Full-Time Public Enemy

Chapter 181: Gravity Shaman

Man Suling tracked ahead with a touch of hesitation. She felt that the image of herself stretching her neck and sniffing around was somewhat unsightly and didn't want Prince to see her like that.

She was completely unaware that, in the era Chen Gu came from, a beast-eared girl who could also wag her tail was fatally attractive!

Chen Gu couldn't help but glance over at her. This was even more effective than her "superstar" status in capturing his attention.

The gorilla sulked beside them, repeatedly telling himself to prioritize the bigger picture. After this, he resolved, he would never allow this bad influence near his precious girl again.

The trio walked into a dimly lit area. The terrain here was extremely complex, piled high with various excavated waste. The ground oozed with fluids of unknown composition, emitting an unbearable stench.

The gorilla's expression changed. "It's the smell of rotting corpses!"

As they walked through mounds of waste, a cluster of hanged corpses suddenly appeared before them.

The corpses were bizarrely shaped. In the dim light, even the three Professionals couldn't see them clearly. It seemed the bodies had small wings on their backs. They had been dead for an unknown amount of time and emitted a nauseating stench.

The gorilla, looking at the shape of the corpses, speculated, "Are they Xenos, or humans mutated by genetic drugs?"

Genetic drugs were explicitly banned by the major Star Nations; even the military conducted its secret experiments with extreme caution. However, in the underground world, these substances were in high demand.

The blind man they had encountered earlier could hide his presence as perfectly as a venomous snake lurking in the grass, precisely because he had used some sort of genetic drug.

As they approached cautiously, poor Man Suling was so overwhelmed by the pungent odor that she sneezed repeatedly.

These corpses were hung on a long crossbar. A special symbol was carved at both ends, which the gorilla recognized. "It's the insignia of the Mad Demon King. These are the criminals he executed. That's why those cannibals don't dare to touch these bodies."

Chen Gu observed the corpses. Man Suling, despite being a Demon Mountain Werewolf, was still a girl at heart, and her eyes showed her revulsion at the sight.

The corpses' backs had been cut open. Their ribs were bent outward and broken, exposing the lungs within their chests.

From a distance, the corpses looked as if they had small wings. Those were their ribs.

Even in decay, expressions of terror and agony were visible on their faces.

Chen Gu shook his head. Such brutal punishment was indeed characteristic of the underground world.

Suddenly, the hanging corpses came to life! As if they truly had wings, they began to fly. The trio was astonished. Man Suling, remembering some frightening legends, let out a piercing scream.

Then Man Suling found that, like the corpses, she too had begun to float!

"A Professional!" Chen Gu shouted. He had already seen a shadow in the darkness charging toward them at a speed unattainable by normal creatures.

In its hand, the shadow held a sharp tactical short sword in a reverse grip. The straight blade was deep black and non-reflective, but its edge was as bright as a silver line.

Its other hand flashed with a silver-blue light—a rare weapon known as a "Palm Cannon." Powered by energy, it possessed formidable destructive power and an equally exorbitant price.

The shadow's target was clear: it was heading straight for the gorilla.

Among the three, the gorilla was at the Second Energy Level. The shadow didn't know the gorilla's Profession. It aimed to ambush and eliminate the strongest one first; a sound tactic, as some Professions, like Resonance Council Celebrity, are not suited for solo combat.

The gorilla generated massive vibrations, the void around him rippling with waves. After all, he was a former reserve Prophet with extensive experience in escaping.

The shadow burst into the vibrating area at high speed. It slowed considerably yet still moved toward its target at a pace far exceeding the gorilla's attempts to flee.

Man Suling's eyes instantly turned red. She roared and fully transformed into a Demon Mountain Werewolf. But she was floating in mid-air; when she powerfully thrust her hind legs, she only spun in place, unable to advance even half a meter to support her Gorilla-dad.

Chen Gu reached out and grabbed a nearby corpse. The slick, sticky sensation on his palm almost made him vomit.

But it gave him a point of leverage. He pulled hard, and the reaction force pushed him toward the shadow. Chen Gu threw a dinner knife while activating his Nuclear Combat Technique, reaching for the shadow's ankle.

The gorilla shouted, "It's a Gravity Shaman! Such a rare Profession! He must be from the Five Peaks Society—he's our target!"

The corpses "flying" up just now, and the trio's sudden levitation, were all because the Gravity Shaman had nullified gravity, plunging the area into a state of weightlessness.

And the Gravity Shaman's speed was greatly enhanced in such an environment.

The shadow swung its tactical short sword backward. The sharp blade could have easily deflected Chen Gu's dinner knife.

But the dinner knife suddenly slowed. The shadow's strike unexpectedly missed, and the knife hurtled toward its cheek. It could only twist its body to dodge. Chen Gu had already caught up and was about to grab its ankle and crush it!

But Chen Gu suddenly felt heavy as the vanished gravity returned. THUD! He crashed down, his fingertips merely brushing the target's ankle, failing at the last moment.

It wasn't just Chen Gu who fell; the gorilla and Man Suling crashed down too.

Because of this, the gorilla fell out of his protective vibration field. The shadow, however, was prepared and landed easily. It then lifted its left hand, activated the Palm Cannon's energy, and BANG! Fired a shot at the gorilla.

The gorilla was about to respond when he suddenly felt himself floating again.

This completely disrupted his movements. He could only watch helplessly as the Palm Cannon's energy projectile blasted toward him. The gorilla cursed in frustration as he was blown dozens of meters away, crashing heavily into a pile of rubble.

Man Suling howled and rushed forward. Her run was smooth until she got behind the shadow. Then, all gravity suddenly disappeared. She floated in the air, flailing as she helplessly slid forward. The shadow merely raised its elbow, the sharp edge of its tactical short sword positioned so Man Suling collided with it as if she had thrown herself onto the blade.

At the critical moment, another of Chen Gu's dinner knives shot over.

He had several dinner knives in his pocket.

The shadow snorted coldly, dodged the flying knife, and landed a heavy roundhouse kick on Man Suling's ribs. The sound of breaking bones echoed, and with a scream, she was sent flying.

The shadow efficiently dealt with two opponents and turned fiercely toward Chen Gu.

Seeing the dire situation, Chen Gu turned and ran, using the surrounding piles of rubble to evade the shadow.

The shadow, furious, pushed out with its hand. The pile of rubble Chen Gu was using for cover lost its gravity and began to float erratically.

Chen Gu cried out, swiftly throwing several more dinner knives before ducking behind another pile of rubble.
