SSS GRADE TALENT: Master of the Heavenly Path

Chapter 55: THE CORE INITIATE BECOMES THE PREDATOR!

"Where is that old fart?" A voice roared as the man stepped into the store.

"Let him come out now and face me." The man who had smashed the door of the store open let out a yell. He was huffing and puffing, and his eyes darted everywhere.

Until they finally landed on Reith.

"You. You are working in this place right? I want you to get your boss out here right now. Or I'd kill you and break this store down." The man was utterly furious.

Reith wondered what could even make him that way. From the well-polished armor that the man wore, it was obvious he was well to do.

"I'm sorry but you are mistaken. I'm not working here."

Hearing Reith's statement, the man felt like he was being defied. He instantly dropped a long staff-looking bag wrapped with rags on the working table.

"Listen to me, brat. I said take me to your boss or you'd regret it. I don't even care if you aren't working here. Someone has to pay for what had just happened to me. If you are the one, then it'd teach you a lesson not to come to the store of such a fraud." The man sneered.

He was very frustrated. After buying a brand new tailored weapon from Howard, he had expected and wanted a taste of the power. The weapon had been specially created to match his body-building cultivation technique.

However, the strangest thing happened on the battlefield between some high-tier beasts.

The moment he tried to wield the weapon, a backlash tore through him. His energy drained in an instant.

His teammates scattered like cowards, abandoning him, even after he had paid them a huge amount to follow him.

Although he was a cultivator, it did not mean that money was easy to come by.

Every coin had been blood-earned. So he ultimately blamed Howard for his loss, and that blame burned like fire in his chest.

Without waiting for Reith's reply, it seemed like the man had run mad. He moved to the weapons that were lying around, and he started breaking them.

Reith shot to his feet. "Please calm down. Mr. Howard would be here soon. You do not have to take things this way," he said, wondering why Howard could not hear the noise that was going on. Maybe if he tried to pacify this guy, they would all be able to sort things amicably.

But then a bright light flashed in front of him.

In the next second, he flew backward, dark blood flying from his lips as he crashed through the wall of the next room.

"Your annoying audacity would only get you killed," the man snarled. "How dare Howard try to defraud me, Kalion? Is he asking for a death sentence?"

Howard, who had found the staff weapon and was coming to show Reith, suddenly felt a trembling, and the roof of his building was almost about to come down.

"What is happening outside there? I hope it is not those thugs again." Howard heaved an annoying sigh.

As he stepped forward, the wall cracked open, and a body burst through it, skidding across the floor in a cloud of dust.

"Boy!" Howard recognized Reith's battered form as soon as the dust cleared.

What was happening? He widened his eyes and looked forward.

"Howard. What did you do to my sword?" The man bellowed.

"Kalion? Is that you?" Howard squinted his eyes and walked forward. The state of his store appeared in front of his eyes, and he was suddenly angry.

"The law would condemn you, Kalion, especially for what you just did." Howard glared.

Kalion ignored him. He stepped forward, bloodlust radiating from his body like a wave.

"Law? You sold me something fake! If the law is going to do anything, it is going to let me take you and that kid to the grave." Kalion sniggered.

Howard frowned, not understanding what Kalion was saying. His weapon was faulty? That was impossible. In all his eleven years of creating weapons, there was never a complaint like this.

"Cut your trash, Howard. You are paying me every single dime of what I paid for that sword, and also the amount of money I lost when my team deserted me."

Howard frowned. "Isn't that being too forward? At least let me check the weapon and—"

Kalion did not wait. He waved his hand, hana energy crackling around him, amplifying his strength.

This was the technique of a body building warrior.

"Muscle Amplifier!"

Kalion's intent was clear. He would cripple Howard, then bleed him dry. Fear would spread his name even further.

But before his strike could land, a dark blue rod of lightning shot forward. It crackled across the ruined walls, gathering energy as it lashed out.

In a blink, it smashed straight into Kalion's chest.

The blast shook the store.

Kalion's body twisted inward as blood gushed from his mouth. His scream was cut short.

He flew through the air, slammed against the far wall, his eyes rolling white.

The man had fainted.

Howard was shocked at what had just happened, and he turned back, looking in the direction the lightning had come from.

Reith stumbled forward, his hand holding the door. Blood was flowing from his head and his vision was slightly dizzy. After showing his spell to Kane, he had found it a lot easier to cast it.

He did not want to move at all, but this man asked for it.

"Are you alright? Please sit down and I will get a wet towel," Howard quickly said as he helped Reith take a seat. He rushed to get everything prepared, although he was shocked at what had transpired.

When Kalion had come to the store for the first time, he had bragged about almost reaching the Spirit Root realm.

The man had asked for a weapon to finish a mission and then return quickly to cultivate.

Which meant Kalion was a core adept.

An initiate stage cultivator facing a core adept was like a Bulldeer and a RiverLion.

The obvious winner would be the RiverLion with no difficulty.

It was the law of the food chain. The predator would never become the prey.

But what he had just seen, seemed to shake that law.

This strange initiate had become the predator.

Howard slowly wiped Reith's head, strangely wondering about what the guy was eating.

"It is fine please. What would you do about him?" Reith said, pointing forward.

Right in front of them, Kalion, who had been out cold, was starting to shake.

They had to find a way to hold him down. Because Reith knew that half of his hana reserve had been depleted with the first move he made.

He could fire off another, yes. But he would not walk away unscathed, and then Verity would have to see his face again.

A move like that was meant for a core adept with the vast hana quantity to endure it.

Meanwhile, in a quiet white room, Verity let out a sneeze.

She suddenly felt like someone was talking about her. She shuddered, having a feeling the topic was about something that would stress her more.

"You should get something to hold him down."

Back in the weapon's shop, Reith raised his head, staring at the fallen man.

He was already about to rise. It was simply proving how strong a core adept was. Even that powerful blast was not enough to take him down.

Howard nodded and rushed to get some ropes. After tying Kalion down, he focused his attention on Reith.

"I just need my weapon. I have a lot to do," Reith said, shaking his head. There was no time to waste in this shop.

There was no way Howard could hold down Kalion on his own.

"I would give you the staff for sixty percent off the price. I just need you to help me out. There is no way my weapon would have a fault. I need to know who is behind this." Howard looked at Reith with pleading eyes.

Reith sighed. Sixty percent off was a good deal.

After some minutes, they pulled Kalion up and placed him on a chair.

The man opened his eyes sharply when a sharp coldness permeated his body. He had been doused with water.

"How dare you!" Kalion immediately yelled, seeing that he was tied up.

His eyes darted from Howard to Reith and lingered more on Reith, wondering what he had done to let out such a big move.

"You're playing a dangerous game, kid," Kalion snapped.

But a sharp sentence from Howard made him focus.

"Listen to me, Kalion! I know you are angry, but this is not the first time I am making a weapon for you or your master," Howard said.

He moved forward and picked the wrapped-up sword from the table.

Removing the rags, he stared deeply at it.

Reith merely watched Howard do his thing, also trying to ignore the fact that Kalion was sending him death glares.

"What do you think?" Reith asked Howard, who turned back to face Kalion.

Howard squinted his gaze. He had arrived at a conclusion.

"After you got this sword, who did you give it to?"
