"I should let it go?" Reith frowned in confusion. Mr. Gong had told them they needed to keep their hold on their lines so as to properly construct it.
Reith raised his brow. "Wouldn't that ruin all the hard work?"
"Look at the lines, Reith. Look at the way they move." Ruach's voice echoed in his ears.
Reith turned his focus and stared at the lines. For the first minute, nothing happened, but when he peered closer, his eyes widened.
"They have a rhythm."
"Yes. Your lines know what to do. Your only job is to channel energy until the work is complete," Ruach explained, and Reith instantly nodded.
He still couldn't help but wonder why Mr. Gong had taught something else.
"It's harder to lose control of the energy if you let the lines move by themselves. But once you take hold of the lines and bend them according to your will, it's a faster and much easier process," Ruach continued.
Reith nodded, then slowly released the lines.
The meridians raged within his subconscious, moving everywhere.
Veins bulged on Reith's head, and he could only endure it.
"Increase your breathing." Ruach's voice came again.
Reith nodded, even though everything Ruach was telling him was the exact opposite of what Mr. Gong had said and even what he had read.
He would ask him after this process.
The pacing of his breathing increased, the pain dropped immensely, and his emotions began to calm.
This was even a lot harder than merely breaking through.
Reith's eyes were still closed when Verity walked inside.
She closed the door and immediately sensed a change in the atmosphere.
Sensing what was going on, she gritted her teeth. This child had the audacity to cultivate in her personal chamber.
When she tried to touch him, she realized she couldn't.
It was like there was a force field surrounding the boy.
"I see… It must be crucial. But how did he build a Hana veil?" Verity muttered to herself.
Mere beginners should not be able to grasp the techniques of Hana in such a way,
especially when they were just at Core Realm level.
Reith was completely unaware of what was going on outside this space.
Despite the numbing pain, his mind was heavily focused on the creation of his meridian core.
Ruach was right. The meridian lines were moving by themselves so much that it was simply amazing.
He watched as each line calmed and connected together like a thick ball of thread.
It was ethereal.
Verity shielded her eyes from the massive glow that shone from the boy. "Amazing," she whispered.
Reith's core was finally formed, and he wanted to leave that state, but Ruach stopped him.
"Wait, it's not yet over."
"What do you mean?" Reith wanted to ask, but he wasn't quick enough. A sharp pain moved through his head, and the core began to spin.
It was like a crack appeared in his mind, and Reith was instantly transported to another place.
"Go in," Ruach said with a small smile.
It was a place covered with bright light. Reith paused for a while.
It was strange, and he was truly scared of walking into it.
This was the first time he had heard of such a place… He didn't even know what it was.
"Where's this place?"
Reith walked in, despite his throbbing heart. It was amazing.
"It's known as the Spirit Realm," Ruach answered, and that was when it all clicked.
"Oh!" Reith gasped. He had read about the Spirit Realm, but he couldn't remember any visual representation of it.
Meanwhile, outside his body, Verity squinted her eyes. "What's taking him so long? Did he hit a bottleneck?" she muttered, wondering how to break through his Hana veil.
Something told her not to test the waters. That Hana veil was a lot stronger than it looked.
Reith walked into the Spirit Realm. It looked like a collection of islands but with bare land.
No plants, no trees, no animals. Just empty ground.
"Why is it this way?" Reith was confused. There was a book he'd read on the Spirit Realm where the author described lush greens, strange spiritual animals, and otherworldly sights.
"You don't have a Spirit Root yet," Ruach replied.
Reith nodded. "True… But wait, why then do I have the Spirit Realm?" He awkwardly chuckled. It felt like his brain would explode.
When he first broke through, he'd instantly gone into the first stage of the Core Realm, the Initiate stage.
But unlike the normal, he didn't have a core.
Now, he had a Spirit Garden, which was supposed to be given at the Spirit Root Realm.
Suddenly a thought came to Reith, and he took out his path.
Sure enough, he was able to turn to the next page.
"Finally." He smiled.
The heading on the next page read, Spirit Root Realm.
But that was all.
"Don't you think this is illegal?" Reith was dumbfounded.
What would people think if they heard about him?
Before he could answer the thought, the Spirit Realm suddenly began to evaporate, breaking into countless pieces.
"Time is up," Ruach said, and Reith appeared back in his normal state of mind, though he didn't open his eyes.
He searched his body and realized the amount of energy he had was far greater than normal.
And this was just after forming a core.
"Took you long enough." A soft female voice floated into his ears. "I was starting to think you had died during a breakthrough, and it would be quite funny." Verity smirked as she stood in front of him.
Reith almost had a heart attack when he saw the beautiful woman standing in front of him, and a thought registered in his mind.
He bowed his head instantly. "Thank you, Ma'am, for saving my life. I don't have much currently, but I truly thank you."
Verity scoffed. "Is that why you thought it polite to use my Hana?" She slammed her palm on the bed, causing Reith's hair to stand on end.
