The shadowy figure pursued, intent on killing. The moment gravity vanished from the debris pile, it swung its blade like lightning through the barrier of dirt.
WHOOSH—
As gravity faded, the entire pile of dirt, pressured by the fierce aura of its strike, scattered in all directions before the blade even made contact. This left Chen Gu's back fully exposed to the figure's blade.
Chen Gu shot out his last table knife with a backward flick of his hand and, as he too lost gravity, began to float upwards.
The shadowy figure anticipated Chen Gu's table knife. With a slight contraction of its body, it dodged the strike. Its tactical sidearm remained aimed straight at Chen Gu.
Just as it was about to cleave the weightlessly floating Chen Gu in two, its body suddenly jerked violently. Then, it deflated like a punctured ball.
Her neck had been pierced by a table knife. From the wound alone, it was impossible to tell if it had entered from the front or the back!
The Gorilla and Man Suling were both at a distance, and it was too dark to see clearly.
With a THUD, she collapsed to the ground. As the Gravity Shaman's powers faded, Chen Gu fell. He spread his hand and pointed at his opponent from afar. "Radiation Scouring" was activated at full force, rapidly inflicting damage and causing varying degrees of burns across her body—only when Chen Gu was certain his opponent had no strength left to resist did he deactivate his ability.
He immediately checked on the Gorilla. A shot to the belly had left a gory sight, his innards exposed, and he was struggling to inject himself with a life-saving medication.
Chen Gu wasn't worried. The Gorilla was rich and feared death, so he definitely had many tricks up his sleeve for survival.
The medication's effect was remarkably swift. It acted quickly upon entering his body, and the wound promptly began to close. The Gorilla sucked in a sharp breath with a HISS. "That was really close this time..."
Man Suling limped over, a look of defeat on her face, clearly dissatisfied with her performance in the battle.
She gritted her teeth, fiercely declaring, "I'm going to interrogate that one!"
She dragged over the gravely wounded Gravity Shaman, who had no strength left to resist. Only then did they discover their enemy was a woman.
Her face was covered in various totems. Her build was so robust she hardly seemed female, especially her well-developed latissimus dorsi muscles, which resembled a large butterfly.
Man Suling snapped the woman's shin with a stomp. "Where's the stuff?"
Chen Gu walked towards the darkness from where the Gravity Shaman had emerged. Indeed, in a hidden spot, he found the box she had concealed.
He checked it carefully, verifying that the six combination locks on the box were secure, then picked it up and walked out.
Upon seeing the box, Man Suling unhesitatingly executed the Shaman Wizard. All three knew this was an inevitable end; no one played the saint.
"We need to retreat immediately." The Gorilla's wounds had improved significantly. Chen Gu, carrying the box, headed toward an exit from the underground world, following the map.
The Shaman Wizard was incredibly cunning. She had used an ambush and the stench of corpses to greatly weaken the Mountain Werewolf's superior sense of smell, and she was masterful with her own abilities.
Unfortunately for her, she hadn't realized Chen Gu was an even more cunning foe. Besides being a Radiation Missionary, he also concealed his abilities as a Quantum Wizard. She should have targeted Chen Gu from the start. Regrettably, she instead went after the Gorilla, who was merely flaunting his showy but less potent Second Energy Level powers.
...
Juglans stood over a pile of corpses, a long, deep wound under his left arm gushing blood profusely, drenching half his body red.
This was a parting blow from the Mad Demon King. Had Juglans been a fraction slower, he would be the one lying there, not the Mad Demon King.
But Juglans was the victor. The Mad King lay three meters ahead, a vivid wound on his forehead, crimson blood mixed with white brain matter oozing out.
The intense pain from the wound made Juglans's lips twitch. He slowly sat down to tend to it and injected himself with a healing drug. Afterward, he rose and went to the Mad King's body. Patting it down, he extracted a coin-sized bone badge from an inside pocket of the king's upper garment.
The badge was carved with the image of a strange giant beast, its head supporting a sphere of light.
The 'Roar of Mokosaro.' So, you did have it. Heh.
Still good for three uses, meaning three more lives. Looks like I should be able to survive this mission. Gascolin's assignments aren't easy.
That old blind fool is an idiot. I was supposed to kill two kings to get everything I wanted. Now I only need to take down one. What a gain!
He pocketed the bone badge, 'The Roar of Mokosaro,' discerned his direction, and set off in pursuit.
...
"Wait!" Man Suling suddenly stopped, her nose twitching as she sniffed the air. "I smell something familiar..."
After sniffing again to be sure, she looked at Chen Gu. "It's your teammates."
Ahead was a fork in the road, shrouded in darkness. Electricity was scarce in the underground world, leaving most areas like this.
No sooner had Man Suling finished speaking than Chen Gu heard a series of rapid footsteps, followed quickly by a clamor of various noises approaching swiftly.
From one of the side passages, several flashlight beams stabbed through the darkness. Marcus and his two companions came hurtling out. Without stopping to get their bearings, they hurriedly fled into another tunnel.
Behind them, a horde of thugs from the underground world was in hot pursuit.
Leading the thugs was one riding an ancient motorcycle, ROARING through the crossroads. Melincha, holding a doll in front of her, fired back several times, accurately hitting the motorcycle. The bike crashed into a side wall with a WHINE.
The three took the opportunity to escape even further.
Behind them, bands of armed thugs chased after them in droves, taking quite some time to pass completely. By the time they had gradually moved away, Chen Gu estimated there were at least five hundred of them!
He couldn't help but worry about his team leader and the others. The Gorilla patted his shoulder. "This box is what's most important."
Chen Gu nodded, and the three of them emerged from their hiding place and continued their journey.
Along the way, relying on Man Suling's sense of smell and Chen Gu's 'Mind Belief' ability, they avoided one conflict after another, finally arriving near an exit.
The Gorilla sensed something was off. "These armed thugs are mobilizing too frequently. It's not normal. Could something we don't know about be happening in the underground world?"
Of course, neither Chen Gu nor Man Suling could answer him. The Gorilla shook his head and looked ahead. "Just a few hundred more meters, and we'll be out."
"Where is this exit?" Chen Gu asked.
The Gorilla laughed. "This exit is quite interesting. It's situated on a wasteland between 'Gods' Poison' and the Tai Ping Ring.
Legend has it that when Empire River Star was first developed, that area was a sports field, without any specific planning or buildings. After a day's work, laborers would spontaneously gather, form two teams, and start playing. Later, as the city's construction expanded and the number of workers grew, it actually evolved into a six-team amateur league."
