Chapter 605: The Fourth Trial [ 1 ]
After the four hours were nearly up, Rael finally came to some kind of conclusion.

He realized that if he went around the vision, then he could see fragments of what it could be.
Particularly, if he acted like he didn’t care and literally tried to view the fourth trial as some kind of air molecule, then it actually worked.
Albeit, it was blurry, very blurry.
But in the end, Rael could see three characteristics that stood out to him above everything else.
There was a throne.
There were two people dead.
Lastly, after the trial was over, this entire realm would be destroyed.
Since he was literally a molecule, he wasn’t able to play out his own scenarios, so he didn’t exactly know what led up to that outcome.
However, if he had to guess, whatever was about to happen was going to be totally out of his control.
So instead of going through with beating the trial and becoming the next Hollow King, Rael aimed for a different goal altogether.
He wanted to survive whatever was about to happen.
I have Vatyra’s feather, and Lucien also has it. Someone definitely dies, and afterwards, I have to escape before this realm is destroyed.
That also made him realize this wasn’t The Depths but some pocket dimension belonging to Kareth.
Speaking of Kareth, Rael also tried to view the future through his eyes, but it didn’t work. He couldn’t even check the past.
Nonetheless, Rael saw the countdown decrease with every passing moment, and he became slightly uneasy.
So, in case things were about to go awry, he decided to contact his wives.
<Rael Sutekh: How’s Law practice going for you two?>
It took nearly two minutes to get a reply from both of them.
<Zafira Sutekh: I’m at 13% for the Law of Time. I can turn back time now~>
<Lilith Sutekh: Tsk… I’m only at 9%. That little vixen is cheating somehow. I swear.>
Chuckling, Rael replied.
<Rael Sutekh: I’m about to enter the last trial. Pretty sure it might be a little dangerous. Also, any news from Evelyn or Kareth?>
<Lilith Sutekh: About that… Apparently, Evelyn and Kareth talked right before your succession trial began. Odd as it is, she told me they made some kind of oath, and she also mentioned that you’re about to be forced to make a hard decision.>
Lilith’s words contained the same prophecy he had heard several times now.
Kill or spare Lucien.
He had already made his mind up to kill him.
After all, by sparing him, Rael would likely gain a tie to the Divine Realm.
By killing him, he would put a wrench in Lucien’s plans.
Though deep down, Rael knew that killing him would likely be impossible, that was why he switched to self-preservation.
Still, he continued chatting with Zafira and Lilith, hearing about their progress and all that they’d done. Uriel seemed to also be holding up pretty well.
Honestly, Rael was starting to feel like running away.
But he wouldn’t.
He knew that it wouldn’t be that easy.
Through his procrastination and chatting with his wives, Rael eventually reached the end of the timer.
<You are being transported to the 4th trial…>
<###>
Rael’s eyes widened for a moment, and before he knew it, he blacked out.
He could still feel his body, but it was a much more distant feeling.
It took nearly a minute to get full control of himself, and when he did, he abruptly opened his eyes and looked around.
He found himself in a dark throne room.
The throne at the far end of the room seemed to be made out of obsidian. However, no one sat on it, and yet, no matter how he went about it, he sensed someone sitting on it.
Before he could ponder over it further, he heard footsteps behind him, and when he turned around, he saw Lucien with a rather lively look.
“I’m glad you could make it,” he said. “I take it you and my mother had a good conversation?”
“Your mother, huh?” Rael mused. “Is she really, though?”
Lucien stared back at him for a few moments, then shrugged.
“Ancient Mindweavers seem to know far more than they let on. I take it you also saw something else you shouldn’t have?”
As Rael was about to reply, Lucien continued:
“I’m talking about your constructs running rampant after your death.”
Death?
“Ah, so you didn’t see that far, then?” Lucien smiled. “Truth as it may be, last time I saw you, you were on the verge of death. Scrambling around like an urchin when you were the most powerful being in the universe… it made me sick.”
For the first time in a while, his tone changed.
“All that power, but instead of finding a cure, you gave it all away. Had I seen you at the end, I would’ve ended your life myself.”
He seems to be under the impression that I died, Rael thought with a stoic look. What I heard from others leads me to believe otherwise… is that the extent of his knowledge, then?
Not only that, Rael was kind of hoping for the pop-up to appear, displaying the fourth trial in its entirety, but there was nothing.
Not a pop-up nor even a single semblance of a trial.
Whatever this was, it was the end.
“So what now?” Rael asked plainly. “Plan to kill me here and then bring the Divine Realm down on everyone?”
“My goals aren’t so shallow,” Lucien replied. “The Divine Realm has plenty of power to descend by themselves. I have something else I’m aiming for.”
Having said those words, he slowly walked over to the throne, stopping mere meters away from it.
“Have you figured it out? My true identity, I mean?”
Rael raised a brow. “The One Beyond Time?”
Instead of replying, Lucien merely hummed amidst the silence.
Then, he raised a hand, channeling mana into it.
However, the type of mana he channeled was foreign to Rael.
It felt both potent and weak. Furthermore, he felt like he could somewhat replicate it if he tried.
Yet as Rael was momentarily lost in his thoughts, a figure suddenly flickered into existence atop the throne.
