Chapter 1240: TRUTH OR DARE (I)

Chapter 1240: TRUTH OR DARE (I)

AFTER their mini-celebration, Luo Wei Tian drove everyone home, except for Luo Ren, who went with Yu Jiao to her place so she could ask her mother for permission to stay the night. When they arrived at the house, Luo Wei Tian told Shen Ji Yun and the others to pick any guestrooms they liked.

It wasn't long before Luo Ren and Yu Jiao showed up. The fact that she came back with him must mean her mother had agreed for her to stay the night. And the bag Luo Ren was now carrying, one he definitely didn't have earlier, probably held Yu Jiao's clothes and toiletries.

Their dinner ended up being a bit late because everyone was still full from their earlier celebration. After they ate, Luo Wei Tian headed to his study to get some work done, leaving the kids to themselves. With Luo Ren keeping an eye on them, he wasn't worried they'd get into any trouble.

What he probably didn't expect was for his eldest to join in the fun instead of keeping the others in line.

After dinner, once everyone had changed into comfortable clothes, Bai Ze suggested they play a game of truth or dare.

Bai Ze expected complaints from Luo Ren or Luo Jin. The first was too serious for games like this, and the second might call it childish. Su Yuqi would absolutely argue with him just for the heck of it. Shen Ji Yun wouldn't object as long as Luo Yan was on board, which Bai Ze was sure he would be, since Luo Yan loved fun as much as he did. Yu Jiao was harder to predict, but considering their interaction so far, she'd probably be too uncomfortable to say no. That left only Luo Ren and Luo Jin to worry about.

But to his surprise, everyone agreed. Bai Ze didn't overthink it, he was just glad they could all play together.

What he didn't know was that his oldest and youngest cousins had their own reasons for saying yes. And, of course, it was connected to the two young women they liked so much. Truth or dare was the perfect chance to ask things they couldn't bring up normally.

Right now, all seven of them were gathered in the entertainment room, sitting in a circle. An empty glass bottle sat in the middle, along with a pitcher of some green liquid and a stack of plastic cups beside it.

"Okay, here's how it will be," Bai Ze began. "The person who spins the bottle asks whoever it points at to pick truth or dare. If they pick dare, the spinner gives them a task. If they pick truth, they answer a question. If they refuse to do the dare or answer the question honestly, they have to drink a cup of my special vegetable blend." He gestured towards the pitcher. "After that, it's their turn to spin the bottle, and we keep going like that."

Everyone seemed fine with this arrangement, since no one voiced their objection.

Bai Ze nodded in satisfaction. "Then who should start spinning the bottle?"

"I think Yan Yan should do it," Shen Ji Yun suggested. "He's the MVP today, after all."

Luo Jin and Su Yuqi both nodded in agreement.

"I'm fine with that," Luo Ren said.

"Me too!" Yu Jiao added.

"Then do the honors, Xiao Yan," Bai Ze said with a grin.

"Well, if everyone's okay with it..." Luo Yan reached out and gave the bottle a spin.

The bottle wobbled as it spun, its glass surface catching the light with each rotation. It slowed gradually, making a faint scraping sound against the floor before coming to a complete stop. The mouth of the bottle pointed squarely at Su Yuqi.

Su Yuqi didn't react much. She just raised an eyebrow, then turned to Luo Yan. "I'll pick dare."

Choosing 'dare' without even being asked was so typical of Su Yuqi that Luo Yan couldn't help but smile.

"Make her do something embarrassing," Bai Ze said, pretending to whisper to Luo Yan even though he sat across from him and knew full well everyone could hear him.

Su Yuqi narrowed her eyes at Bai Ze, then grinned like a cat. "Don't worry, when your turn comes, I'll definitely make you do something embarrassing."

Luo Yan tuned out their bickering, trying to come up with a good dare for Su Yuqi. Then he caught his younger brother staring at her with that longing look, and suddenly, he had the perfect idea.

"Sister Yuqi, I dare you to hold Ah Jin's hand for a full minute."

The moment the words left his mouth, Luo Jin whipped around to stare at him, eyes blown wide in shock.

"Xiao Yan, that doesn't even count as a proper dare!" Bai Ze protested.

"I really hate to say this, but I actually agree with him for once," Su Yuqi said, giving Luo Jin a meaningful glance. "Not that I'm complaining, though."

Without hesitation, she reached over and grabbed Luo Jin's hand, threading their fingers together in one smooth motion.

Luo Jin's entire body locked up the second their hands touched. His palm went instantly sweaty, but he didn't dare pull away. What if she thought he didn't want this? His face burned so hot he could feel his ears turning red, and he stared down at their linked fingers like they might bite him. The rational part of his brain knew it was just a game and it might not mean anything to her. But the rest of him was short-circuiting. He couldn't even look at her without feeling like his heart would jump out of his chest.

Luo Ren watched the scene and thought Luo Yan was an excellent wingman. He sneaked a quick look at Yu Jiao. Maybe his brother could help him out too when the chance came.

The minute dragged on, each second stretching longer than the last. By the time it was over, Luo Jin was convinced it had been the longest sixty seconds of his life. His palm was completely clammy now, and he was certain he'd transferred all that nervous sweat right onto Su Yuqi's hand.
