Chapter 3041: Nonsense

"Gulp..."

Kapa listened to Fang Heng’s instructions ringing in his ears and immediately became more nervous, subconsciously swallowing hard.

Doris caught the strange expression on Kapa’s face and asked, "What is it? More information?"

"Sir, there’s something I don’t dare say..."

"Speak. You’re only translating the message. Whether we believe it is up to us."

Kapa whispered, "According to the prophecy’s timeline, the year 93781 of the Ten-Thousand-Year Calendar—which is this year—predicts that the elves will face a threat of disaster..."

Doris’s pupils suddenly contracted, and several elite rays of light bloomed in her eyes.

Kapa quickly lowered his head, not daring to meet Doris’s gaze.

"Heh..."

Doris sneered and said, "You’re saying our Elven world is about to face a disaster?"

Kapa vaguely felt a killing intent radiating from Doris and immediately knelt to beg for mercy.

"I’m sorry, we meant no offense to the elves. I think it may be a problem with the stone slab’s record—maybe due to the distance, the calculation was off. Based on the wall’s inscription, the disaster should have happened more than half a month ago, so it was probably a miscalculation..."

Doris shook her head and raised her hand, "Stand up. I already said the translation has nothing to do with you. Whether it’s accurate is not for you to determine."

"Thank you for your understanding."

"Kapa, you’ll stay here for now and continue your translation work. I need to know the specific details of the disaster, how to resolve it, and how to fully revive the Tree of Life. Understood?"

Kapa quickly nodded and replied, "Yes, we’ll speed up that part of the translation."

Doris gave a soft hum and signaled the Water Star Clan guards nearby to arrange accommodations for Kapa and his companions.

She didn’t fully trust Kapa’s words, but the information could still serve as a reference for the Elven council’s discussions.

As for the so-called disaster?

Doris didn’t believe it.

Most of the year had already passed, and the elves had never detected any sign of disaster.

Either Kapa’s translation was flawed, or the ancient wall’s prophecy was off.𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Doris leaned toward the former.

"Kapa, well done. Stay here and continue the translation. Keep them stable."

Nearby, Kapa had just returned to the rock wall, pretending to continue translating when he heard Fang Heng’s voice in his ear and sighed inwardly.

It’s over.

He felt like Boss Fang was about to stir up something big again...

"Whoosh!"

Fang Heng’s soul body floated out from the cavern again, flying toward the top of the grotto.

After exiting into the primeval forest outside the cave, Fang Heng looked around once more and then quickly flew toward another section of the forest on the opposite side of the Tree of Life.

Moments later, Fang Heng landed and reverted to his physical form.

It was time.

After confirming there were no elves nearby, Fang Heng flipped his wrist and threw out more than ten sealing rune papers.

"Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!!!"

The rune papers exploded in midair, and several Lickers sprang out from them, quickly forming flesh cocoons on the ground.

Within seconds, vine zombie clones crawled out from the cocoons, staggering toward Fang Heng to assist in setting up Abe Akaya’s summoning magic array.

...

Given the importance of the Tree of Life and the information from the ancient stone wall prophecy, Doris dared not be careless. After leaving the cavern, she immediately called an emergency meeting of the Elven Council.

Among the Elven leaders, there were many differing opinions on the inscription on the wall.

A minority believed that the information provided by the Flying Squirrel Clan, especially the prediction about the Tree of Life’s weakening and impending demise, held some truth. The ancestors’ words might have a deeper meaning.

After all, the elves had spent a vast amount of time and effort trying to revive the Tree of Life’s vitality, with no success.

They couldn’t even slow its aging, let alone restore it.

But the majority of the Elven elders believed the Flying Squirrel Clan was spouting nonsense and disrespecting the Elven race. They suggested chopping them up and feeding them to the ancient Tree of Life.

The two sides couldn’t reach a consensus.

During the meeting, Brand, who had rushed to attend, also mentioned the issue of human intruders.

As a result, the discussion unknowingly shifted focus to the suspected human incursion and how Elven world information had been discovered by outsiders, trying to identify where the leak had occurred.

As usual, once the elves started their meeting, they didn’t know when to stop.

Over five hours passed, and the elves still hadn’t reached a definitive conclusion.

Eventually, the Elven King grew tired and temporarily halted the discussion, offering a compromise acceptable to both sides.

"Let’s wait and see. Brand, continue to monitor the humans closely. If anything suspicious is found, use all available strength to capture them—dead or alive."

Brand respectfully nodded, "Yes, great Elven King."

"As for the stone wall translation, we still can’t confirm its authenticity. Doris, I’ll have you continue keeping the Flying Squirrel Clan steady. Let them keep translating. The ancient Tree of Life is critical. Until we confirm the wall’s message, it’s not the time to make judgments. We still have time to verify it."

"Understood. I’ll keep an eye on the ancient stone wall. Praise the great Elven King..."

"Father, I believe that spending effort on the ancient stone wall language is a complete waste of time and will only affect our judgment regarding the Ancient Tree of Life. We don’t need to be influenced by these outside voices. I suggest we immediately gather all our strength to locate the so-called ’Sacred Tree’ mentioned by the humans, extract its vitality, and use it to nourish the Ancient Tree of Life. I believe this will surely awaken its power once more."

The Elven King’s second son, Lucien, shared the same views as most of the other conservative Elven high-ranking officials.

The conservatives believed that the elves’ sacred tree was the greatest source of power.

Though it was currently withering, they believed they could reverse the situation.

Not just the conservatives—most elves present found the Flying Squirrel Clan’s claims laughable.

Disaster?

What a joke!

The elves had never experienced any disaster in their history.

It was utter nonsense!

Not this year, not even in the next millions of years!

"Your Highness, the mutant worm disaster is no trivial matter," said an elderly Elven patriarch, shaking his head. "The Flying Squirrel Clan’s claims haven’t been verified. The Elven world is vast and sparsely populated. If what the prophecy said is true, and the disaster has only just begun spreading in the last few months, it’s possible we haven’t yet discovered the mutant worm creatures."

"Elder, I think you’re just too timid. Since when could the Flying Squirrel Clan even translate ancient texts? How about this—I’ll personally lead a team to investigate the humans’ traces, and while we’re at it, check for any signs of a disaster swarm. If we confirm there’s no disaster, you can rest easy. How about that?"

The elder said no more and nodded, "So Your Highness already had a plan. I was overthinking it."
