Apocalypse: Hero of Potato Fields

Chapter 239 Finally Appeared

On the battlefield.

The mutants have appeared!

Their numbers are immense!

They advance slowly and maniacally.

Emerging from the forest, once they crossed the edge of the woods, their hideous bodies were revealed.

North of Brussels, short-range missiles were immediately launched.

A series of explosions shook the battlefield.

The air was filled with the whistling and roaring of shells.

A fountain of flame, smoke, dirt, and blood, three people high, shot into the sky.

Everything was engulfed by this terrifying sea of fire.

When the smoke finally cleared, the thousand-square-meter forest was left with scorched earth and craters.

But even this did not stop the zombies.

They became even angrier!

Roaring furiously, they ran even faster than before.

They stumbled over chunks of flesh beneath them, got up, and ferociously charged towards the humans.

The human soldiers would not let the zombies get closer.

After the missile strikes, two helicopter formations launched air-to-ground missiles, trying to eliminate those heavily armored Level 3 mutants.

But from the air, it was much harder.

These zombies wouldn't stand still like statues for the missiles to hit.

They ran around the battlefield, picking up stones and logs to throw at the helicopters, occasionally making a hit.

The mutants greatly outnumbered the helicopters, and they took advantage of this, sometimes focusing attacks on one or two helicopters nearby.

Soon, four helicopters were shot down, but the rest retreated only after exhausting all their missiles, destroying nearly 30% of the giant armored monsters and the minions around them.

The evolved zombies, strong and agile, didn't care about taking a hit, ignoring attacks to the abdomen or back, and completely disregarding lost limbs.

The only way to stop them was to pierce their skulls or shoot them in the head.

The Irish Mountain Monster Squad confronted the first wave of enemies head-on.

Their name was well-earned!

Nearly two thousand Professionals appeared as beastly warrior beastmen.

Under the cover of bullets, shells, and flames, they slammed into the wave of evolved enemies.

A true bloodbath began!

A giant wolf leaped onto the walking dead.

Its terrifying claws slashed through the zombies' flesh and bones as easily as a hot knife through butter.

It could bite off the heads and limbs of enemies with almost no effort, but…

A few agile mutants hidden among the ordinary zombies evaded the wolf's attack, then with a swipe, plunged their long sharp claws into the wolf's abdomen.

Tearing through its flesh, organs, and viscera.

The werewolf hadn't realized what happened as its body contorted, letting out a dreadful, deafening howl, splattering blood across the battlefield.

But these terrible wounds did not bring him down; instead, they stirred his fighting spirit as he bit and pounced on the zombie enemies more ferociously.

Yet, he was surrounded by zombies on all sides, the walking dead overpowering him with numbers, not strength, pushing him down with their blood-soaked fodder bodies.

Desperately, the werewolf tried to break free, but while pinned down, other zombies bit into his fallen body, feasting on fresh wolf meat.

The wounded, fallen wolf twitched and howled, struggling to free itself, but it was all in vain.

About a minute later, the wolf's body morphed back into human form… then slowly stood up, bewilderedly looking around, shaking off its body.

It was no longer a wolf but a zombie clad in system armor.

Shapeshifters with skill levels below 2 couldn't withstand such a massive horde of corpses…

They were used to fighting Level 1 zombies, feeling like the masters of the battlefield.

But now they were disemboweled...

That's just the simple truth!

But soldiers from other countries had to admire the Irish because the massacre was mutual.

A giant bear, like a frenzied tornado, charged into the zombie horde with threatening roars, tossing the zombies' mangled bodies around.

In an instant, he took down three agile mutants, then knocked a strong zombie to the ground, neatly ripping off its head.

The zombie horde did not remain unmoved by this slaughter, and soon a few mutants appeared.

The bear warrior bit, trampled, and scattered the enemies, but there were just too many, seemingly pouring in from all directions simultaneously.

The zombies surrounded him from front, back, left, and right, some even climbing onto his back.

The bear warrior angrily roared, shaking his head, standing on his hind legs, tearing apart the enemies in front, but faced with such a massive horde, he was powerless.

His thick fur and flesh finally being ripped open, the first drop of bear blood spilled.

But that bear warrior was not destined to die on that day, at least not at that moment.

Other comrades arrived for support, and he could no longer fight, so he had to choose to retreat.

"I knew it would come to this... Hubert, hold the wall, everyone else get ready! If we don't help the other areas, the entire defense line will be finished..."

"Yes, Sir! Leave it to me here... but you can summon the Mages, they have rested well."

"No problem, let's go!"

Lin Yi summoned his "Dagger" motorcycle.

After teleporting archer Xiaochuan, fire mage Piero, and wind mage Joe back to the shelter.

