Chapter 506: Theo Aurenthia
As Rael walked out form within the Silver Willow Tree, the wind brushed past him violently, slightly cutting his face. It quickly healed up. Thankfully, he didn’t exactly need mana to pump his heart faster to regenerate.
However, once he left the inner part of the Silver Willow Tree, he was met with quite the gruesome sight.
There were bodies of soldiers scattered all throughout the area. The ground itself was in multiple pieces, and there were even ravines that seemed nearly endless. They all had something in common: the damage was made by a sword, Chop-E’s sword.
And speaking about Chop-E, he was currently in midair, fighting against a soldier who seemed fairly powerful.
After the soldier made one mistake, Chop-E seized the opportunity, severing his hands and then cleanly lopping off his head.
As the soldier fell to the ground, the battle came to a close. After all, aside from Theo, there wasn’t a single soldier remaining.
Chop-E didn’t seem injured either. If anything, he was brimming with power, and if Rael had to guess, it was because of the Plasma Core.
That sure is working wonders. Rael smiled, stepping closer.
When Chop-E spotted him, he gave Rael a thumbs up, then appeared right beside him.
“I dealt with them as you said.”
“…”
Rael sighed.
“I still can’t get used to you being so mature… But never mind that. Tell me, did you find anything off about them?”
Chop-E shook his head. “King Theo had a poison needle. He tried to kill himself, so I incapacitated him.”
Rael raised a brow. “Incapacitated him, how exactly?”
Instead of saying another word, Chop-E gestured toward Theo. At a glance, it didn’t seem like anything was off. However, when Rael arrived in front of Theo, he soon realized what Chop-E meant by incapacitation.
“No legs… No arms, and no teeth? Did you keep his family jewels?”
Chop-E’s brows twitched. “I didn’t touch his family jewels. They’re intact. So is his sanity, I think…””
Think… huh? Well, it could be worse, Rael thought with a hum and crouched down, meeting Theo’s gaze.
He was clearly out of it. Who wouldn’t be after having their limbs lopped off?
But since Rael wanted Theo to talk, he kind of needed him a little healed up.
Therefore…
“Vatyra, you wouldn’t happen to know how to heal someone, would you?”
“I might be a phoenix that can’t rebirth, but that doesn’t mean I can’t do something so easy. Are you looking down on me, dumb baby dragon?” Vatyra replied with a pout and walked up.
Flames gathered around her arm and shot straight toward Theo. It looked like he would be burned, but instead, he was completely healed.
His limbs had regenerated, as did his teeth.
And of course, his broken mind came back soon after.
“Rael…” Theo muttered, hate filled his gaze.
“Hmm?” Rael tilted his head. “I never did tell you my name, did I? So how do you know?”
“…” Theo’s brows scrunched up. “That’s… My father told me.” Follow current ɴᴏᴠᴇʟs on novelFɪre.net
Not believing it at all, Rael let out a chuckle.
“Yeah? What is he, a prophet?”
[My father is dead…]
[No, I can’t tell him that…]
[B-But what if he kills me and revives me again…? I… I need to take the chance he won’t…]
That old man is dead? Rael mused. How did that happen…? Fuck. If only I had mana right now, I could control this guy and comb through his mind.
With the new skill, Eternal Marionette, he could only imagine the limits of what he could do with it now. His races worked wonders too. There was also that new skill he had gotten, but since his time in the Depths was coming to an end, he was simply going to check it once he was out of here.
Anyhow, Rael didn’t make it obvious that he could read Theo’s mind. And so, he waited for Theo to gather his thoughts and reply to his earlier question.
But he didn’t. He changed the topic.
“Why have you come here…?”
“Probably for the same reason as you.” Rael’s smirk grew. “To meet Lucien. Right? I guess you came here to free him instead, but oh well… I don’t really care that much.”
Rael stood back up, his gaze sharpening as he placed a single hand over Theo’s head.
“Your family is very useful. You control so much… And make Aurenthia so much money. It’s honestly a pity that you’re a puppet,” Rael said coldly. “If you’re already a puppet, and not mine, what’s the point in keeping you alive?”
Theo’s eyes widened as he bit down hard on his lip, drawing blood. “Kill me, and all of Aurenthia will become your enemy!”
“As fate would have it, I have an ability that can make puppets out of people. They can retain the memories, and after I put a Plasma Core inside your body, you’ll be loyal to me.”
Both Chop-E and Vatyra stared at him, slightly shocked. Chop-E even more so because he had never seen Rael be so cruel before. As for Vatyra, even while using dragon standards, she was left a little impressed.
“But until I can use my mana once again…” Rael trailed off, raising his hand.
Then, without even an ounce of hesitation, he brought it down, cleaving Theo’s arm off. He did it again, and again. Eventually, Theo was left screaming on the ground, and even that was short-lived as Rael crouched down and picked up a broken sword belonging to one of the nearby soldiers.
He flicked his finger, snapping off the rest of the blade, then shoved the bloody hilt into Theo’s mouth, silencing him.
“You may ponder about your life for the next 24 hours…” Rael reached into the Premium Shop and pulled out a thick piece of cloth, wrapping it around Theo’s eyes.
“In darkness, of course.”
And with those words, Rael was done with what he wanted to do.
He’d comb through Theo’s memories tomorrow to find out what really happened to his father. But until then, he would let him suffer.
All the while, Rael would sure Theo was the perfect vessel for a new construct he was going to make.
Nonetheless, he wiped Theo’s blood off his hands and then turned toward Vatyra.
With most things settled, only one agenda remained…
“Let’s begin the training, shall we?”
