Reith wanted to go to his room, but then he realized he still had one more thing to do.
He took a turn at the corner of the hall and walked into the classroom.
Right there, sitting and writing in a book, was Master Lu.
From the expression on his face, the man's focus was entirely on his work.
He didn't even notice when Reith had moved to stand in front of him.
"Good day, Master Lu. I'm glad to see you are doing fine," Reith said with a wide smile.
Lu raised his head immediately and shot up from his seat.
Words weren't enough to express his current feelings.
He went around his desk and stood in front of Reith.
Surprisingly, the big man pulled Reith into a massive hug.
"I wouldn't have forgiven myself if you had died. I had brought you into your own death. I'm sorry, Kid," Lu said, and the hug became deeper.
Reith nodded his head. "Thank you, Master Lu. But I don't think I'm able to breathe right now," he said with a strained voice, tapping the arm of the man.
"Haha. I'm sorry, Kid. I was just so happy to see you," Lu revealed.
Seeing how his teacher was immensely happy, Reith didn't want to say what he had originally come to do.
However, it was only courtesy that he did it.
"I heard the news, Master. I am truly sorry for your loss," Reith bowed his head, his fingers digging into the fabric of his clothes.
Lu chuckled softly. "It's fine. It's not your fault, Kid," he said, but when he tilted his head, his voice took a dark tone. "The people truly responsible for this will regret the day they were born."
Reith nodded. He had the same feeling as Lu, but he didn't have the ability to achieve his goal.
Lu raised his gaze. "I'm okay, Kid. Is that all for now?" he asked, slightly gesturing at the pile of documents on his table.
Reith nodded, and then he took his leave.
The next destination was to sit down and take a look at the strange things that were happening.
Arriving at his room, Reith locked the door and sat cross-legged on the floor.
"Ruach, something's wrong. I have a technique recorded here, but it's not something I have learned," Reith hit the nail on the head.
"Crimson Flame?" Reith stared into the text.
"It's a result of what you could analyze from Peter's technique. Picking and monitoring the Hana flow during the technique's creation was what made it possible," Ruach explained.
"Isn't that stealing?" Reith raised his brow.
"What? We don't steal here. Crimson Flame is the original creation, and many other techniques were created from it, such as Flaming Bullet. The Book of the Heavenly Path follows the Hana lines further and gives you the purest version of the technique," Ruach explained calmly.
"So Crimson Flame is the original technique," Reith muttered, and Ruach hummed in response.
"How is the book able to do that? An original technique would have to be the first-ever technique created," Reith furrowed his brow.
"To even find that, that would mean going through the holes and mistakes of countless techniques."
The wheels in his mind were rolling as he thought of it.
Techniques were split into originals and then sub-techniques.
Ninety percent of the population had access only to the sub-techniques, and this showed how rare original techniques were.
"The Book is able to pick a single Hana line, following its history and connecting it back to the original," Ruach explained.
"With the original techniques, you'd be able to create your own sub-techniques, but that's only after you have mastered the technique."
Reith exhaled. He didn't know whether to be happy or sad.
Original techniques were so hard to come by. They were mostly owned by individuals at the top of the power chain, massive families and clans, etc.
And there was another thing. Mastering an original technique always took longer than normal techniques.
If a normal technique took a month to fully master, an original technique would take five times the amount of time.
"I don't think I'd be able to master it on time," Reith rested his head on his knees.
"What would happen if I faced stronger opponents and I still don't have a technique?" He raised his gaze to the ceiling.
"Complete mastery shouldn't take so long due to the nature of your path, and when you reach certain stages, you can even create your own techniques before achieving mastery," Ruach comforted, and then he materialized before Reith.
"You can do it, and I'll walk the path with you. You have my full support."
Reith raised his head, and a smile appeared on his face.
Yes, he could do it.
At least he still had advantages.
Then he reached into a bag by his side and brought out two other scrolls.
Arranging the three scrolls side by side, Reith took a sharp intake of breath.
One golden-tagged scroll and two silver-tagged scrolls.
It was time to get to work.
He now had four techniques, including an original one.
"Can these techniques be turned into original techniques?" he asked Ruach.
"You'd need to compound them and understand them. The last one was done because you were able to see it in action, and the book picked through the Hana line you analyzed," Ruach said.
"But if you are able to fully materialize these techniques, then it will work out. After learning these techniques, you'd need to spend extra time on the original techniques," he explained.
Reith felt his brain was going to explode with so much information in his head.
"This is actually a lot to do," he concluded.
Ruach nodded. "True. So break it down. What should be your first task?"
It was simple.
The first goal was to learn a technique.
And the reasonable technique to pick would be the golden one.
Reith opened the scroll and looked at the text on it.
The name of the technique was "The Lightning Whip Strike."
