The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 154: West Liang Woman Country

Sun Wukong was reading a letter.

Since her last handwritten letter, Ao Luan seemed to have taken a liking to writing letters, bringing her letters with every batch of demons that came.

In her letters, she talked about serious matters, mainly about the situation at Huaguo Mountain, but she also made some peculiar remarks.

"Why ask what I've eaten?"

Sun Wukong wondered to himself, could it be that Ao Luan also had a research interest in gourmet food?

Nevertheless, he replied to the letter.

In addition to that, Ao Luan asked about another matter in her letter.

She wanted to hand over the affairs of Huaguo Mountain to someone else as soon as possible and come to Wanling City, but she was indecisive about a few potential successors.

Sun Wukong offered her advice.

After passing the letter to a calm and peaceful state of mind, Sun Wukong began to ponder.

"The musical notes should be improved sooner."

He was somewhat dissatisfied with the current musical notes; although they could transmit sound, they couldn't specify recipients in detail.

If they could specify recipients, musical notes could be used just like a radio and telephone.

After replying to the letter, Sun Wukong looked down at Wanling City.

Everything was on the right track, and Wanling City was rising from the ground at a visible speed.

Streets were being built, and shops as well as restaurants were opening one after another—all within just two months.

The immortals, led by the Great Emperor Zhen Wu, watched the growth of Wanling City with their own eyes and recently felt a sense of accomplishment.

Creating a city was not difficult; however, building Wanling City this quickly without relying on immortal laws felt like a dream to the immortals.

Two months was just a few hours in the Heavenly Palace of the past.

They finally understood why the Jade Emperor cared so much about Sun Wukong. Such construction speed was astonishing even to eyewitnesses, let alone to those in heaven.

More and more demons from Huaguo Mountain were relocating to Wanling City, and its population had already exceeded one hundred thousand.

"It's about time."

Sun Wukong thought to himself and then summoned all the immortals.

The immortals had almost completed their practice, and he wanted them to speed up identifying their interests.

"That's what you're going to research in the future."

Sun Wukong said, "I will arrange enough talents for you; later on, you need to develop and lead the most advanced technology of Wanling Country."

This was the first time he had explicitly told the immortals what they needed to do.

Many immortals had already sensed this, but there were still some who did not understand why this was necessary.

"Great Saint," Water Virtues Star Monarch asked, "why do we have to develop technology?"

"I want to integrate technology with immortal laws."

Sun Wukong replied, "Only by doing this can we reenact the Heavenly Dao."

The immortals were all taken aback.

Sun Wukong was embarking on a bold experiment.

Unexpectedly, the immortals felt a slight resonance with Sun Wukong; during the construction of Wanling City, they had developed a feeling of unfamiliarity with the Heavenly Dao.

What are the so-called immortal techniques and the so-called Heavenly Dao, really?

The things they had taken for granted in their hearts had begun to raise doubts.

"Great benevolence."

The immortals agreed to Sun Wukong.

The next day, Immortal Zhenyuan was the first to determine the technology he wanted to develop.

"I am quite interested in the Spiritual Network."

He said to Sun Wukong.

While constructing the Spiritual Network for Wanling City, Immortal Zhenyuan discovered some things he hadn't noticed before.

"The Spiritual Network is very important for reenacting the Heavenly Dao, right?"

Immortal Zhenyuan asked.

Sun Wukong smiled, "Nothing can be hidden from the Immortal."

"Since that's the case." He stood up, "Immortal, accompany me on a trip to West Liang Woman Country."

After Wanling Country delineated its national borders, the Western Liang Woman Country had sent people numerous times. Sun Wukong had encircled their territory with a line, causing them to be at a loss.

"Wanling City has entered the right track, and it is time to alleviate the concerns of the Western Liang Woman Country."

Sun Wukong flew in the air and said, "Immortal Master Erlang has established a Water Mansion in the Tongtian River, and once our passageways to the outside world are opened, the Female Country will be right in the middle."

Immortal Zhenyuan nodded.

This matter was indeed a trouble for the Female Country.

He was curious as to what method Sun Wukong would use to protect the Western Liang Woman Country and minimize the impact from outsiders.

The two arrived at the Western Liang Woman Country, which had already received advance notice, yet they did not conduct a large-scale welcome.

Because interference with human political affairs was not allowed, Sun Wukong kept as low a profile as possible.

He and Immortal Zhenyuan flew into the Royal Palace's great hall, where the full court of civil and military officials was already waiting.

Upon seeing the two arrive, the King immediately led the civil and military officials to kneel.

"Great Saint."

"There's no need for such formalities."

Sun Wukong signaled for them to rise and said, "I'm aware of your concerns; the Immortal by my side will resolve your troubles."

His words made Immortal Zhenyuan stunned briefly before he suddenly understood.

Spiritual Network!

The method Sun Wukong thought of was the Spiritual Network.

He hoped to establish a Spiritual Network around Daughter Country, which was more like a Barrier, capable of preventing anyone from sneaking in.

"Is that possible?"

The King of Daughter Country was both shocked and delighted.

"No problem," Sun Wukong nodded: "I will have Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad create a National Seal, which can command the local land and Mountain God to cooperate; Your Majesty will have the permission to enter and exit the Barrier."

This Spiritual Network he wanted to build would hold some of the powers of Heavenly Venerates.

"This is quite novel."

Immortal Zhenyuan thought to himself, his wise junior brother has indeed learned to utilize the powers of Heavenly Venerate so quickly.

His mind was truly brilliant.

Upon hearing Sun Wukong's introduction, the King of Daughter Country naturally agreed: "If the Barrier becomes a reality, I will rest easy."

This was all benefit and no harm.

"However…" the King furrowed her brow and asked, "Our country lacks the talents to maintain the Spiritual Network."

"I've already considered this."

Sun Wukong nodded, "You may send people to Wanling to learn; aside from ordinary technologies, we will also teach some Daoist Skills."

He said, "I have over a dozen Fairies from the Moon Palace, and in a few days, they will come here to take disciples."

He had mentioned this in his letter to Ao Luan, and he had also received the agreement of the Chang'e's.

The Chang'e's were free and studying their crafts in Wanling Country; Sun Wukong did not have many demands on them, mainly just to teach Daoist Skill to the Western Liang Woman Country, which they were happy to accept.

"This is indeed excellent!"

The King no longer had any doubts.

Sun Wukong had thought of all the details, and she was completely joyful.

"If that's the case, then I shall take my leave now."

Sun Wukong intended to leave.

"Great Saint, wait."

Daughter Country called out to him and asked, "I wish to establish Great Saint Statues in Daoist Temples across our lands; may I do so?"

Before Sun Wukong could reply, Immortal Zhenyuan immediately responded.

"Of course!"

As Sun Wukong was the Heavenly Venerate ruling the Western Continent, it was reasonable for all local Daoist Temples to look up to him as their main authority.

Sun Wukong thought for a moment but did not refuse.

Both of them then took their leave, and not long afterward, Immortal Zhenyuan arrived with a group of demons to establish the Spiritual Network for them.

After a few more days, the Fairy Chang'e's indeed came to take disciples.
