Chapter 372: Fire Torches and Those Who Bear Them (Part 3)

"Those bastards!"

"Boss, why don't we launch an immediate attack on the Empire!"

"Yeah, Boss, other Resistance Organizations are too afraid to show up, but we are the Supermodified people, we've got the force to assassinate high officials, capture warships, not to mention we have our trump card!"

"Notify all contact points, destroy all intelligence data, and enter full silence passive reception mode."

Catherine said:

"We've worked so hard for so long, now what we need to do is wait."

"Indeed, now we do have the basic conditions to start an uprising, but currently the Empire is mired in a war with other strong nations, internal conflicts will surely intensify, we have the chance to unite with more Resistance Organizations."

"To overthrow the Empire, what we need is not millions of machines or warriors, but the rebellious spirit of tens of billions of people. What we need to ignite is this flame."

"Beyond that, any other sacrifices are meaningless, understood?"

"Yes!"

"I'm going to take a rest now, wake me up immediately if there's any situation."

Catherine nodded slightly, turned, and walked toward the passage on the side. A few men and women exchanged glances, and their expressions were much more relaxed.

The boss himself went to sleep, indicating that they were quite confident they could weather this storm.

Inside the lounge, Catherine activated a shielding device, tightened her lips, and her expression grew grimmer.

She walked behind a simple desk, opened her communicator, thought silently for a few minutes, and found that special contact to send a message.

[Thank you for the warning, otherwise we could have lost at least half of our core members.]

The other party immediately replied: [No need to be polite, these are just my boss's instructions. Captain Catherine, my boss might release some statements implying you and he have long since parted ways, I hope you understand.]

Catherine sighed and continued typing:

[I now feel that he's letting me mess around, cooperating with me to play a game of uprising.

[I am now just worried that, after my likely failure in the uprising, he'll capture me and say - see, you tried, now stay quietly by my side.

[I recently realized through thinking, he's too strong.

[To have developed such a massive power under the Empire's nose, controlled the Supermodified Organization, and gained the ability to lightly challenge the royal family's influence and civilian reputation.]

The other party sent a smiley emoji and continued replying: [Haven't you noticed? Your future rebel army is also a semi-direct force within my boss's power map.]

Catherine was taken aback: [Was this all calculated by him long ago?]

[Not really, my boss just respects your choice, but your development path was previously within my calculations.]

[You? Who exactly are you?]

[Me? I am my boss's assistant, the boss's most trusted aide, you can call me Lyu.]

"Lyu?" Catherine softly mouthed the name.

Text continued to appear on the projection screen infront of her:

[I can tell you now, to overthrow the Empire, relying on the existing resistance forces alone won't even accomplish one percent, but the existence of resistance forces, rebel army, and revolutionary army has immensely symbolic significance, you are the torch, and this torch is responsible for lighting the dark before the dawn.

[I hope in the future you can continue being an ally beyond personal feelings, a partner in arms with my boss.

[The power my boss holds actually far exceeds your imagination, and the strength of the enemy also far exceeds your imagination.]

Catherine raised her hand to cover her forehead: [Can you briefly depict it?]

[Do you think, the modular design of Emperor Star, and absorbing an entire constant star's energy as a reserve, is simply to showcase the Empire's technology?

[In the Empire's dimension ascension plan, Emperor Star is the core of ascension, of course, I haven't found the core data here yet.]

[But no need to worry, that's not the enemy you need to concern yourself with.]

[Please be the fire, illuminate the darkness of the Empire, burn the shackles off the people.]

Catherine replied: [I can only be the forerunner holding the torch, the real fire is not me, it's us.]

[You are increasingly acquiring the aura of a rebel leader.]

Catherine shook her head smiling, ending the chat with a relatively cheerful mood.

...

Half a day later.

Empire's Frontier.

On a transport ship that had just returned to Empire territory, Yang Ming sat quietly in a corner holding a military specialized book.

Daphne hurriedly came over, sat in front of Yang Ming, and said in a low voice: "Things are getting a bit complicated."

Without lifting his head, Yang Ming asked: "What's going on?"

"The Supermodified Organization and the Military Intelligence Bureau cannot find Catherine's whereabouts, along with forty-two Supermodified people, they've confirmed there might be some sort of organization between them, which had shown signs earlier but was not given attention."

Click.

Yang Ming closed the book, and looked up at the rather anxious Daphne.

"You would lose your composure over something like this?"

"Of course not," Daphne huffed, "Uncle Eno is furious, those were important experimental materials for him, especially Catherine... Uncle had complained before that he hadn't collected valuable data for a long time, he previously requested a batch of powerful Supermodified people from the organization, Catherine was on the list... this may not be a coincidence."

Yang Ming nodded slightly.

Sorry, it is a coincidence, Catherine's preparation for the uprising has been ongoing for quite some time, this time it was just an accidental exposure.

But it's also avoided a bigger crisis.

Daphne said: "Can you find out where she is?"

"Sorry, I can't contact her either," Yang Ming placed the specially made wristwatch in front of Daphne, all data inside had naturally been altered by Lyu, fabricating all chat records, "You can confirm for yourself."

Daphne hesitated but ultimately picked up the watch to search through it carefully.

Soon enough, she handed the watch back.

"From now on, do not speak up or meddle in this matter, I'll handle it for you."

Boss Yang smiled and nodded.

"Are we still heading to the Military Intelligence Bureau next?"

"Yes, you first need to gain some actual power, Major General Atro of the Military Intelligence Bureau has a good relationship with you, it's just right that he becomes your subordinate."

Ah well, relying on occasional support like this might not be bad, it certainly is quite stress-free.
