The battlefield.
Thousands of streams of acid poured down from the walls, turning the moat into an acid lake.
Along two sections of the wall and a part of the third section, the twenty-meter-long moat was filled with bubbling acid mixed with melted flesh.
Lin Yi stood at the highest point.
He surveyed his soldiers, the walls, and the battlefield.
"Are you ready for the final battle?"
"Boss! Always ready!"
All the soldiers shouted in unison.
It's as if they received an order, an endless swarm of zombies rushed out from the forest, densely packed together.
They charged straight ahead, without glancing around, indifferent to the situation before them.
They trampled the grass, snapped branches, bent small trees, and continued their frenzied advance.
Their numbers were so great that they seemed to have no gaps between them.
Any bullet, no matter how poorly aimed, was sure to hit the target.
Only ten minutes had passed.
The battlefield was littered with corpses, most of which had been blasted to pieces.
These bodies were twisted and deformed by the crushing impact, with broken bones piercing the skin, and internal organs spilling onto the ground, forming a gruesome heap, making it difficult to find even a single complete corpse.
A space of two hundred meters from the wall to the forest was covered in a thick layer of blood and flesh, dotted with craters filled with twisted limbs.
Those zombies still alive but with missing limbs staggered or crawled forward, reaching out their arms, eagerly wanting a taste of delicious human flesh.
But they were destined to die.
Once the last drop of blood drained from their bodies, they would die completely...
The corpses in the moat had all been cleared away, but needless to say, no one bothered with the severed limbs, chunks of flesh, and bone fragments.
Because of this, the moat was still nearly overflowing with the remnants that were once countless monster corpses.
This was a hellish scene, a terrifying reminder of the recent zombie massacre.
Lin Yi led two thousand people on the walls of the third zone, looking at the approaching enemies as lambs to the slaughter.
He was more than willing to take the lives, experience points, coins, and rewards from the zombie enemies.
Then turn their broken bodies into a slime called biomass, and use this biomass to make fuel—
to eliminate more zombies...
Though the battle was difficult and long, the soldiers were able to occasionally rest at the recovery center,
constantly drinking spring water and providing emergency care to their comrades when necessary.
The Beastmen were true death machines, the only warriors who did not rest.
They were exhilarated by everything happening around them; this battle was far more bloody and brutal than any fight praised in their most fantastic legends.
They knew that compared to this battle, all previous wars their race had experienced were child's play, igniting an insatiable bloodlust deep within their hearts.
Even the initially bored Americans started getting involved.
They were eager to fire their guns at the enemy, contributing their own effort to this horror scene.
Lin Yi chuckled lightly, satisfied with the scene before him.
"Are we ready?"
"Boss, we're ready!"
Hubert was very pleased with the soldiers' performance.
Of course, there were more or less some minor problems, mostly caused by those who had only served for a few days or months.
But all in all, everyone did well.
"How many zombies have we killed?"
"About 400,000 to 500,000."
"Then how many rewards have we collected?"
"A little over 1,700, with about half blown to the surroundings of our battlefield."
"Not bad. That means the operation has broken even, and everyone has gained a lot of experience points. Looks like they are coming, look!"
Lin Yi pointed to the distance in the forest.
"Hubert, tell those Americans to help us eliminate these minions. I don't want my Mages wasting their Magic Value on them."
"Understood!" The veteran laughed as he pulled out the walkie-talkie.
A moment later.
Since the battle of Brussels started, tanks, artillery, and grenade launchers awaited by the third zone for long.
Finally opened fire!
The enemies were so densely packed that any shell hitting the corpse crowd exploded in a pink mist.
The forest and air instantly turned red.
Then, that deep red smoke dispersed, leaving a clearing in that endless, sticky mess of flesh and severed limbs.
The Americans, having never had a chance to attack, had ample ammunition and were now firing relentlessly.
After a while, when the main force of zombies reached halfway across the battlefield, six bombers flew overhead, dropping thermite grenades on the corpse crowd.
Instantly, over half of the battlefield area and part of the forest were engulfed in flames.
An impassable, rolling hellfire wall rose before the attackers, killing thousands of zombies in one go.
But these monsters did not stop, even coated in sticky flames, they continued running forward until the flames finally burned their brains.
"They are a bit too hasty..."
Lin Yi gazed into the sea of fire and commented.
