The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 24: The Light of Salvation

After the illusionary realm disappeared, Fu Xi's soul appeared in front.

Sun Wukong looked towards him.

Fu Xi stood there, tears sliding down his face.

"How could I forget... how could I ever forget..."

His voice was filled with regret and sadness.

Sun Wukong walked over, knowing that this memory was also a tremendous shock for Fu Xi.

"Fu Xi."

Sun Wukong spoke, "Now is not the time to cry."

Fu Xi turned to look at him.

"Get up, fight alongside me."

Sun Wukong said.

Fu Xi shook his head.

"No."

He spoke, "Leave now!"

"Why?"

Sun Wukong asked.

Fu Xi did not reply; suddenly, a light appeared in front of Sun Wukong.

In an instant, the light transformed into a whirlpool, ejecting Sun Wukong.

In the sky, clouds gathered densely as Sun Wukong's Divine Soul returned to his body.

He looked forward, seeing Fu Xi's body glowing with red patterns, watching him with a cold smirk.

"You think you are clever."

Buddha Beads spoke, "But you do not realize one thing – Fu Xi will not cooperate with you."

"Why?"

Sun Wukong stared into his bloodshot eyes and said, "Having remembered the past, why not help me?"

They stood distantly opposed, the blood in one of Fu Xi's eyes gradually receding.

"Buddha Beads promised me."

Fu Xi's lucid spirit spoke, "As long as every 129,000 years forms a cycle, heaven and earth can continue to survive."

"His Majesty transformed into the dao; I must protect the world she left behind and the Six Paths of Reincarnation."

The red light on Fu Xi continued to burn brightly.

To him, as long as Buddha Beads did not destroy the world and Six Paths of Reincarnation, reincarnation is not unacceptable.

"The Chaos is boundless, we cannot even defeat a single Buddha Beads."

Fu Xi spoke again, "How can we provoke even more calamities?"

Faced with the enormous threat, he chose to compromise.

Sun Wukong's expression darkened.

"If that is the case..."

He no longer insisted and gripped Jingu Bang tightly: "Let the battle decide everything."

Terrifying force from the staff surged from his hands, striking towards Fu Xi.

Fu Xi's divine might shone, tumultuous blood Qi bursting forth, retaliating without hesitation.

The war was reignited, in an instant, various storms and flashes of light engulfed the sky battlefield.

On the ground, creatures in the flood were drawn to the battle.

"Beings are foolish, and you are the most foolish of them all!"

Buddha Beads' mocking voice continuously emerged in the sea of fire.

"Fu Xi respects heaven and earth, but you do not."

"So what!"

Sun Wukong's voice replied, "I hold more reverence for the masses than heaven and earth!"

"The common people are but like chaff before dogs, how can they resist a true threat!"

"They are not chaff!"

Sun Wukong shouted, "With arrogance in your heart, how can you see the truth!"

Above the flood, people clenched their hearts watching.

Endless hope soared into the sky, pouring into Sun Wukong.

"Your reincarnation is meaningless!"

Sun Wukong furiously charged forward.

"No one wishes to be controlled!"

Heaven and earth began to roar.

Amidst the roaring flames, Sun Wukong's body emitted cracking sounds under extreme pressure.

Yet, even if it meant opposing the entire cosmos, Sun Wukong intended to shatter these shackles.

"The shackles of reincarnation, I must break them!"

Sun Wukong roared.

A faintly visible shadow suddenly emerged behind Sun Wukong, light rippling from it.

The immense pressure on Sun Wukong suddenly began to dissipate layer by layer.

Endless vital force surged towards him,

In an instant, the bonds on Sun Wukong disappeared.

Sun Wukong's divine might surged tremendously, throwing heavy blows, Jingu Bang collided with Buddha Beads.

The sky trembled, and the world's vital essence surged and circulated to him, as if resonating.

Fu Xi's body shattered in the collision, blood drifting, no longer regenerating.

"How is this possible!"

