Chapter 1611: The Battle For Number One
"Interesting," Wu Hong smiled. Such a beautiful face should have a loving, endearing, or charming smile, but hers sent chills down people’s spines. Anyone who knew her would understand this was not a happy smile. No, this smile was when the king of the jungle discovered one of her underlings dared to confront her.
Wu Hong’s reputation was built on results. Everybody knew she was the person everybody least wanted to fight. While Yan Hai had a weakness that could be exploited, Wu Hong did not. Her attack potency reached the 99th percentile, her attack was versatile, her flesh was cultivated to perfection — meaning her stamina was high — and finally, she had one of the most annoying fighting styles.
She is by no means invincible. No one can claim such an achievement. In the early days as a Primal, Wu Hong was mainly playing catch-up due to her age. But as she slowly reached her peak, everybody knew that the best way to deal with her was by ganging up. However, even such tactics proved to be challenging to execute.
Right before the Second Origin War, Heavenly Dao either sensed the upcoming change or was already aware, so it released numerous fortunate encounters to prepare the world. In one of these secret trials, Wu Hong encountered five individuals: the Xiao Ancestor, Bai Qi, Shen Tian, the Taoist Three Minds, and the Earth Sword God.
They immediately saw her as the greatest threat and worked together against her. This battle was legendary and was fundamental in cementing Wu Hong’s status in the world. In this desperate fight, she successfully sealed three of these people and fought Bai Qi and the Xiao Ancestor long enough until Lie Peiqi arrived and pushed them away.
A small nine-layer pagoda floated in front of Wu Hong before fusing with her body, leaving a red mark on her forehead. Normally, such a cosmetic would have accentuated her beauty, but her terrifying aura only made her seem more dangerous. Six projections loomed behind her, forming a harmonious sight.
Ying Zheng would not be outdone as an Emperor Seal floated in front of him before entering his body. Additionally, a golden dragon armor materialized on his body, further elevating his charm and majesty. The six projections also seemed to fit his mind, ambition, and spirit perfectly.
[Dragon Suppression Fist]
Ying Zheng punched forward to release a golden dragon with a suppressive aura that hindered the operation of the rules around him, and also contained the power of probability, ensuring everything went according to the emperor’s desires. Wu Hong waved her left hand, and the dragon turned into a speck of light the size of a basketball. Meanwhile, her right conjured a bronze cauldron.
Ying Zheng snorted coldly, and the white light transformed back into a dragon, but it was only for less than a second before reverting, making him frown. He then threw dozens of punches and dragons. The cauldron rotated, and all the dragons were drawn to it. They resisted, but just like light cannot escape a black hole, these attacks could not escape their fate.
They turned into white lights, and some even briefly changed back, but they all immediately reverted to their original form. The cauldron swiftly turned from bronze to silver, and Wu Hong controlled it to hammer her opponent. Ying Zheng’s first instinct was to evade, but the cauldron seemed to contain the weight of the world, and it was using it to increase gravity to an absurd level, even affecting space-time.
"Nullify," Ying Zheng uttered. As a sovereign, his words were absolute. The cauldron paused for a very short period, but that was enough for him to escape its range. "Revolt." With his command, a significant portion of the Void Battlefield came alive and revolted against the presence of Wu Hong in its domain.
They encased her in a bubble full of the power of the void, trying to erase her from existence. However, she calmly drew a rune that instantly absorbed the bubble and all its power. She crushed the rune, releasing its power toward her opponent.
"Forbi —"
Wu Hong appeared behind Ying Zheng. Her rune did not just swallow the battlefield’s power, but also took control of some of its authority, which she used to travel at a speed beyond her opponent’s reaction. Ying Zheng was sent flying by a powerful kick.
’Hmm?’ Wu Hong thought. The armor was interesting. Her attack caused no damage whatsoever. On top of that, her seal failed; she couldn’t even seal a small portion of its power. ’A power that I have no knowledge of? No, I definitely sensed the power of destiny and luck. So, is it an unknown application or is there something my senses didn’t pick up?’
The best way to deal with this armor was to unravel its mystery, and the fastest way to achieve that was to break a piece of it and study the core. A projection of a world flashed behind Wu Hong before fusing with the Grand Constructs, primarily Primordial Chaos.
[Heavenly Dao’s Scrutiny]
Wu Hong once sealed a young Chaos World into herself to sublimate her flesh. During the process, she went the extra mile to preserve the nascent Heavenly Dao, and this was probably the best decision she has ever made. That Heavenly Dao has been instrumental in acquiring knowledge and boosting the Heaven aspect of her Sealing Dao.
Ying Zheng felt danger, so he immediately used a defensive skill: [Heaven and Earth’s Unworthiness]. His body entered a strange state in which everything between Heaven and Earth was unworthy to affect; it did not matter whether it was space, time, death, or even causality — they were not worthy to affect, let alone injure, the supreme ruler.
An invisible power blocked Wu Hong’s foot, but that was only temporarily. She broke through it, forcing Ying Zheng to cross his arms to block. He heard a cracking sound, and to his slight surprise, a small piece of his armor was broken off. Wu Hong did not pass up this opportunity and started a barrage of attacks. Unfortunately, only the first strike caused actual damage. However, her primary purpose had been achieved. After the initial break, her Heavenly Dao can gather a significant amount of information with each punch or kick.
’An armor connected to an unknown history, and without knowing the history, 99.999% of damages will be nullified,’ Wu Hong analyzed. ’That history must either be from his time on Earth or from his first life.’ Numerous thoughts flashed in her mind.
’Earth would be a much safer bet, but by now, he should have guessed Wang Wei’s origin, and his paranoia would not allow such a possible weakness. That leaves his second life. He destroyed Qin before his reincarnation, essentially wiping out its history. However, certain things cannot be erased, for example, the fact that it involved the Qin dynasty or that people like Bai Qi must have been present.’
The little bit of information was enough for Wu Hong to deduce some truth about this unknown history, and as long as she had enough knowledge, sealing the armor would become as simple as slicing a piece of cake. Her attack then became more ferocious as she tried to create more cracks and catch more essence.
Ying Zheng squinted. Wu Hong was not the only one trying to figure out her opponent. He did not head into this battle without preparation; that would be cockiness, and Ying Zheng was confident. At the start of the fight, he tried the tactic of an instant burst of power to forcefully break the seals, but this approach did not work.
He then attempted to use a True Will technique to unravel the seal and free his attacks, but that also did not work. So, Ying Zheng tried to combine the instant burst and the True Will application. While that was more successful than their individual counterparts, this tactic also failed as Wu Hong used her own True Will skill to counter his.
Finally, Ying Zheng tried his trump card tactic for this battle: evolving skills. The key to Wu Hong’s Sealing Dao was her vast knowledge. She can target the weakness or essence of any skills, therefore achieving the effect of instant seals. However, if the skills were constantly evolving or changing, her seals would also need to evolve and change accordingly.
Ying Zheng had no doubt she had such capabilities. However, the flaw with this type of seal is that it was more stamina-draining, and above all, there was a slight pause between each evolution or adaptation. If he uses that pause, he can ensure that many of his attacks bypass her defense.
Ying Zheng immediately put this theory to the test, and he immediately saw results. As they clashed, more and more of his attacks could leave his body and reach her defensive zone, forcing her to use other means to block. However, after observing for a while, he noticed something that forced him to distance himself.
"You look perfectly fine, with smooth and controlled breathing even after so many attacks," Ying Zheng commented. "That can only mean one thing: transcendent foundation."
"And? Did you think you were the only one?" Wu Hong calmly replied.
