Infinite wealth In A New World

Chapter 260: Are You Kidding Me?!!

Ethan settled onto the luxurious sofa, a practiced, flattering smile plastered on his face.

"Ahem." He cleared his throat, the sound a little too loud in the sudden silence.

"My prince, why are you guys here?" He directed the question at Lewis, slowly panning his towards Eve, who stood with an almost supernatural stillness.

In the corner, Jinx remained an island of indifference, her attention wholly absorbed by the glowing screen of her handheld console, the rhythmic tapping of buttons the only honest sound in the room.

Lewis assessed Ethan for a sharp second before turning to Sunny. "Oh, I'm not the one looking for you. It's King God Wolf."

Ethan's head snapped to Sunny. 'Why would he be here?'

Sunny, radiating an aura of casual yet absolute authority, spoke. "They will be holding Patrick's funeral in two days... And I heard your family deals with decorations, so I came here to employ you. Patrick was a very important figure, and I want to do my part." Sunny's eyes, like chips of pure gold, settled on Ethan's face.

"Where are your daughters? I heard you have two daughters." He added, his gaze unwavering, studying the subtle shifts in Ethan's composure.

"Two... Two daughters?" Ethan felt a cold prickle of fear. He glanced at Molana, his wife, then back at Eve, whose face remained a beautiful, blank canvas.

'Doesn't he knows Eve is my daughter? So they aren't here for revenge or anything, only to employ us... Phew.' The thought was a surge of relief so strong it made his knees weak. He failed to notice the shared, almost bored glance between Sunny and Ellen. To them, Ethan's thoughts were as loud as a shout.

"Oh! You must be mistaken, God Wolf... I only have one daughter." He said, the lie sliding off his tongue with practiced ease. "Should I call my 'only' daughter?"

'Ok, he doesn't recognize her anymore as his daughter... Let's see if he will stick to it.' Sunny internally agreed. With a barely perceptible flick of his wrist, a platinum bank card appeared.

Before the avaricious eyes of Ethan and Molana, he gently placed it on the center table. The card seemed to capture and magnify the room's light.

"There is five hundred billion on this card," Sunny stated, his voice a low rumble. "I want to give it to your eldest daughter. Please, can you call her?"

"Of course!" Ethan's eyes, instantly alight with pure, naked greed, zeroed in on the card. He quickly messaged Evelyn through his cosmic brain, urging her to rush back.

"It's done," he announced, breathless.

"Yes. Yes. She will be here," Molana chimed in, her entire focus glued to the fortune resting a foot away.

Josephine watched the entire exchange—the naked greed, the casual betrayal—and slowly shook her head, a soft sigh of disgust escaping her lips.

'So they gave my right to Evelyn. So funny. So predictable,' Eve thought, a new layer of frost settling over her expression. 'This time, I won't just stand in the shadows.'

_

In less than five minutes, Evelyn burst into the hall, a flurry of hurried breaths and rearranged hair. She stopped dead, her gaze sweeping over the illustrious company.

"God... God Wolf?!" The shock was palpable. As her eyes landed on her sister, a deep tremor went through her. Evelyn froze.

'What is she doing here?! I thought she was dead?!' The familiar venom of envy and fear mixed in her gut. She quickly looked at her parents. Their faces were calm, fixed on the table:

'Mum and Dad aren't panicking, so everything is ok, right?'

Confused but recovering quickly, she offered a practiced, graceful bow. "Greetings honored guests."

Seeing Evelyn, Lewis and Sunny both raised an eyebrow:

"Mr. Ethan, when you said you had one daughter, I thought you were kidding." Lewis turned to Ethan, his tone hardening.

"Don't forget I know your family. I might not have seen your girls, but I know they are two. What happened to the second?"

"The second? Well..." Molana hissed before Ethan could intervene, the lure of the gold card overriding her common sense.

"The eldest was a slut, and a ruthless woman, so we removed her from the family! She is no longer a member of this household!"

"Language!" Josephine snapped, her voice surprisingly sharp. Her eyes darted to Ellen.

"...?!"

Molana's eyes widened at the unexpected reprimand from Josephine. She swallowed hard and offered a clumsy apology. "I am sorry, Queen Josephine... That girl just made me so angry."

"She is that bad? What did she do?" Sunny asked, leaning forward, his feigned curiosity designed to pull the threads of the lie apart.

Evelyn, sensing the perfect opportunity, seized the spotlight. She risked a glance at Eve, then turned her full, tearful attention to God Wolf:

"My sister followed many men, and placed our family names in the mud countless times... Not only that, she also burnt me with her fire just because I tried to help her." Her voice cracked with false emotion.

"I felt so bad after my father kicked her out, and I set out to look for her... Maybe give her a good place to stay," she continued, her hands trembling for effect.

"She not only slapped me, she also... murdered someone, and..." She exhaled dramatically, letting the unspoken accusations hang in the air. "I can't say all the bad things she did..."

"Wow... She did all that? I can't believe it. Tell me! Where is she! She should pay for everything!" Lewis surged to his feet, eyes blazing, his chest puffed out. He was desperate to prove his worth to God Wolf.

"I hate injustice! And I can't sit back with a criminal moving around!" he yelled, completely blind to the figure standing just behind him.

Eve's jaw tightened, her hands clenching into fists that whitened her knuckles. The years of forced silence, the mountain of lies, and the sheer audacity of her sister's performance fueled a controlled, burning rage.

"Sister, I know you are angry, but it's the truth... You won't slap me again, will you?" Evelyn said, projecting a slight, pitiful tremor, perfectly playing the victim.

"Who is she! Just tell me where she is!" Lewis roared, ready to leap into action.

"She is my sister!" Evelyn shouted, her voice laced with triumph, her finger pointing—not with a sister's pain, but with a predator's final, cold accusation—directly at Eve.

"....?!!"

Lewis turned his head, the momentum of his dramatic turn carrying him around. He saw the figure Evelyn was pointing at, the woman with the blank, beautiful face who stood closest to God Wolf's inner circle. His blood ran cold. The rage drained from his face, replaced by a ghastly pallor.

He slowly, agonizingly, sank back into his seat.

"...?!"

Everyone, save for Sunny and Ellen, was stunned by the abrupt deflation of the fiery man. Lewis's mind was racing, a single, horrifying truth slamming into him.

'You kidding me?! I was yelling about dealing with a commander under King God Wolf?!'

The world was structured around power, and Lewis knew his place:

'Even my father won't offend any commander under this God of wealth, not when each one of them have more than one hundred million Grand Class Mercenaries behind them.'

The woman he had just threatened was not a criminal; she was a sovereign power.
