Two weeks passed before Aaron realised it.
He returned home two weeks ago and, in the past two weeks, has done nothing but enjoy life to the fullest. While his parents went on a feeding frenzy, he indulged them for the two weeks.
He understood that they went through hell when they heard the news about his disappearance, and that was not for a day or two. No, it was for weeks before he was able to leave the ruins and call them successfully.
So, in his mind, they earned it. They earned the right to do whatever they want to do.
Of course, that didn't mean he remained idle for two long weeks. He used the merits he earned to buy some rare books, which contained knowledge not readily available to everyone.
Even in the Academy's library, he didn't see these names.
Sure, there is an entire section called the Forbidden Section, which was open to only the professors and higher authorities of the Academy, who might have these books, but he can't get his hands on them at the moment.
Also, he has plans to establish a family. Not a normal family, but one with a lot of awakeners in their line.
So, buying these books using the merits is not considered a loss. Instead, it can be viewed as an investment for the future.
Powerful families have access to higher knowledge that is typically kept out of the hands of commoners.
Although almost everyone was awakened, the term "commoner" slowly came to refer to those whose ranks remained at lower levels or had professions that were weak, preventing them from properly protecting themselves, like Aaron's family.
His parents' class was for cooking food, and they remained at a low rank. So, they are basically Commoners. This was something that Aaron wanted to eradicate. He wanted his family to become a powerful one that would inspire respect or fear when its name was mentioned.
To do that, having a lot of awakeners is not enough. The family needs to have access to a wide range of resources and knowledge that is not typically available to the general public.
He is not a magician in Earth's terms, as he does not bring items out of nowhere. He has to earn them, one at a time, and he was doing just that.
At the moment, there was no way he could preserve resources that he could use himself or for his parents ' Wealth. Hoarding Wealth while being weak is a sin. It would be like inviting the greedy ones to come and rob them.
To accumulate Wealth, sufficient strength was required. Wealth without strength is just a Death Notice.
To strengthen himself, he needed to constantly engage in battles, where death might be a possibility. If he can't know, where he can mostly dictate what he fights and control the chances of death, in future, where the situations are where he has no control over the fight, the chances of death would be much higher.
So, he can no longer sit at home, even though that may worry his parents. The longer he stays back, the higher the chances of something bad happening.
His parents knew that well, too.
It was just the missing and the possible dead scenario, broke a part of them, and they couldn't let him go out to face the dangers. They knew that troubles could knock on their door, even if they didn't go look out for them.
Some people naively believe that violence begets violence, but sometimes, doing nothing could also beget violence.
Sure, violence is not always the best solution. It should be the last solution for a problem, but one should always be open to choosing it if other methods don't work.
Thomas and Maya are not naive people, but the scare that they felt recently made them a little timid. So, Aaron had no choice but to sit them down and speak with them one night.
---
"Mom, Dad, I know that you are afraid of what could happen to me if I leave and enter those dangerous dungeons or the wilds. Even I am afraid to enter such places, but there is no other choice for me".
"You do remember a piece of news before I went on this exploration, right? The cults attempted to attack numerous cities, including ours. If their plans were not ruined, then a lot of people in the city might have died, similar to a few cities where the cultists went through their plans without any issue".
"We were lucky last time, but that won't always be the case. One day, we may have to fight a battle like the ones the people of those small cities went through at that time".
"When that happens, if we are not strong, we will die. No question about that. So, we can't just sit back and wait for such a thing to happen".
"I know what happened during the exploration, but that was a once-in-a-lifetime accident. No one could have anticipated something like that. You should know how cautious I was by now. Do you think that I would stupidly dive into a situation that could cost my life?" Aaron asked his parents.
They thought for a while and remembered everything that Aaron shared wth them in the past week.
To alleviate their fears, he showed them his status. They almost had a heart attack when they saw the status. Their son was already Rank 5, higher than they were.
Also, his attributes were ridiculous. They have never seen nor heard of anyone having such a ridiculous number of attributes. They finally understood why he sent them those attribute potions instead of consuming them himself.
He has the best thing: his talent, which has given him a lot of EXP, FSPs, and SPs, bringing his strength to a ridiculous level.
Thomas and Maya both exhaled as they sighed, "We know that you are cautious son, but as parents we always worry, no matter how strong you were or how strong you can get, but as you said, you need to have strength to survive for a long time in this world, and we want you to have a long life and a big family".
"So, projecting our fears and stunting your growth was not the right thing. You can return to the Academy to level up in the dungeons", they finally gave their permission to Aaron.
Aaron smiled and hugged them, "I promise, I will try my best not to put you through such situations again".
Thomas and Maya hugged back and spoke, "That's all we ask".
---
"It has been too long since I was able to spend time with the girls, and now, that may be possible, at least with one of them, if not all of them", Aaron muttered to himself, thinking of what he wanted to do once he returned to the Academy.
As he planned, he had multiple girlfriends, but having them would mean nothing if there were no proper interactions between them for a long time, especially this early in the relationships.
Except for Zara, others began to spend time outside the Academy once the battle between the Alliance and the Cults started openly. So, when he returns, he plans to change that.