Buddha Beads startled.

Behind Sun Wukong, a pure white figure gradually appeared.

It was the form of a woman.

She shone brilliantly, standing aloft the clouds, looking down upon them.

Seeing her figure, Fu Xi's eyes lost their bloody hue once more.

Light bathed over Fu Xi, who foolishly gazed upwards into the sky.

"Your Majesty."

Fu Xi's voice was filled with incredulity.

"Sun Wukong is right."

The woman looked upon Fu Xi, her voice melodious as a song, "I recreated the heavens and earth to grant you freedom, not to bind you."

Tears fell from Fu Xi's eyes in an instant.

"Fight, my War God."

The woman said, "I am with you at all times."

Fu Xi bit down on his teeth as light radiated from his body.

The red patterns on his body began to fade away.

Buddha Beads exclaimed in astonishment, "Fu Xi, have you gone mad?"

"I'm not mad!"

Fu Xi declared, he had to drive away the Buddha Beads.

Unlike what he had imagined, the woman's strength and gentleness surpassed his utmost expectations.

Being the Heavenly Emperor, she loved him and all creatures.

That love was pure and everlasting.

The world's purest woman, with her own will, told him—she wished her subjects to be free.

"I am the War God!"

Fu Xi stated, "The Heavenly Emperor has commanded, and I must obey."

Regardless of what the future holds, even if he might lose her once again, as long as it was her command, he was willing to comply.

Because loyalty was his greatest form of love.

"Disperse!"

The figure of Sun Wukong wielding his staff charged forward.

Jingu Bang struck down fiercely.

With a booming sound, the sky burst into endless light, obscure and invisible to all, filled only with endless Immortal Light scattering across the sky.

"Your Majesty."

Fu Xi's body shattered amidst the Immortal Light, "I genuinely love you."

"I know."

The woman smiled faintly, then embraced him, "Me too…"

The endless light enveloped the two of them.

A blood-colored ring flew out from Fu Xi.

That was the soul of Buddha Beads.

Between Sun Wukong and the ring, a brilliant light burst forth, with the might of the Jingu Bang poised to shatter the Buddha Beads.

"I will not fail, it's impossible to fail!"

The ring gradually fragmented and shattered, yet it still roared in rage.

It started to crack open, showing fine fissures.

A sphere of light appeared above the ring, rapidly absorbing all of Sun Wukong's Immortal Power and emitted a glow!

Amidst the towering light, an egg was born.

The egg emitted Divine Radiance, its presence vast and immense, dispelling the overcast clouds covering the sky.

Seeing that egg, the ring trembled involuntarily, as if facing an ancient true deity.

"What is this thing?"

The aura of that egg was terrifying, causing Buddha Beads to shudder.

Though unaware of what was happening.

But Sun Wukong would not miss the opportunity.

Within the towering light, he bellowed, and the Jingu Bang tore through the last defenses of the ring!

"Ah…"

A fierce cry was heard.

"Sun Wukong!"

Buddha Beads yelled, "You will definitely regret this!"

Sun Wukong remained silent, forcefully shattering the ring.

The ring broke apart, and intense light tore through the sky, a vast beam of light illuminating all Reincarnations.

People on the ground looked up.

Fragments of the ring were quickly consumed by the egg.

The pure white egg absorbed the power of the ring, emitting Holy Light, shining like a radiant sun.

The shining light cut through the sky, erupting a Divine Radiance into Chaos.

The Divine Radiance floated in Chaos, resembling a Divine Crown shining in darkness.

Among Chaos, some creatures saw this light.

"Master, what is that?"

On the desolate land, a child asked the old man.

The old man, watching Chaos, couldn't help but shed tears.

"That is light transformed, the collective will of all beings— that egg has found its master."

In Chaos, some cried like him, while others began to laugh.

After waiting for aeons, hope appeared.

That was the light of salvation.

That was the light that changed everything.

The vast world had been waiting for this light for far too long.
