Chapter 3687: Running Away

Lyanna and the others saw that the ritual had clearly been completed smoothly, yet Fang Heng was still standing at the center of the ritual, looking troubled, and they could not help but find it strange.

"Your Majesty."

"Mm."

Fang Heng raised his head, looked at Lyanna, and asked, "Lyanna, does Sea God Island have a method for condensing a God’s core?"

Lyanna frowned slightly, thought for a moment, then shook her head. "As far as I know, there is none. The three Sea Gods worshipped on Sea God Island are King-level gods. Any other false gods are considered heretics in Sea God Island’s doctrine, and any attempt to condense a god’s core would not be allowed. In theory, if such a method ever existed, it would have been destroyed."

"But I cannot guarantee that. Perhaps someone deliberately left fragments behind."

"Mm..."

Fang Heng responded softly.

It seemed he would still have to make a trip to Sea God Island to investigate.

Even if he could not find the method to condense a god’s core, at least Sea God Island had many deities.

If he could plunder them all and convert them into divine authority, it would be a considerable gain and would also pave the way for upgrading the divine statue for his future mission.

Fang Heng turned to Lyanna and asked, "Lyanna, how much do you know about Sea God Island’s main island?"

...

Elliot had been waiting at the cave entrance for over two hours, and his unease had grown stronger.

Something was wrong.

It had already been more than two hours, and there had been no movement at all.

Could something have really gone wrong?

Even if the god servant could not defeat Fang Heng, escaping should not have been a problem.

There was no way they could have been wiped out this quickly.

Elliot looked at the Sea God Island guards outside the cave and asked, "It’s been so long without any movement. Should we go take a look?"

The guard glanced coldly at Elliot without answering.

"Tch..." Elliot cursed inwardly, growing more and more certain that something was wrong. He prepared to call his subordinates to report to Duke Windy.

Suddenly, footsteps came from inside the cave.

Elliot immediately became alert and looked toward the cave entrance.

Lyanna emerged with a dark expression, leading her guards.

Elliot hurried forward to greet her, forcing a flattering smile. "Welcome, Lord Oracle. Did everything go smoothly?"

Lyanna turned to him with a cold expression. "Do you think so? Did you have fun fooling me?"

"Huh?" Elliot panicked. "My lord, there must be a misunderstanding..."

Lyanna interrupted him. "There is no one in the cave."

Elliot froze completely, unable to respond for a moment.

No one?

Impossible!

Their men had been guarding outside twenty-four hours a day; they were certain Fang Heng and the others had gone inside.

And there had clearly been sounds of battle earlier.

Yet now she said there was no one?

Lyanna snorted coldly and waved her hand. "We are leaving!"

"Yes!"

...

After receiving the report, Duke Windy was also completely stunned.

"You searched it? You confirmed there was no one in the hidden cave?"

"We did not dare to go too deep, but afterward we saw people from the merchant guild entering and leaving the cave," the subordinate reported.

Elliot also looked like he had seen a ghost.

They clearly saw them go in, so how could they suddenly be gone?

Could Fang Heng really use some kind of forbidden art?

While he was still shaken, one of his subordinates rushed into the hall and reported to Duke Windy, "My lord, Sea God Island has agreed to our compensation terms and is preparing to withdraw from the Empire."

"Huh? So fast?"

Duke Windy stood up abruptly from his chair.

Good news.

Sea God Island had been here for three days, demanding extremely harsh compensation terms. He had thought negotiations would take much longer.

Yet suddenly they had agreed.

The Oz Empire had suffered heavy losses, but at least the matter was finally resolved.

However, thinking further, why would Sea God Island suddenly back down?

Duke Windy frowned deeply, sensing something was off.

"Tell me exactly what happened."

"We are not sure. Someone from Sea God Island came to inform us. They seemed very anxious and were already preparing to leave the port."

"Let’s go to the harbor and take a look," Duke Windy said.

...

Two hours later, at the sea harbor.

Sea God Island had acted with unusual urgency, quickly finalizing compensation with the Empire and immediately setting sail.

Finally, those troublemakers were gone!

Duke Windy looked out at the departing fleet of Sea God Island ships, finally feeling the weight lift from his chest.

He suspected Sea God Island might have encountered some trouble, which was why they left so abruptly.

Regardless, the mission assigned by His Majesty was finally completed successfully.

"Duke Windy," a voice suddenly came from behind him.

Duke Windy startled and turned around. When he saw who it was, his expression immediately turned unpleasant. "Fang Heng! Why are you here?"

"Duke Windy, that is an odd question. I had an agreement with Princess Willow that I would remain hidden during Sea God Island’s stay in the Empire. Now that they have left, of course I can appear, can’t I?"

Duke Windy sneered, about to retort, when a strange thought suddenly flashed through his mind.

Sea God Island had left in such a hurry—could it have something to do with this kid?

No way.

He shook his head slightly, dismissing the ridiculous thought.

"You are quite well-informed. Do you know how much loss the Empire suffered because of you?"

"I heard some of it," Fang Heng replied calmly, looking at the departing fleet. "Frankly, this is your own doing. I never told you to submit to Sea God Island."

Duke Windy’s expression turned furious. "You—"

Fang Heng cut him off. "Duke Windy, since our agreement with the Empire has been completed, can you have our ships unsealed? We have something to handle."

"Leave? So suddenly? Sea God Island’s fleet hasn’t gone far yet. Aren’t you afraid of running into them?" Duke Windy frowned. "And you’re not going to see Her Highness the Princess?"

"No need to trouble you, Duke Windy. I am in a hurry and do not have time to meet Her Highness. I have left something for her. If you see her, please tell her I will remember this favor. If she ever needs help, she can come find me."

Duke Windy sneered inwardly. What a "favor" this was turning into.

"Oh, and that merchant ship I left for the princess—please relay that as well."
