Chapter 507: Chop-E's Little Boon

Chapter 507: Chop-E’s Little Boon

“Hmm… I really wonder what kind of dragon you are.” Vatyra whistled. “On one end, you are righteous, and then on the other, you are evil.”

Rael raised a brow. “Why does it matter?”

Vatyra paused, staring at him as though he was an idiot.

“Don’t you idiots have a realm or something? I remember when I went there, you had this weird kink of separating good and evil dragons into their own respective territories, and then they fought against each other for all eternity.”

“…?”

Burger, is she telling the truth?

[…It’s dark history. We don’t do that anymore… Kind of.] Burger sighed. [Let’s just say that your affinity determines what kind of dragon you are. If you have the fire affinity, you are a fire dragon. If you have the water affinity, you’re a water dragon.]

[You get the gist of it, but the dragons from old times still use affinities as a means of discrimination,] Burger added. [A darkness dragon would be labeled evil, and a light dragon would be labeled good. It is a stupid system, hence why even I was labeled evil, even though I was the kindest dragon alive.]

Rael didn’t need his lie-detecting skill to tell that it was bullshit, but aside from that, it was an interesting piece of information.

And if he went by that information, then…

“I guess I would be considered righteous. But still… What’s that got to do with anything?”

“Simple curiosity, don’t mind me…” Vatyra brushed it off, then glanced at Chop-E. “So this is the construct I felt in the mountains, huh? It’s pretty strong. It seems to have also found a boon.”

Noticing Rael’s confusion at the boon part, Chop-E decided to explain itself.

“I sensed mana in the mountains, and when I went to check it out, I found a crystal,” Chop-E said. All of a sudden, his Plasma Core began glowing a purple color. In the next instant, a purple crystal the size of a small rock was spewed out, landing on the ground in front of Rael.

Rael crouched down, curious. Picking up the purple crystal, he swiftly inspected it.

—Broken Power Crystal (Transcendent Enhancement Material)

If fused with an item/construct, the item/construct acquires the following option:

All your stats increase by x2 every 5 seconds, to a maximum of 50x. Base Mana Cost: 50% Mana/sec ~ 100% Mana/sec

Type: Incomplete Power Crystal

“50 times…?” Rael muttered in awe. “Doesn’t that mean your stats are around mine, then? Maybe even higher?”

After all, Chop-E wasn’t limited by such things as mana. He had an infinite amount because of the Plasma Core.

Plus, given the appearance of the item and its effects, Rael had a sneaking suspicion that Marlen Quinn, also known as the Procrastinating Wizard, might’ve been the one responsible for making this.

But aside from that, Rael passed the item back to Chop-E, who, without an ounce of hesitation, put it back inside his Plasma Core. Then, as if understanding Rael’s intentions, he moved the battered Theo aside.

Of course, he moved him quite far away so the training Rael was about to do with Vatyra wouldn’t accidentally kill Theo.

And when he was far enough away, Vatyra finally spoke up:

“Now… I’ll be teaching you a fundamental footwork skill. Pay very close attention. Oh, and I’m serious about teaching, so if I see you messing around and trying to be funny, I’m going to take back my words and leave. Understood?”

“Sure.” Rael agreed. “We can start whenever.”

Vatyra nodded slowly and brought her foot forward, taking the first step.

At first, he didn’t feel anything, only a small breeze that brushed past him, not memorable in the slightest.

Then, she took another step, and then another. By the fourth step, her foot was embedded into the earth.

On the other end, Rael’s body started trembling, feeling the pressure she emitted. But upon closer look, he realized that it was the gravity’s doing, almost as if with every step, she increased the gravity around him.

Wait… I think the gravity increased by 2 times since her last step, then—

Before he could even finish his thought, she placed her foot down. In an instant, the gravity doubled, causing his body to start aching. His heartbeat became irregular, and he knew it was only a matter of time before his bones started to break.

The sixth step, and then the seventh step. His body survived through those, but he could no longer breathe properly. It was as if his lungs were compressed.

Increasing his heartbeat, he got over that feeling, and because of that, endured the eighth step. But when it came down to the ninth step, Rael’s ankles suddenly snapped.

—CRACK!

Rael fell to the ground, trying to keep himself up. But his ankles weren’t the only things that broke, since his wrists did as well.

Finally, he pumped the Dragon Heart the fastest he could, reaching the maximum amount of 100,000,000% HP regeneration.

Because of that, his HP never fell, and his body remained intact, enough to stand up and stare at Vatyra, who was only a single hand away from him.

Vatyra was calm. However, when she saw the resolute and determined expression on Rael’s face, she took it as a challenge. After all, she was a powerful phoenix, and he was a baby dragon. Even if she was holding back severely, the technique would easily put him in his place.

However, he continued standing, and once she took the tenth step, Rael’s neck cracked, inverting. Although he was in a lot of pain, he wasn’t dead. His eyes were locked with Vatyra’s. She seemed both irritated and amazed at his resilience.

“Well…” Vatyra mumbled, taking a single step backward. Immediately, gravity returned to normal, and with his sped-up healing, his neck regenerated within moments.

“At least you survived,” she finished with a chuckle. “Though, before your ego gets inflated, just know there is no limit to the amount of steps I can take.”

She raised her hand elegantly. “All I need to do is endure the gravity myself, and if I can successfully take a step, the gravity I endured would be placed onto my opponent. Neat, right?”

“That’s…” Rael narrowed his eyes. “Ten steps equals only around 1024 times gravity, right? Why am I feeling it so much?”

“Because your body isn’t naturally protected by mana. I honestly thought you were going to fold like an idiot after the first four steps. You proved me wrong, but it’s not over. I will do it two more times so you get the gist of it. After that, you can try it yourself, yeah?”