Hubert nodded in agreement.
The Zombie General sent the burning zombies to several different areas, forming blazing piles of corpses, clearing the battlefield.
Of course, many zombies died in the process, but this halted the spread of the flames.
The fire quickly extinguished, and the zombies continued their assault, bypassing the burning piles.
Level 2 evolved zombies and level 1 mutants emerged from the forest... in overwhelming numbers!
"Listen up, everyone! Real experience points are here, first come, first served!"
The true battle finally began.
Everything that had happened before was merely a prelude...
A very long prelude.
The newly appearing enemies were faster, stronger, tougher, and smarter.
And there were more of them... far more than in the first few hours of the battle.
The artillery increased their firepower, but now the effectiveness was greatly reduced, as the zombies were incredibly fast.
No giant, robust zombies could be seen on the battlefield; all enemies were nimble.
Then, what Lin Yi feared the most, happened.
The zombie horde easily breached the British defenses!
The Zombie General realized this was a human weakness.
So he sent more mutants and evolved zombies there.
To the British people's horror, besides facing Level 2 mutants, there were also some Level 3 mutants...
They were stronger, faster, tougher, and ordinary flamethrowers were no threat to them.
Despite the British concentrating their firepower, this wave of zombies crashed into the walls, easily creating a living staircase, allowing the zombies behind to climb over the walls.
Everything happened so fast, many defenders could not believe their eyes.
Just a minute ago, they were carefreely eliminating those walking corpses...
"Activate the bait!"
After hearing Melanie's report, Lin Yi thought for a moment, then gave the command.
Soon, countless zombies paused for a moment, then frantically rushed towards the center of the third area defense line.
But the mutants continued their fierce assault.
Under the command of the Zombie General, all Level 3 evolved zombies overcame the bait's influence and continued slaughtering the British.
Even without the help of their Level 2 comrades, they still faced significant difficulties.
The reserve troops and rapid response teams quickly deployed, but the casualties were horrific.
In just a few minutes, the British army lost three hundred soldiers and professionals, and dozens more were bitten and turned into zombies.
Very few of them were wearing vaccine bracelets capable of resisting the Level 3 virus...
The situation on the Irish side was somewhat easier because the zombies there also ran to the third area.
The Irish and Americans were merely slaughtering those mutants attacking them and any other enemies they could hit.
Lin Yi watched the approaching zombies and waved his hand.
"Get ready... Go!"
Five meters from the earth wall, a fire wall rose from the ground.
Then came the second, third, and so on.
Thus, it continued until the entire third area was covered by a massive fire wall.
As before, the zombies feared the flames and stopped, but then...
"Blow the wind!"
At Lin Yi's command, the Wind Mages released a gust of wind, once again casting the "Flaming Tsunami" skill first used on the Moving Island.
At a distance of forty meters, the fire wall spread outward, covering tens of thousands of Level 2 zombies and Level 1 mutants.
Many mages collapsed, their Magic Power completely or nearly exhausted.
Lin Yi knew this would happen, so he waited to send them back to the recovery center.
"Alas, this guy isn't even a Zombie Lord, he's just an ordinary General."
Lin Yi spat, this Zombie General was far inferior to the Zombie Lord on the Moving Island.
He was disappointed not to catch a big fish.
Hubert echoed his boss's sentiment.
"A Zombie Lord would be able to regain control of his subordinates. But this guy couldn't even manage such a large army. He couldn't even make his Level 1 zombies form a living staircase."
"However... now that his army is smaller, he should be able to control them better."
Lin Yi laughed.
"Alright, let's see if he has any other tricks."
Ten minutes later, word came that the first area's situation was stable, and the bait could be turned off.
Lin Yi had no problem with that; he didn't want to do two jobs for the price of one.
The enemies kept appearing, more and more.
The soldiers had to switch from crossbows to assault rifles, and even used hand grenades and burning agents.
"Boss! Level 2 and Level 3 mutants are coming!"
"Hubert, you heard that too, what's your take?"
"We need to quickly inform the other Generals..."
Though Hubert was smiling, he was actually starting to feel nervous.
The final battle's opening was not going well.
The British almost broke through, the only impressive thing Ireland had was that mountain creature squad, the Americans were too cautious, only supporting with high-intensity weapons, but currently the Ammunition...
The defenses of others might collapse...
