Don't Mess with That Dragon

Chapter 117 Giant Beast

As the cold winter approached, the entire Kawa Great Forest was engulfed in an undercurrent of tension, as the war of blood and fire once again sounded the horn at the Bloody Border. The Beastman armies, lacking sufficient food to survive the winter, surged from all directions to invade the Human World's civilized lands.

It was a grand battle for survival, with countless lives lost each year along that narrow and wide strip. However, none of this had much to do with the Dragon Nest Tribe in the center of the Kawa Great Forest.

Crossing the vast sea of trees, due to the scarcity of food, the further south one went, the fewer traces of Beastmen there were, and the more potent the hidden dangers became.

Unlike the Beastmen at the Bloody Border who could plunder enough supplies from the Human World, the Beastman Tribes further south had no choice but to aim their long spears at their own kind.

Near the interior of the Kawa Forest, sporadic fires of war also spread between tribes. In this desperate world, food was always insufficient. To survive the harsh cold winter, unprepared Beastman Tribes had no alternative but to take up arms and attack other tribes in raids.

The law of the jungle, unveiled starkly in this final moment.

Meanwhile, the great migration began. Some tribes, when strong enough, started pruning the old, weak, sick, and even some of the young and strong were driven away, increasing the number of wandering Beastmen in the Kawa Great Forest.

And for some top-notch Hunters, this was an extremely rare feast!

Wham!!!

A torrent roared in the air, with vast swathes of trees being flattened by the gale, a shadow blotting out the sky appeared above.

Gazing at the terrifying giant figure, with its menacing teeth dripping dreadful acid, drooling, the Beastman team in the forest was instantly filled with terror, scattering like headless flies.

Gah!!!

The Giant Beast let out a strange cry, with a visible sound wave sweeping through the air. The wandering Beastmen, who had barely gathered for rest in the forest, all lamented their parents had not given them a couple more legs, scrambling away in all directions in panic.

But no matter how fast these wandering Beastmen ran, where could they escape to? The Giant Beast stretched its head, pecking the running Beastmen one by one like a rooster pecking rice, splattering crimson blood across the sky, severed limbs raining down to the ground, creating a gruesome carnage amidst the collapsing forest.

One wandering Beastman after another perished, and at the front, the Boarman Dom, hearing the hopeless screams behind, felt his legs go weak, but his survival instinct urged his bulky body into a desperate sprint for life.

This was the perilous Kawa Great Forest, where stopping to rest at any random spot could lead to an unavoidable disaster from above.

Having been cast out for eating too much and lacking special Skills, the Boarman Dom joined a group of wandering Beastmen, collectively sourcing enough food from the forest.

However, everyone in the group knew such days with plentiful food would not last long.

The cold winter was coming soon; by then, the whole forest would turn into a white desert of death. Without a tribal alliance or ample food storage, they would only have a few more days of jumping around.

To find a tribe that could take them in, the temporarily united wandering Beastman team decided to head north, hoping to join the powerful Beastman Tribes at the Bloody Border, securing strong protection to barely endure the cold winter.

Yet, none had expected that, while casually resting at a spot, they would suffer such calamity from above!

"It's over, it's all over!!!"

A fierce wind blasted overhead, accompanied by an all-encompassing shadow, a great disaster and dread engulfed their hearts. The Boarman Dom could clearly feel the enormous beast behind had locked onto him!

Stumbling underfoot, the Boarman Dom fell to the ground, turning around in fright to see the blood-salivating jaws of the Giant Beast rushing at him, about to swallow him whole.

Despair instantly consumed the Boarman Dom's entire being.

At this very moment,

Whoosh!!!

A streak of light pierced through the sky, penetrating the Giant Beast's mouth with fearsome Power, the force even skewing the Beast's head, causing it to sink its teeth into a giant tree, crushing the trunk into fragments.

The Boarman Dom widened his eyes, his face still stricken with terror.

Gah!!!

Meanwhile, the Giant Beast let out a strange cry, angrily turning its head towards the source of the arrow.

Seen not far beyond the forest, a Dark Elf frowned slightly, slowly retracting his longbow. Behind him stood a well-organized team of Beastmen, facing the moving-mountain-like Giant Beast. Their eyes filled with tension, but not a flicker of fear.

"Gah!!!"

The Giant Beast roared loudly, abandoning the Boarman Dom, flapping its ugly meat wings, charging fiercely at the Dark Elf and the team behind him. The moving mountain of flesh surged forward like rolling ocean waves, toppling trees to both sides, stirring up huge clouds of dust, its force was immensely terrifying!

"Everyone, prepare for battle!"

The Dark Elf's expression was grave. The previous policy of Governor Vini was to consolidate forces and avoid provoking these powerful Giant Beasts, but with time, the Giant Beast's path was getting too close to the Dragon Nest Tribe, so they could only strangle the threat in its Cradle.

This time, he brought out more than half of the Dragon Nest Tribe's Beastman Transcendents, the rest were highly mobile Centaur Ranger cavalry. With the Transcendents taking turns confronting in the front, and the Centaur Rangers encircling and shooting, they might slay the Giant Beast at minimal cost.

"Plan One, forward!"

With a wave of the Dark Elf's hand, a team of extraordinarily strong Beastman Transcendents, noticeably taller than the other Beastmen, rushed out with massive Stone Shields, charging at the Giant Beast.

At the same time, the Centaur cavalry behind split to both wings, swiftly galloping around the Giant Beast, drawing bows and nocking arrows. Instantly, arrows rained down like a storm, enveloping the Giant Beast.

Meanwhile, the Dark Elf silently pulled his longbow, the arrow shimmering faintly with Fighting Qi light, the arrow flew swift as lightning, piercing the right leg of the charging Giant Beast.

Suddenly, the Giant Beast stumbled down like an out-of-control speeding truck, crashing down, shattering trees and ground alike into debris.

Concurrently, the Beastman Transcendents bearing huge Stone Shields had already reached the front!
