Chapter 2033: A Good Thief

Grey took a glance at the gray-haired beastman, not expecting him to bring up such a condition. He thought of so many possibilities, but this particular one never crossed his mind. Most people would never want to ally with someone who not only blatantly stole their sacred treasure, but also injured a few of their top experts. It was one thing to admire the other party’s strength, but willing to trust him in battle was another, and the gray-haired beastman seemingly wanted to do that.

Grey fell silent for a while, not giving them an answer. He landed his gaze on the gray-haired beastman, staring deep into his eyes, as if trying to see if the beastman was lying or not. To his surprise, all he saw in the eyes of the gray-haired beastman was nothing but sincerity and genuineness, which he found very strange.

’Could they be trying to trick me?’ This was the first thought that sprung in Grey’s head. He can not be blamed for having such thoughts, after all, he was a Human, and Humans tend to be deceptive by nature.

"Your companions are injured, so what’s the point of wanting to fight someone now?" Grey probed. He needed to be certain that the gray-haired beastman was sure of what he just asked.

"All they need is a day’s rest, and they will be fine to fight." The gray-haired beastman replied.

Grey took a glance at the duo he struck, particularly the other beastman who was unable to evade or get any help during the attack. Raising a brow, he said, "I can help you with killing someone." After a short pause, he continued, "But if things go sideways, you’re on your own."

Helping these beastpeople in exchange for the lightning crystal was not much of a problem for him, what he did not want though is being dragged into a fight where the enemies are more than expected.

"The clan we are going after have the same number of experts as mine, so there shall be no unexpected turns." The gray-haired beastman replied.

Grey nodded after hearing this, he took a glance at the gray-haired beastman and said, "I’ll have to leave and return tomorrow."

"You go nowhere." The white-clothed beastman said coldly. His eyes locked on Grey’s body.

Grey tilted his head to the side, glancing at the white-clothed beastman from the side of his eyes.

The white-clothed beastman involuntarily took a step back when he saw Grey’s gaze. For some reason, he felt a threat to his life just from this simple look. One has to know that the white-clothed beastman was the one with a higher cultivation, yet all it took from his opponent was a simple glance and he felt chills run down his spine.

"I understand you don’t trust me." Grey commented, he withdrew his gaze and focused on the gray-haired beastman as he continued, "But I have other matters to attend to at the moment." He pointed at Void who was lying on his shoulder and added, "My companion here will stay with you until I return tomorrow."

He knew these beastpeople would never let him leave with just a word, so he had a conversation with Void to know if he was okay with staying with these beastpeople until he returned. Void naturally had no issues with staying here for a day. It was not like these beastpeople could cause him any harm. They were powerless to stop Grey who was not even on the same level as him when it came to the space element, hence his confidence he could leave if these people wanted to try anything funny.

The gray-haired beastman looked at Void, surprised by the way the strange boy addressed him. When he initially saw the black cat, he thought it was just the beast of this strange boy. Only now did he notice the duo did not act like one was superior. Even though he did not know if what Void was translating for them was true, he could see the mannerisms with which the strange boy spoke to the cat.

"Alright, we have no problem hosting your companion until your return."

And with that, they came to an agreement. Grey naturally still kept the lightning crystal. There was no way he would return it to them now that it was with him.

After telling Void to be careful and not cause any trouble until he returned, he vanished from the view of the beastpeople.

The weaker beastpeople did not know the conversation their leaders had with the thief, but watching him leave, some of them wanted to attack. Although they wanted to attack and stop him, they did not dare to. Since the top experts did not attack him, why should they?

Besides, they have seen how powerful this strange thief was and knew they were no match for him.

"Can we trust him?" The white-clothed beastman asked as he stared in the direction Grey disappeared.

"I don’t think he’s an unreasonable person. Besides, he left his companion here. Even though he is a thief, he does not seem to be a bad person." The gray-haired beastman stroked his gray beards as he replied, his deep eyes seemingly seeing through the character of a person from a glance.

The white-clothed beastman snorted, "Humph! All thieves are bad people."

"Some have no choice." The gray-haired beastman shook his head, he then asked, "Didn’t you notice even though he could have, he didn’t kill any of our clansmen?"

"It doesn’t change the fact that he’s a thief." The white-clothed beastman was unmoved.

The gray-haired beastman chuckled and nodded, "Indeed he is, but this thief is going to help us eliminate our greatest threat. Not just that, we will also be able to compensate for the sacred treasure he took."

"You mean..."

"Yes, the Tempest Fang Clan will never see us coming." The gray-haired beastman grinned.

Hearing the gray-haired beastman speak of the Tempest Fang Clan, a look of anticipation appeared on the faces of the three other Peak Sovereigns.

Void listened to their conversations and soon realized what they were up to.
