Crimson Eye adventuring guild, Taclar is a stern man who excels in delivering powerful attribute-limiting blows. He ensures Class Nine is disciplined and responsive to all situations.

3. Why:

3.1 Although Taclar has not bothered to comment. It is suspected he has become a teacher following Aurora Caden.

Joy Nepos:

1. Who:

1.1 The newest department head of Alchemy and Transformations, the daughter of Prirro Nepos, is a rising alchemist with great magical might.

2. What:

2.1 The last to enter the ranks of the top ten teachers, Joy follows a bright and… explosive teaching regime.

2.2 She has held a proven track record of injuring the most students with her… alchemic means. If not for healing them all afterwards, it is unknown whether she'd still teach at Imperius Academy.

3. Why:

3.1 Joy is a brilliant alchemist who, under the instructions of her father, must temper herself lest she damn herself with her radical experiments, as recounted by the woman personally.

Imperius Points:

Imperius Points are calculated through an unknown method that both students and teachers know little about. It is speculated that they are connected to some sort of station that amasses a collection of information and then distributes points to both teachers and students through this method. This magic system is unknown, and none of the figures I've inquired with have spoken deeper into the subject. Therefore, I have established a small report on how I believe the points and system work.

How are the points distributed?

Each student is tied to a mana signature or energy in some format. This signature is then tied to their bracelets, allowing the system to distinguish between who is who. A magic signature is unique to each individual and is extremely hard to fake. Upon the bracelet, I've detected several rune-works used in the magical security of goods and more. That is how I believe the points are tied to an individual student.

How are actions graded?

I've come to believe through several months of intense study that the actions are graded based on an individual's performance regarding their known skill level. Skill not as in-class skill, but skill as general skills and knowledge based on the situation they find themselves in.

An [Imperius Warrior] who defeats a certain number of difficult (to his level) beasts will receive points based on that action. Yet if he levels up and confronts the same type of beast, he will receive less IP, as he can defeat them far more easily than previously. Of course, they would still receive the same amount of IP for the selling of quality beast materials. IP is rewarded through trial and risk for warriors.

The same cannot be said for other class holders. Generally, non-combative classes or artisans receive Imperius Points by developing their talents and skills. Perhaps they've improved their rune-working skills, or perhaps they created a new device that is outside the norm. Regardless, their item is graded on an unknown level. Unfortunately, one is not willing to speak heavily on this topic. The Abode would pay handsomely for such a system as several other ensembles…
