Book 8: Chapter 37: Protest demonstration

Book 8: Chapter 37: Protest demonstration

The seventh continental magician conference held by the Mana Magic Kingdom smoothly progressed.

This conference’s main topic was about restoring the magician grading system.

Most of the magicians who attended supported this suggestion.

After all, for the magicians of the continent, the magician grading system had become the standard of judging a magician’s grade since it had been established by the Magicians Guild, so it had a glorious history.

Although recently because of the drive of Xu Yi and the Frestech Chamber of Commerce, many magicians didn’t care about this grading system and even quite a few magicians didn’t take it, causing the Magicians Guild to stop offering it in recent years.

For most magicians, especially high level magicians, this grading system had a very important meaning.

So after this subject was raised, it received a large amount of approval.

But everyone was very clear that the traditional magician grading system had lost its meaning.

With the power of the Frestech Chamber of Commerce and because the magic machine industry had greatly developed on the Sines Continent, the thoughts of the continent’s magicians had greatly changed.

For most of the current magicians, an individual’s magic power wasn’t that important. What was important was how they could apply their understanding of magic into the magic machine industry, getting them a better job.

So although the Magicians Guild had spent quite a bit of effort to set this main topic, the core discussion was about how to give the magicians of the continent a ranking system that was more detailed and closely related to the magic machine industry.

Out of the ones that attended this conference, there was no doubt that Xu Yi as the Frestech Chamber of Commerce’s chairman had the most rights to speak about this matter.

As the chairman of the continent’s greatest and most perfect magic machine company, also as the continent’s top Arch Magus, Xu Yi had the deepest understanding of combining magicians with the magic machine industry.

So when the main topic came up, Xu Yi became the center of the discussion.

But Xu Yi unexpectedly didn’t give that many opinions from the beginning. He just gave everyone the research grading system that the Frestech Chamber of Commerce had used for twenty years as a reference.

He didn’t say anything else when it came to other matters.

Even when this discussion was over, when most of the magicians had supported the Magicians Guild resuming the grading system, Xu Yi didn’t oppose it like many people had expected, but he also didn’t approve of it.

When the topic changed to topics other than the main topic, Xu Yi became very active in his participation.

Not only did he participate in the hot topics at this conference, he even took out the Frestech Chamber of Commerce’s research results to share with everyone to their surprise.

This act had filled the magicians that had come to this conference with joy.

With the brand new scientific view of magic that Xu Yi and the Frestech Chamber of Commerce proposed, all of the magicians that started using this system realized the benefits brought by this new system.

Among this new system, the most important thing was sharing knowledge because this allowed everyone’s understanding of magic to deepen even faster.

But because of the past limits, even if the magicians of the continent had results with their research, they liked to hide it for themselves.

The biggest exception was Xu Yi and the Frestech Chamber of Commerce.

Xu Yi would frequently publish various new research results in the «Frestech Magic Machine Weekly». The Frestech Chamber of Commerce would also publish their research results from time to time.

This method allowed the magicians of the continent to quickly develop their understanding of the scientific research of magic, greatly increasing their understanding of magic.

So no matter what the magicians of the continent thought of Xu Yi, there was a bit of gratitude towards Xu Yi in their hearts.

If it wasn’t for Xu Yi, there would be many magicians who would never touch a new height in their lives.

Now that Xu Yi had released all these new research results at this conference, naturally he gained the commendation and respect of the other magicians.

Of course, Xu Yi wouldn’t just publish these results to these magicians alone, he would publish it to the entire continent.

So any magician and any country could share these results.

As for what they obtained in the end, that would depend on the skills of the people.

With Xu Yi’s generosity and enthusiasm, as well as him not opposing the main topic as expected, the seventh continental magician conference went very smoothly and could be considered a complete success.

But another matter involving Xu Yi looked completely different.

On the day that Xu Yi left Fanhorn alone, the Mana Magic Kingdom’s government had sent people to apologize to Xu Yi, as well as inviting Xu Yi to have a discussion with the Mana Magic Kingdom’s king.

However, Xu Yi didn’t say anything like he didn’t receive an invitation at all.

