Byung was getting along with Rodell and knew he had to ask questions because this could be his only chance to do so.
"I know why you're here, Byung," Rodell pointed out, forcing Byung to choose his next words carefully.
"Do you?" Byung questioned, not wanting to give anything away, and Rodell smiled at him.
"Yes, you have come for the goblin in our care," Rodell said, and Byung knew there was no denying it.
However, if he admitted it, there was no doubt he would try to use it as a bargaining chip.
But this was Murkfang. Byung had no idea if he was still alive.
"That is correct," Maui spoke for him as she noticed Byung was lost in his thoughts.
"I have bad news. He is no longer in our care," Rodell informed the pair.
"What do you mean he is no longer in your care?" Maui asked with a raised eyebrow.
"He escaped," Rodell said straight out. He wasn't afraid to admit it, even though it was all a trick.
"But he is alive, isn't he?" Maui questioned, and Rodell shrugged casually.
"Who knows?" But his eyes focused on Byung when he said this.
"He is testing me," Byung thought to himself, but Maui was yet to tell him what she knew, so he couldn't play his hand too strongly.
"The orcs—tell me about their plan," Rodell questioned. Byung noticed they were walking along a quiet road, but this didn't mean there weren't a few guards around. However, they stayed just out of sight.
"Kragg plans to take over the mines and have the goblins work for him instead," Maui revealed, and it was hard to read Rodell or what was going through his mind because his facial expression never changed.
"Is that so?" Rodell responded, but his tone sounded sarcastic, like what did it have to do with them?
"Yes, and he plans to deal with the dwarves," Maui lied through her teeth, but she was one of the people who had knowledge of other races, including the humans' deep hatred toward the dwarves.
Byung looked at her, confused, because he felt this was information she should have told him beforehand.
He shouldn't be finding out now, even though he knew she was lying, but the way Rodell reacted to hearing about the dwarves proved she had hit a nerve.
"The dwarves?" Rodell questioned, and Byung could tell right away the mask had slipped, even if it was just for a second.
"And they have promised to help in the war he wishes to wage against your kind, but I can stop it," Maui offered.
"Why would you want to help me?" Rodell questioned, since she had no reason to. If anything, she should be helping the orcs.
"I'm not helping you. I'm helping myself. They tried to kill me," Maui responded right away.
"…Besides, wouldn't you want someone to lead the orcs that aligns with your interests?" Maui questioned, but Rodell squinted like he was deep in thought for a second.
"You don't have to worry about that. Can you kill Kragg?" Rodell questioned, but before Maui could respond, Byung cut in.
"What do you mean we shouldn't worry about that? Do you already have an orc to take his place?" Byung questioned, and Rodell just stared at him for a second.
He was surprised Byung caught on. This was unusual, but it was something he expected.
"Impressive…" Rodell was quick to praise Byung because it had slipped past even Maui, but this was partly because Maui was lying.
She didn't care about the outcome of the conversation, but Byung knew this could only mean one thing.
Byung knew letting him know he caught on might be dangerous and had to think of something quickly to throw Rodell off because Rodell's response to his question gave him his answer.
"Oh wait! Of course, you were referring to Maui!" Byung said with an exaggerated face palm.
He laughed after saying this and hoped this was enough to fool Rodell.
"Hahaha! Of course that is what I meant," Rodell responded right away, but the look in his eyes made it hard once again to tell if he was being honest or not.
Byung listened carefully and knew he had to bargain for Murkfang, but this man said he had escaped.
Byung finally used his nose. He had to make a real effort to find Murkfang.
It wasn't automatic, or he would take in a lot of unwanted smells along the way.
Byung's eyes immediately locked onto a spot. The scent was strong.
"He is alive!" Byung thought to himself, but he had gotten valuable information: the humans did have a spy within the ranks of the orcs.
And judging by the stories Maui had told him so far, there was only one orc that fit this description.
It was Borg.

Back at the goblins' territory, the meeting among the goblins was done.
Vrognut was ready to help Drekk with his little problem and saw the weapons they had.
He was surprised that this region managed to produce a goblin this useful.
"Tell me, who created all of this?" Vrognut questioned with interest.
"It was a goblin known as Byung," Drekk responded.
"A very troublesome goblin," Drekk added.
Byung was the only goblin who had stood against him for as long as he could remember.
He didn't especially like him, but he couldn't deny he was something special.
"Where is this Byung? Is he also the one who tamed these orcs?" Vrognut questioned.
Drekk could tell he was disappointed that he allowed another goblin who held no power to have this much influence over the minds of the others.
Drekk should have reminded him who was in charge and kept his influence small.
Of course, Drekk dared not say he lost in a fight he started, or he risked losing the kindness his brother showed toward him.
Vrognut felt no emotional bond. The only thing keeping Drekk alive was his usefulness.
He helped with the goblins' image and gave some orcs the twisted idea that they were indeed simple-minded creatures.
And they also did their job quite well, but now they had managed to produce something unheard of since the birth of the Goblin King.
"I'm afraid I do not know his whereabouts," Drekk revealed, causing Vrognut to stop in his tracks.
"You don't know?" Vrognut questioned with a raised eyebrow because, from the look of things, this was the most valuable goblin in this poor region.
How would Drekk lose track of a goblin so important, and the fact he didn't answer his other question was an answer in itself.
"He must have snuck out when no one was paying attention," Drekk informed Vrognut, but all the goblin did was chuckle.
He couldn't believe the words coming out of his mouth, but it was clear Drekk had lost control of this place to this goblin.
Fear was the main thing every creature felt. It didn't matter what or who they were.
And fear brought order, but it was becoming clear this was too much for Drekk to handle.
"It looks like you might not live to see this war, Drekk," Vrognut informed him, but he knew even though Drekk was a disappointment,
he was needed if they were going to break through the ranks of the orcs. But would he throw away his life for him?
This was one of the basic rules the goblins under him followed, and each was incredibly strong in their own way.
But they were still no match for the orcs, even though it required a lot fewer of them to overpower one. But if they fought a group of goblins, winning was almost impossible for anyone.
"The orcs must have realized I'm alive, which means whatever reason for this war no longer matters. This is their chance to kill me," Vrognut said.
"I killed so many of them. I would think they got the message by now, but I guess I have to take more lives," Vrognut muttered under his breath.
"It looks like having you here might have put us at a disadvantage," Drekk informed him.
Vrognut looked over his shoulder and stared him right in the eyes.
"You did, because now it is going to be a genocide," Vrognut said with a disgusting grin that sent shivers down Drekk's spine.
"Very well then," Drekk responded, but he didn't know if it was fear or excitement he was feeling right now.
But there was no doubt things were about to get interesting as the war drew closer with the orcs.
The goblins were growing in confidence, and with confidence came strength because it wasn't just Drekk looking forward to this fight.
But the rest of the goblins, too, because they now understood what they were to gain: as many women as they wanted.
They could have their way with them the same way Vrognut nearly did with Naruz in front of everyone.
