Reborn as the Failed Lord with my Resource Gathering System.

Chapter 163: The Witch god of Evernight.

'Fuck! Why can't I move my body?!'

Dorian panicked.

Every time he tried to activate a magic spell, it would immediately get canceled by something.

The same applied to both his dragon and god aura.

At the other side, he could see Yahoshi already sinking deeper into the hole, her eyes slowly fixed on him with a smile on her face.

'Dammit, Yahoshi! You haven't changed one bit!'

At this point, his entire body had sunk into the shadow, leaving only a tiny part of his head, ready to be swallowed as well. Dorian didn't care.

If this was going to give him a one-on-one session with Yahoshi for him to ask some questions, then he was more than willing to do so.

She wouldn't kill him.

He knew that more than anyone else.

However, just when he thought he was going to be fully sucked in, a hand sunk into the shadow portal as well and grabbed Dorian by the shoulder.

"NooO!!!" Yahoshi screamed as loud as she could, rage instantly etched on her face.

From where she was, she could see Seraphina already pulling Dorian out, while the white dragon, Celes, pulled on her clothes as support.

"Darling~! Hold on tight!" Seraphina could feel the dark energy digging roughly into her skin as she pulled, but she knew if she were to let go of him right there, Dorian would be gone, and Maria wouldn't let her hear the end of it.

Hell, even in that moment, she could sense Maria panicking and running all the way towards them as the entire scenario was playing out.

As Dorian noticed the dark energy, he quickly yelled,

"Oi! Let go, it's fine! I'll be-"

"I'm sorry! That's the one order I can't follow, my love!" Seraphina tried to force a smile, even though the pain was getting unbearable; the dark energy was already covering her entire arm and reaching for her neck.

"Damn it, Seraphina! I am not joking!"

"Let go of him!" Yahoshi suddenly yelled from the side, her fingers digging into the ground as she tried to crawl her way back out.

Dorian gritted his teeth at the thought, his eyes widened because he could already sense the danger coming with that. Yahoshi was pissed.

It was obvious.

"Let go of him! He is not yours! You damn fake! Let him go!" She had crawled out all the way to her stomach.

Dorian found himself glancing back and forth, trying to figure out what exactly he could do in that moment.

It didn't seem like Seraphina gave a fuck either; her entire focus was on pulling Dorian away from the shadows.

Any other thing was nothing but a distraction.

Yahoshi grinned angrily, making a loud shout as she tried to pull her leg out.

"Don't touch him! G—"

Suddenly, Revina charged forward, drawing her blade, Faja, and slashed it to the side, generating a large amount of mana that she soon slashed directly at Yahoshi.

Yahoshi tried to protect herself using her shadows, but the white light completely tore through it, slicing her on the neck in an instant.

Before Yahoshi knew it, she was sinking back into the hole, her fingers clinging to the ground to pull herself back.

"Give him back to me! He is not yours!" She fought desperately.

Despite the dark mana leaking from the opening in her chest, she still tried to push herself forward with all her might.

Then, from nowhere, Maria showed up at the side, sending a straight kick at Seraphina's arm.

The impact, aimed to break her contact with the corrupting portal, sent Seraphina tumbling backward, but her grip on Dorian held.

The force of the kick, combined with her pull, yanked Dorian free from the shadows just as the portal snapped shut, swallowing only itself.

Fortunately, Seraphina had succeeded in pulling Dorian from the hole, and he was now lying, his chest on Seraphina's lap.

For some reason, the moment he was pulled out, he lost all consciousness, as every bit of mana he had got stripped into the hole, like his skin was being torn off.

As he lay on Seraphina's lap, she laughed a bit, a laugh born from the relief she felt that she was able to pull him out.

Celes, as well, didn't waste any time, cuddling beside her unconscious master.

Once the relief had faded, Seraphina turned her gaze to her arm and noticed the dark energy was already eating away at her skin.

"Oh." She began seeing blurs, unable to fully see her hand anymore.

"Seraphina?!" Seraphina looked to the side and saw Maria approaching her.

"Is Lord Dorian alright?"

"L-Lord Dorian? R—"

Bam!

She collapsed right on top of Dorian, the last thing she saw was Maria immediately racing towards her.

Gasp!

Dorian woke up, finding himself lying at the center of a wide field, where all he could see were tall grasses and ancient trees covering everywhere.

The bright sun rained down on him, giving the green around him the vibrant color it needed to look beautiful from every angle.

'Fuck. Don't tell me I fell unconscious.' He sat upright. The first thing he did was search his body to make sure he was not dead or anything.

He could still remember the feeling of every single energy in his body getting sucked into the dark portal.

'I am alive. That much is true. The question now is, where the hell am I this time?' Dorian stood up, the question hinting in his mind.

Then came the system notification…

[You are currently in the domain of a god.]

Dorian didn't seem impressed. 'Just like last time, huh? I wonder which god wants to speak to me this time.'

His eyes suddenly picked up on a long table behind a tree not too far away.

Seated at the head of the table was a man, dressed in a simple white garment, with three blue flames rotating slowly around his head like a crown.

After spotting this, he used his system once more.

[The skill Analysis has been activated.]

[Name: Tezen.]

[Role: God of Eternity.]

'Figured as much.'

Without thinking much about it, Dorian headed towards the table, one step at a time.

Once he was close, he allowed himself to sit on the far chair, where he could get a direct look at the god.

It was then he noticed the God of Eternity seemed to be eating a red apple while looking directly at him. Each bite was precise and loud, as though trying to bait Dorian.

'The last time this happened, it was because the God of Gamble wanted me to pick him as my contractee. Could this god want the same thing?'

"If you're wondering what I want, it is probably not what you have in mind currently."

Dorian smiled warmly. Finally, Tezen had said something. "I wasn't thinking anything. I was merely wondering what the God of Eternity wants with someone as mundane as myself."

Tezen halted his bite and stared at Dorian for a long period of time.

"I guess the others weren't joking. You really are an anomaly." He gently placed the half-eaten apple on the table.

"As the God of Eternity, as long as these flames burn around me, my name cannot be spoken nor known by anyone, not even when I tell them about it. And yet—"

'Shit. I messed up.' Even though he was panicking inside, he still tried to maintain as big a smile as possible.

"Anyhow, I shouldn't be all too surprised. The other gods seem to be obsessed with you for some reason. I don't get it, which is why I brought you here." Tezen snapped his fingers, summoning a body that laid at the center of the table.

A body that Dorian instantly recognized. 'The God of Gamble?'

"Judging from the look on your face, then I'm certain you know who this is. Good, that makes my work even easier. For the first time since the Great War, a god has died. It was such a shock that it took us a long time to even discover it."

Dorian still kept his eyes on the body, trying to remember where and how the god had died.

He was certain he saw it play out before his eyes, and yet, he could not fully access that very memory.

"Are you trying to say I killed him? Surely you don't think a human like myself could kill a god."

"Oh, definitely not. We gods are quite unique; even if we die, we can always reincarnate. That said, there was one person who could kill a god and make them remain dead."

A serious look played on Tezen's face.

"The Witch of Evernight."

Dorian hardened his face.

He knew this would come up eventually, but to think it would involve the death of a god.

Tezen reached for the foot of the dead god and pinched a few motes of dark mana in his hand, hovering them upward to his face.

"That woman is known to have the mana of a destroyer, said to be the strongest type of mana, capable of nullifying anything it touches, be it magic or authorities. Truly a force to be reckoned with."

Dorian gulped his saliva as the God of Eternity continued.

"Are you familiar with the origin of the Witch God, Yahoshi Evernight?" asked the God of Eternity with a glint in his eyes.
