Chapter 3141: Being Sprayed Full-on With That Milky Liquid
All of the previous good impressions that Ning Shu used to have of Wen Xing had been wiped away.
The gentle, jade-like impression was gone from her memory. All that remained was the image of him being sprayed full-on with that milky liquid.
It only took one thing to destroy a person’s impression of another person.
Wen Xing: …
“You don’t need to be so nervous. That stuff is probably just nutrients, equivalent to human blood. It wouldn’t cause pregnancy,” Wen Xing said.
Ning Shu was unimpressed by his words. She remained expressionless as she said, “Honestly, hearing you say that makes me feel even more disgusted.”
Because of the incident at the cafeteria, the employees were all out of sorts at work. They all felt uneasy and jittery.
Many had seen the creature. It was lunchtime and the cafeteria was crowded with people. Initially, everyone gathered around out of curiosity, but once they saw how dangerous the thing was, they all ran for their lives.
The police received a report and sent someone over, but nobody could figure out what that creature was.
But with so many people insisting they saw it, the police also couldn’t just disregard their report.Since it was in the sewers, the police assigned the sanitation workers to investigate.
Ning Shu thought this was a futile effort.
The creature could move on land and swim like a fish in water. It could move with incredible speed.
Those sanitation workers were just being sent to their doom.
Ning Shu said to the police, “That thing had sharp teeth and tough skin, and it also moved very fast. An ordinary person won’t be able to handle it. You should make sure to send people that are more capable.”
At the very least, they should send police officers armed with guns.
“I agree, that thing is really dangerous,” Wen Xing echoed. And also really disgusting.
The police frowned. To waste resources sending armed officers searching the sewers every day for some unknown creature? The city still needed to function.
And besides, who would be willing to take on such a job?
After the police left, Wen Xing casually remarked, “I rarely ask the police for help when I’m on a task. They’re slow and inflexible. It’s much more convenient to work alone.”
Sometimes, task-takers like them also had to take less-than-honorable roles.
Not everyone was so righteous and selfless, after all.
“I only told them so that in the future, I could say that I’ve already told them. Although it doesn’t really help, it’ll make it harder for them to shift the blame later on,” Ning Shu said with a shrug.
Since they had reported it, if something went wrong, the police would be the ones at fault for not taking their report seriously.
By the time they got off work in the evening, Wen Xing—now dressed in a T-shirt and jeans—was waiting for Ning Shu outside the company.
“Let’s grab something to eat first, then go look for that thing from earlier,” Wen Xing suggested.
Ning Shu shook her head, “I’ll skip food. I’ve already taken a fasting pill.”
“Alright, I don’t need to eat either. I was just worried you might be hungry.” Wen Xing seemed relieved. Indeed, he’d lost all of his appetite after being sprayed by that thing earlier.
He wasn’t hungry at all.
The city was now lit up with neon lights. It’d be a huge undertaking to find that one creature in such a large city.
Especially since the sewer system was an intricate maze. Just thinking about it gave them a headache.
Ning Shu considered activating her tracking system, which would cost 5 merit points, to locate the monster.
Surely it could be tracked, right?
She hadn’t expected that there’d come a day when she would have to track… a sperm.
Just as she was about to activate her tracking system, Wen Xing pulled out three copper coins, shook them a couple of times in his hand, and tossed them to the ground.
He squatted down and studied the coins.
Ning Shu glanced at him sideways. Was Wen Xing a Taoist scammer?
“Let’s head southeast,” Wen Xing said, pocketing the coins.
Ning Shu asked, “How far southeast? Do you know where exactly we’re going?”
“We’ll walk, and I’ll divine as we go. The closer we get, the more accurate the reading will be.”
Wen Xing headed southeast.
Ning Shu followed behind. Once upon a time, she had also dabbled in Taoist arts, but she seriously wasn’t great at divining and fortune-telling.
