Don't Mess with That Dragon

Chapter 118: The Stray Beastman's Choice

Ga!!!

Rolling clouds of dust surged into the sky, large swathes of trees were crushed down, accompanied by a painful shriek, the giant beast with scars all over its body collapsed with a boom upon the ground, breathing its last breaths.

"Whew, it's finally dead!"

The sweat-drenched Dark Elf lowered the drawn bow and arrow, exhaled deeply, while the exhausted Beastmen surrounding him also relaxed, with many collapsing directly onto the ground.

This siege had exhausted them too much.

The giant beast's strength had surpassed their imaginations.

Even with nearly half of the Dragon Nest Tribe's elite gathered here, quite a few Beastmen were crushed to death by the terrifying power of the giant beast during the encirclement, aside from the previous attack on the Blood Claw Tribe, this was the Dragon Nest Tribe's second casualty during an expedition.

But fortunately, with the perseverance like water dripping through stone, they finally wore out and killed the giant beast in front of them.

"Everyone take a rest, then quickly pack up and head back, this is not a place to linger."

Although it was rare for giant beasts to appear near the Dragon Nest Tribe, but with the cold winter's arrival, giant beasts began to roam about, it's possible for them to stray near here, the corpse of the beast in front of them is proof, and having the first one means there might be a second. In their current state, encountering another giant beast would be troublesome.

Though utterly exhausted, the Beastmen understood the urgency of the situation, and thanks to their military training, they knew to follow orders, hence they quickly stood up, dragging their tired bodies and tied the giant beast's corpse with ropes, pulling it towards the direction of the Dragon Nest Tribe.

Dust rolled and dispersed into the sky.

A long while passed, as Dom, the bewildered boarman sat on the ground still shaken.

"Complete, it's over? I'm not dead?"

The almost terrified Dom stood up frantically, checked himself hastily, and after realizing no parts were missing, breathed a sigh of relief, yet inside he felt more like he'd survived a catastrophe.

Almost, he almost died!

For the first time ever, Dom felt a surge of fear towards death.

The sky gradually dimmed, the remaining stray Beastmen seemed to notice the upheaval here, and gathered from outside.

Yet this time, the wandering team originally had fifty or sixty, now only twenty or thirty were left.

"What do we do next, where's our next destination?"

The disoriented wandering Beastmen gathered together, the day's events left them all still shaken, confused about the future.

That horrible giant beast, along with the Beastmen army that easily slaughtered it, no matter which side, were forces they absolutely could not provoke.

Thinking of the dangers ahead, just like this, all the wandering Beastmen shivered, feeling as if the air grew colder.

"I've decided, maybe we should seek refuge with those people."

Suddenly, a Beastman spoke up.

"Are they the powerful Beastman army that appeared today?"

"That's right, with such powerful strength, surely food won't be too scarce, their immense strength must be able to shelter us through the coming cold winter season."

"But will they accept us?"

"Who knows, but not trying feels unsatisfactory."

The wandering Beastmen gathered around the fire, discussing slowly, while the boarman Dom sat silently in a corner, many thoughts crossed his mind.

But undeniably, at this moment, he was indeed tempted. Unlike those scattered fleeing wandering Beastmen, Dom had witnessed the strength of Dragon Nest Tribe's Beastmen firsthand.

The belief in the strength of the domineering, was the acknowledged law in this Barbaric Land. If they could join such a tribe, it would be immense fortune for them.

With the shelter of the strong, not only could they forego worries of safety, but the stronger the tribe, the less chance of food shortages, which was one reason why wandering Beastmen were eager to join strong tribes.

"But, do you know where that tribe is?"

Just then, another wandering Beastman asked.

"At that time we can ask the nearby tribes, surely they'll know something, after all, a tribe strong enough to hunt giant beasts surely won't have a small reputation."

"Alright, starting tomorrow let's ask around one by one."

Anxiously, the wandering Beastmen spent an uneasy night in the forest.

When the sun rose the next day, the wandering Beastmen began searching for nearby tribes, inquiring about the powerful tribe and its situation.

Unexpectedly, the inquiry directly shocked them.

Within a radius of several dozen miles, the only tribe capable of hunting giant beasts was the Dragon Nest Tribe on the distant cliff, and the entire Dragon Nest Tribe's size surprisingly surpassed two thousand, a medium-large tribe with quite a few elite Extraordinary Beastmen within.

And from the vague words of these Beastmen, they learned the Lord of the Dragon Nest Tribe was even more terrifying, rumored to have once roared and shattered the sky and earth, causing half a mountainside to collapse, easily defeating and annexing a mid-level medium tribe of a thousand, truly fearsome beyond comparison.

Though the Beastmen of these tribes tried hard to portray Dragon Nest Tribe as a cruel demon, it couldn't deter these wandering Beastmen's longing hearts, as they set off towards Dragon Nest Tribe after learning detailed information.

If they could submit and enter the Dragon Nest Tribe, they'd safely endure the cold winter season, under the care of such strong figures, what dangers could there be within the entire tribe? And once the saying spread of Dragon Nest Tribe recruiting wandering Beastmen through smoke signals, these wandering Beastmen hoped, like their predecessors, to have a chance to join the Dragon Nest Tribe.

With the growing reputation of Dragon Nest Tribe, more Beastmen sought to join, and those Beastmen tribes within the surrounding region didn't hinder the wandering Beastmen's journey towards Dragon Nest Tribe, instead subtly feeling joyous.

Such a large group of wandering Beastmen consumed massively daily, if they could just overpopulate Dragon Nest Tribe until it burst, that would've been wonderful.

Of course, that was merely wishful thinking.

Following Dragon Nest Tribe's growing fame, the wandering Beastmen continuously came from afar, wanting to join the tribe, bringing only slight trouble compared to the immense gains.
