The vehicle stopped at the foot of the large hill and the three of them walked upwards.
The group was right where they had left them.
"Thank you," Max said to the driver as soon as they stepped out.
Reith noticed that the man was quite silent, but he was more distracted by what he had learnt when fighting Pax.
"Hey everyone. Pack up, it's time to go," Max said to the group, and they all rose to their feet.
They had been waiting for hours, so a few of them were quite glad. But someone stepped out of the crowd.
"What about our payment?" The person who had spoken was named Ray, the man who had a pregnant wife.
He had remained on the low during the first fight because he did not want to die yet. After seeing the corpse of the adventurer who had died, he concluded that he made a good choice.
Max nodded. "It will be distributed at the Alliance Spire in Azure Region. Bet you are looking forward to that, so we have to walk faster," he said, hoping to rile them up with the promise of money.
The plan worked and the men rose to their feet.
The forest was a lot quieter as they were heading back, and it actually made the group a bit suspicious. But after walking a while, they realised that nothing was truly coming.
Cassia took a short glance at Reith. It was not hard to tell that those beasts were not coming because they were afraid of the person who was pulling those heavy moves.
It made her wonder what those beasts would think if the person behind it was someone with a stature they could smash.
"What's funny?" Max turned to her.
"Nothing. Would you get the plants? There are a lot of good ones here," she said, and even pulled closer to him. "That one is very rare in the Azure Region and you can get a lot of money with it." She pointed to a stalk of a weird-looking flower.
The flower was slightly twisted and there was a golden tint on the corners of the flowers.
"You sure?" Max raised a brow at her. From his own point of view, that flower looked very old.
"Yes I am. I was trained as an assassin. Of course, I know those things," Cassia mildly scolded him.
Max nodded, but just as he was about to pick it, someone else moved and went to cut off the flower.
"Oh? Max, are you looking for something?" Reith raised his head.
He had previously seen quite an abnormal number of Hana lines surrounding this plant, and that was instantly why he went to cut it off.
Max was a bit shocked, but he quickly composed himself. "Not at all. I just thought I saw something." He chuckled, remembering the large burst of blue light he had seen the previous night.
Then he walked back to Cassia.
"If only you had gotten it faster," Cassia hissed lightly. That plant would have sold for much in the market, and even more if she took it to the inter-regional trade center. But there was nothing she could do, especially if that young boy had taken it.
The group kept up with their journey.
Due to the fact that most of the monsters had seen the clash, the group was barely disturbed, and it was a quick arrival back at the Azure Region Central City.
They all moved to the Alliance Spire with Max leading the group.
"Please wait here, everyone. I will speak to the receptionist and you all will receive your fair share of the mission," Max said. Deep down he was very glad that it all went according to his plan.
Now he would get promoted to an S-class adventurer and he would be able to register his own build under the Alliance Spire.
Reith walked around with a sense of fulfillment.
This was his first mission and safe to say, he had completed it well.
There were a lot of missions on the mission panel that were flashing with so many different lights.
The mission he had just finished was ranked B-rank, and he had read the adventurer's manual.
"I wonder what benefit I would get if my rank levels up." He smiled, looking at the panel that appeared in front of his face as he worked on his pulse ID.
Within the next few minutes, a sound that resembled the jingling of coins echoed in his head.
[200 GOLD COINS RECEIVED.]
[B-RANK MISSION COMPLETE +500EXP]
[Congratulations, you are now a C-rank Adventurer. The Alliance expects a lot from you.]
[Access to C-rank Missions and lower-ranked Missions granted.]
Reith went through the notifications that appeared in front of him.
"This is actually pretty good. Very efficient too," he muttered, and raised his head.
He had learnt a lot from the journey he had just returned from. "Would it be enough for me to pass the Final Selection?" He sighed, thinking about the rich students who had privileges he could not even dream of having.
"Does not matter anyway. I would put my all in it." Reith clenched his fist and said.
Seeing that he was no longer called by Max, he moved outside the building and headed back to his hostel room.
His plan was to work on learning his fire element technique, and maybe he would be able to do more than just light up a tongue of fire.
Reith walked inside his room and sat cross-legged on the floor.
He immediately activated the elemental dimension.
This was where he would practice moving with staff and practicing the fire element.
Ruach materialized in front of him. "Are you ready?"
Reith looked up, his gaze was steeled, and he nodded his head. Raising his staff, he moved to make his first move.
Whatever the Final Selection brought tomorrow, he would handle it with the same fierceness. Money did not matter as long as he had his God by his side.
The plan was to win.
And he would not only win, he would absolutely dominate the arena.