Then the Frestech Chamber of Commerce’s official channel gave the Mana Magic Kingdom an ultimatum. They stated that the Mana Magic Kingdom would have a year to propose a complete and effective plan to cooperate, determining the progress of their cooperation or the Frestech Chamber of Commerce would terminate their agreement from before. This would mean that the termination between the two sides would become invalid.

With the Frestech Chamber of Commerce’s current power on the continent, even the two empires had to be cautious if they acted like this, not to mention that Mana Magic Kingdom.

So after receiving this ultimatum, the Mana Magic Kingdom government immediately responded to the Frestech Chamber of Commerce’s official channel. They indicated that they were sincere about cooperating and would give an appropriate plan as soon as possible.

But when Xu Yi thought that the Mana Magic Kingdom would take this seriously, there was a large-scale protest that happened in Sorcery City.

There wasn’t an exact count for the number of people, but based on what Xu Yi saw, it was at least over thirty thousand people. There were also quite a few of them that were wearing magician robes, showing their identity as magicians.

The slogan of the protest was very surprising, they were shouting “the Frestech Chamber of Commerce should scram from the Mana Magic Kingdom”……

When the Frestech Chamber of Commerce was cooperating with the Mana Magic Kingdom’s government and when the Frestech Chamber of Commerce’s chairman Xu was in Sorcery City, this kind of protest had erupted, which caught countless people’s attention.

The reporters of the major newspapers gathered in Sorcery City, covering the protest for five whole days.

The major newspapers had analyzed the protest and came up with different conclusions.

But the unified consensus was that the Mana Magic Kingdom was filled with hostility towards the Frestech Chamber of Commerce. It wasn’t like the other kingdoms that had warmly welcomed the Frestech Chamber of Commerce.

Everyone cared about the reaction of Xu Yi who was in Sorcery City at this time, but Xu Yi didn’t accept any interviews at all and never expressed his views in a public setting.

The Frestech Chamber of Commerce indicated that this was a misunderstanding of the Frestech Chamber of Commerce from the Mana Magic Kingdom’s citizens. This wouldn’t accept their cooperation with the Mana Magic Kingdom.

The Mana Magic Kingdom also indicated that this protest was held by the citizens and was unrelated to the government. It wouldn’t affect the cooperation between the two sides.

On the surface, both sides didn’t seem to treat this matter seriously, like it was just a small breeze.

But in reality, the Mana Magic Kingdom’s interior opposition towards the Frestech Chamber of Commerce became even stronger.

After finally calming down the demonstration in Sorcery City with great difficulty, the Mana Magic Kingdom had seventeen cities that erupted with similar demonstrations that had the same slogan as the Sorcery City protest.

Other than this, there was a wave of rumours inside the Mana Magic Kingdom that stated “resist the Frestech Chamber of Commerce, refuse to buy any of their products”.

During this unrest, there were various bad rumours that spread about the Frestech Chamber of Commerce.

Some said that the Frestech Chamber of Commerce’s quality was only boasting and it wasn’t that good.

Some said that the Frestech Chamber of Commerce’s products sold in the Mana Magic Kingdom took the hard earned money of the Mana Magic Kingdom’s people, which was draining the blood out of the Mana Magic Kingdom.

Some said that the Frestech Chamber of Commerce wanted to secretly control the Mana Magic Kingdom through their investments. After they grasp control, they would enslave the people of the Mana Magic Kingdom.

Some even said that there were hidden control mechanisms in the Frestech Chamber of Commerce’s products that would be used to control……

Some even said……

……

All kinds of rumours spread across the Mana Magic Kingdom and even spread to other countries through various newspapers. This caused some other countries to get caught up in this wave and boycott the Frestech Chamber of Commerce’s products.

It was a good thing that outside of the Mana Magic Kingdom, the Frestech Chamber of Commerce had much more influence in other countries. They were able to dispel these rumours through the major newspapers and Magic Illusion Projector broadcasts.

But in the Mana Magic Kingdom, the situation was already out of control.

However, while everyone’s eyes were on the Frestech Chamber of Commerce, waiting to see how they would solve this, the Frestech Chamber of Commerce made a shocking announcement.

The Frestech Chamber of Commerce would be completely withdrawing from the Mana Magic Kingdom.
