I Am The Only Witch Hunter

Chapter 202: The Circus

The hunter stepped his foot on the premise of the circus. He tilted his head slightly and took in the sight of what used to be his entire world. Snow's entire world.

Now, the only thing that was there was simply disdain and memory.

Commoners darted out of the circus like ants. They avoided him and scattered to either side. Their gazes stuck on the ground, not even dare to look at him. They're afraid that even a simply gaze could drag them into the nightmare that they weren't even connected to.

Behind Siderius, Ashe led Red by his reins.

Behind her, Kraus and his men followed.

They whispered lowly but Ashe could still hear what they're saying.

"Is that... our boss?"

"He looks fierce..."

"His white hair. What happened to him?"

Kraus looked back at his men and shushed them. "If you value your life, shut your damn mouth."

They closed their jaws and sneakily looked after Siderius. Luckily, he wasn't looking back at them.

Some people recognized Siderius. His hair was a different color but his face was still the same.

A child pointed at him. "Mommy, looks! It is that handsome boy of the circus."

Her mother pulled her away. The women's face lost all of her color.

"We need to go. Don't point your finger at him!"

A few commoners turned their back to look at Siderius when they were far enough. They observed his gray grizzly bear fur-cloak. They all knew whose animal that cloak belonged to. Not many hunters dared to face such a dangerous beast.

A few craftsmen admired the armor beneath the cloak. They could only catch glimpse of it. But they knew, at first sight, that it was a masterpiece.

Until now, then nobles and merchants inside the circus were still oblivious. They saw the commoners running away in panic. They were curious about the reason behind it but they were too lazy to stand up and find out why.

The performers still focused on their act. They ended the play and bowed down to say goodbye to their audience. Then it was the dancers turned. They flooded the stage in their colorful outfits and began to dance for the entertainment of the crowd.

A man rushed to the stage and pulled one of the dancers away.

"What're you doing, Gerald?!"

"We need to go now!"

"What're you talking about? I need to perform."

A bodyguard of the circus rushed over. "Hey! Get out of here or I will make you!"

The commoner man punched the bodyguard so hard, it knocked the man out cold.

"We need to go now! This circus will soon be no more!"

The dancer finally understood the gravity of the situation. Her lover might be a crude man but he wasn't unreasonable. She took her hand and ran away.

The remaining dancers looked after them with questions in their mind. It was finally at this moment that the audience of nobles and merchants realized what was wrong with the atmosphere.

Thane rushed to his tent. He collected all his valuables and stuffed as much as possible into chests. He didn't call any men to help him. He couldn't trust anyone any more.

Back in the circus. Siderius stepped foot into the main tent.

Everyone looked at him. The audience looked at him. The performers looked at him.

There were people that he knew. And there were people that he had never seen.

They all witnessed a long white hair warrior stepped in from outside. He stood under the moonlight of the entrance with his bright golden eyes.

"You... Snow?"

"Is that the pretty boy?

"He isn't dead?"

"The murderer of his own mother?!"

The dancers recognized him right away. After all, he grew up amongst them.

Siderius scanned the crowd and spotted his target. His tall body rushed forward and jumped into the crowd of dancers. The woman scattered away everywhere he went.

Gemma stepped back a few steps. Her lips trembled. "Why are..."

Siderius' cold large hand grabbed her throat and squeezed.

Gemma struggled at place. Her fingers dug into Siderius' arm and tried to push him away. All attempts were futile. He stood in place like a statue.

"Germort told me you arranged for my mother's assassination. Is that true?"

Siderius' low, harsh tone echoed.

Gemma gasped for air. Siderius was holding so tight that she couldn't say anything.

He released her throat slightly. She coughed relentlessly.

"Better start talking."

"What are you talking about, Snow? I don't know what you're saying?" Gemma's eyes welled with tears.

"One last chance before I kill you."

"Wait! WAIT! I'll talk. I didn't do anything, Snow. Thane simply told me to arrange a girl there to witness the crime. I didn't do anything at all! I swear on my life!"

Siderius squinted his eyes. "You are her sister, her ally, and her friend. And when someone tried to harm her. All you do is nothing?"

"I..."

Gemma trembled like a reed in the wind.

"Pathetic old woman."

Siderius released Gemma and let her fall to the ground. She thought he had forgiven her.

"Thank you, Snow. Thank you!"

Siderius chuckled without answering her. He turned to Kraus.

"Strip her. Bind her to a wooden pole in the middle of Mucktown. Burn her alive."

Kraus grinned ear to ear. "It shall be done, my lord."

Siderius had promised Snow to rain down FIRE and PAIN to his enemies. And so he shall fulfil it.

In an empty part of the Beaumort circus. Thane dragged his fat body to a cart and loaded up the chests into the cart. He kept looking around in panic, making sure no one was around. His heart went out of control and beat like a drum.

"No one is here. No one is here. I need to hurry. Come on, you damn chest! Why are you so heavy?"

He heaved and heaved. Finally, he was able to carry all the chests into the cart. Thane climbed up to the perch in front of the cart and whipped the horse.

There was no driver as Thane couldn't trust anyone right now. Wind started blowing past him and he reached the end of the circus.

Thane wiped the sweat off his forehead.

"Phew! Whatever is happening is no longer my concern. I can escape! I always escape! No one can kill me!"

Suddenly, a rope jumped up from the ground and stayed stretched. The horse tripped over the thick rope and flipped over.

The entire cart slid on the ground and Thane was flung forward.

He rolled a few times in the dirt, blackening his high quality silk clothes. He ended up in a pool of mud and horseshit.

Thane scrambled up onto his feet. He lifted his head up to see a group of men surrounding him.

Geolark, Billy, and a few men of his group were there.

"The lord was right. He is trying to escape on his own."

Geolark smiled widely, tapping a wooden club into his palm in an aggressive manner.
