Chapter 3557: Medusa (23)
Ning Shu was truly fed up with Perseus’s self-righteous act.
To him, he represented justice while she was the embodiment of evil, even though she didn’t have a single thing to do with him and had never harmed him.
This display filled Ning Shu with disgust.
He was seizing any excuse just to pass judgment on her.
Even if she had committed blasphemy, she hadn’t blasphemed against him. He was nothing more than one of Zeus’s bastards.
Ning Shu sliced off Perseus’s head. It spun through the air before landing in the dirt, covered in dust. His face was a mask of righteous indignation mixed with a sudden, sharp fear. His handsome features had twisted in agony.
Blood geysered from his neck as his body slumped from the horse, hitting the ground with a dull thud that kicked up a cloud of dust.
The surrounding guards were paralyzed with shock. She had decapitated him after just a few words. He was a prince! Even if he had suffered through hardships since childhood, he was still a prince.
The guards raised their shields and pointed their spears at Ning Shu, who was still in the air.
Ning Shu curled her lip. She looked down at the head on the ground. Perhaps it was because he possessed the blood of a god—the blood of the king of gods, no less—but he wasn’t dead even after being separated from his body.
Ning Shu opened her hand, and Perseus’s head flew into her palm. She grabbed him by the hair and looked at him up close.
“Is it comfortable having your head chopped off?” Ning Shu asked with a smile.
Blood dripped steadily from the clean cut on his neck. Perseus’s expression was one of excruciating pain and utter distortion. He looked at Ning Shu as if he were staring at a demon.
Ning Shu liked that look. If she didn’t do something now, how could she live up to her reputation as an evil priestess?
Since she was already bearing the infamy, she had to do something to earn it.
“Medusa, how dare you!” Athena’s enraged voice boomed over Athens.
Immediately afterward, Athena’s figure appeared, radiating supreme divine pressure as she locked onto Ning Shu.
Athena looked noble and elegant, though her divine aura was heavy now. Dark clouds drifted across the sky, crackling with lightning.
Athena looked at Perseus’s head in Ning Shu’s hand and said coldly, “Release his head.”
“I won’t. I just won’t,” Ning Shu said, swinging Perseus around by his hair, causing blood to spray everywhere.
Athena’s eyebrows shot up in fury. Not only had this woman appeared so brazenly, but she was also acting this arrogant.
“Let him go,” Athena said in a low voice. She was clearly struggling to suppress her rage.
Ning Shu’s face remained cold. Fiery yang energy surged from her palm, scorching Perseus’s head. He let out a pained howl.
She definitely had to finish him off, otherwise he might find a way to be reborn or resurrected.
Gods had many tricks. What was resurrecting one person to them?
He wasn’t even dead after being decapitated, so what else was possible?
Perseus wailed in agony as he was roasted by Ning Shu’s fiery yang energy.
“You…” Athena’s chest heaved. “Do you even know who he is?”
Ning Shu replied with a smile, “I know. He’s your half-brother, Zeus’s bastard.
“That’s why I’m going to kill him.”
She withdrew her fiery yang energy and released her lightning energy, giving Perseus a brutal series of electric shocks.
After the electrocution, Ning Shu used celestial energy to torture him further until Perseus finally gave one last roar of rage and his entire head crumbled into ash.
Ning Shu brushed the dust off her hands. If he could still come back to life after that, she would have nothing left to say.
Athena didn’t even blink at Perseus’s death. He was just a mortal. Even if a god died in front of her, she wouldn’t necessarily care.
What she cared about was Ning Shu’s blasphemy, her attitude, and the fact that she had come to her city-state to provoke her.
“You actually have the gall to run back here? Do you think obtaining a little bit of power from somewhere is enough to resist a deity?” Athena asked coldly.
Ning Shu smiled faintly. “No matter what you say, I was once your priestess. There’s nothing wrong with me coming back for a visit. Besides, I am a citizen of Athens. Is it not okay for me to return to my hometown?”
Athena’s face turned cold. She raised her scepter and struck Ning Shu with a bolt of lightning.
Ning Shu didn’t dodge. Instead, she directly absorbed the lightning energy Athena threw at her. The energy surged into Ning Shu’s internal core and became her own.
Ning Shu didn’t even move a step against Athena’s attack. She said, “I’ll let you try the feeling of being struck by lightning as well.”
A giant dragon shimmering with lightning rose from Ning Shu’s back. After a sky-shaking roar, the dragon charged at Athena.
Athena frowned. She had been shocked when the woman absorbed her lightning earlier, but now the woman was actually able to manifest it.
Athena’s lightning power was inherited from Zeus, the lord of lightning.
Looking at the lightning power Ning Shu controlled, Athena was utterly baffled. The previous Medusa was clearly an ordinary human, a girl with nothing but a beautiful face and no power whatsoever.
The lightning dragon rushed toward Athena. She blocked its attack with her shield and became locked in a struggle with the beast.
Ning Shu stood to the side, while the fiery red bird on her shoulder was chirping away.
The aftershocks of the battle between the goddess and the dragon sent sand and stones flying. The armored guards retreated far away.
Ning Shu’s long hair was blown into a mess by the wind, slapping against her face until she could hardly see the battle.
She casually gathered it up and used a tree branch to pin it in place.
Ning Shu thought she looked quite good. When someone was beautiful, they could look good even if they were wrapped in a window curtain.
Athena used her scepter to disperse the lightning dragon, but just as she caught her breath, the dragon reformed.
This energy was not a living creature; it had no sense of touch, no fatigue, and felt no pain. Even if it was dispersed, it could gather again, never tiring as long as Ning Shu had power in her dantian.
Athena’s eyebrows furrowed tightly. Her expression was incredibly grave. She glanced at Ning Shu, who was standing leisurely nearby. Where on earth did she get such evil power?
Who was the person who gave Medusa this power, and what were they plotting from the shadows?
This Medusa opposed the gods at every turn, showing them contempt and speaking of slaughtering or slaying them. It was sheer rebellion.
Athena suspected that someone wanted to overthrow the rule of the gods, targeting the deities of Mount Olympus. This Medusa was just a scout sent to test the waters.
“Medusa, are you truly Medusa? Or has your heart and soul been eroded by some evil power, leaving your body occupied by a demon?” Athena’s expression was serious as she dispersed the lightning dragon with her scepter. She was truly fed up with the endlessly regenerating beast.