He immediately rushed toward the direction of the Irish, now they had already lost about a third of their warriors.

As they got closer, Lin Yi summoned two mages and managed to get them onto the hovering "Dagger" motorcycle, then drove towards the battlefield.

He gave the orders.

The most powerful fire mage created a massive fire wall, separating the Irish, as well as some of the main zombie groups.

At this moment, the wind mage Joe took action.

The strong wind spread the fire wall very wide, covering more than twenty meters, scorching the evolved zombies and mutants below level 3.

The mutants suffered significant damage and tried to break through; the fire wall was just too long.

After all, this was the masterpiece of two mages wearing top-tier equipment, after exhausting their magic power.

Xiaochuan joined the battle.

Explosive arrows triggered a massive explosion, shaking out a breakthrough among a large group of evolved zombies.

"Retreat to the city wall immediately! Hurry!"

Lin Yi commanded sternly, using the motorcycle's twin laser cannons to take out the injured mutants.

Upon hearing this, the Irish soldiers immediately retreated.

Lin Yi hurriedly returned the way he came, leaving the master of archery, Xiaochuan, to support Area Two.

Fortunately, nothing happened in his zone of protection as he left.

The beastmen threw burning agents onto the battlefield, wiping out any foolish zombies attempting to climb the city walls.

Da Chuan transformed into dragon form, proving extremely efficient in eliminating armored zombies.

He could even easily eliminate agile zombies because they couldn't dodge the flames he spewed out...

"Melanie! Have you found that general?" Lin Yi realized the situation was quickly becoming more dire.

Melanie's voice was somewhat anxious: "No, boss... we're still looking. In the forest, there are at least a hundred thousand level 1 zombies..."

"...They won't hold out much longer..."

The battle continued.

Lin Yi's prediction was accurate.

Although the helicopters reloaded and attacked again, the bombers launched another bombing, and the U.S. Navy fired another round of missiles...

But their defensive line was quickly starting to crumble!

Soon after, the evacuation signal sounded.

The enemy had already broken through the British soldiers' defensive line, with no chance left to stop this surging enemy.

Their defense quickly turned into urban street warfare.

The army retreated while deploying tanks and heavy vehicles.

The evolved zombies encountered tractors, steamrollers, and other heavy construction vehicles, but these vehicles had little effect on them.

The zombies directly climbed onto the vehicles and killed the drivers.

Despite the driver's cabin being reinforced with metal plates and railings, the zombies effortlessly grabbed the drivers inside.

Such defensive measures were only somewhat effective against ordinary zombies, but they wouldn't hold for long...

The tanks were quite effective against level-3 strong zombies and typical zombies, but there weren't enough of them, and the claws of level-3 mutants could cut through steel...

Even if they couldn't penetrate a tank's armor, they could tear apart the treads, immobilizing the tank.

The army wanted to keep firing, using artillery to attack the rampaging enemies in the city, but it was entirely ineffective.

Meanwhile, after withdrawing a certain distance, the Shelter Army chose to continue defending.

The engineers quickly installed mobile walls and anti-tank hedgehogs between the city walls and the city.

In contrast, after chasing the retreating units for a time, that zombie general realized the best approach was to attack the last remaining army still fighting.

Therefore, all the zombies surged madly toward the area guarded by the Shelter.

Hubert gritted his teeth and cursed: "Those Americans, as soon as the evacuation order was issued, they vanished without a trace."

"What else did you expect?"

Lin Yi chuckled, observing the battlefield.

The mages were already exhausted, and the horses were basically out of ammunition.

So he had to summon the Sun Soldiers to join the battle.

His requirements for these Sun Soldiers were not high, just to use long spears to stab any enemies attempting to climb the city walls, and to throw ceramic jars at them.

Lin Yi was waiting for an opportunity.

All other national armies in different areas had withdrawn, he deliberately stayed to lure the enemy deeper.

He was waiting for that zombie general.

Sure enough, it was less than ten minutes.

Melanie's voice excitedly shouted in the headset.

"We found him, boss! We've finally found that zombie general!"

"Where?!"

"I've drawn a map on the notebook computer desk and marked the position."

Lin Yi took the map, delivered from the Shelter, looked at it twice, and let out an evil laugh.

"Everyone, go home to rest for fifteen minutes, then come back to continue fighting!"

He spoke, sending everyone—truly every soldier—back to the Shelter,

Then, he rode the "Dagger" motorcycle, jumped directly off the city wall, flying over the seemingly endless enemy troops' heads.

Through the forest, Lin Yi picked up the energy cannon and began pre-charging it.

Now, every second counted because if not released in time, the material generated during the energy cannon's charging process would explode inside the cannon...
