Chapter 1234: NEW CHAMPIONS
THE arena lights brightened as the emcees, Jiang Xinyi and Lin Haoyu, stepped onto the stage amidst the crowd's cheers. The massive screens overhead displayed highlights from the match—flashes of brilliant teamwork, last-second reversals, and hard-fought battles.
Jiang Xinyi smiled warmly as she lifted her mic. "Let's take a moment to applaud team Celestials for an incredible performance tonight. They pushed every strategy to its limit, kept us on the edge of our seats, and reminded us why they're always a team to watch. That kind of skill and determination deserves recognition."
The audience responded with enthusiastic applause, a wave of appreciation for the losing team's efforts.
As the applause for team Celestials faded, both teams met at the center of the stage to shake hands.
Li Xu Min, ever the good sport, was the first to extend his hand to team Yunyue's captain with a genuine smile. "Congratulations," he said, voice carrying no bitterness. "You earned it."
Shen Ji Yun gave a curt nod. "You all fought well."
Li Xu Min's grin widened. "How about a PvP rematch sometime?"
Shen Ji Yun nodded in agreement that made Li Xu Min smile brightly.
Zhong Hui—standing just behind him—furrowed his brows, obviously not liking the interaction between the two.
Nearby, Song Liuli's lips were pursed in a barely concealed pout. But the moment the cameras swung her way, her expression melted into a flawless, practiced smile. Su Yuqi, catching the shift, arched a brow but said nothing.
Duan Yu turned to Luo Yan and Luo Jin with a wry chuckle. "You two really had us running in circles."
Luo Jin scoffed, only crossing his arms in response.
Luo Yan smirked. "Maybe you're losing your touch."
Meanwhile, Bai Ze grudgingly shook Qiu Ming's hand. "...You're not bad."
Qiu Ming rolled his eyes. "Whatever."
Luo Yan then turned to him and said in an easygoing tone, "We should spar in PvP sometime."
Qiu Ming's eyes widened and quickly shook his head. "No," he said flatly, then immediately ducked behind Duan Yu.
Duan Yu burst out laughing, clapping a hand on Qiu Ming's shoulder as the younger boy scowled.
Lin Haoyu smiled as he watched the teams exchange handshakes, clearly pleased by the good sportsmanship between them. Then he raised his mic, his voice booming across the arena.
"But when all is said and done, only one team can be crowned champion. After an entire season of incredible matches and perfect teamwork, we're proud to declare team Yunyue the winners of this seventh Arcadia Cup!"
The stadium erupted once again with cheers.
As the cheers began to settle, Jiang Xinyi turned toward the stage's entrance with a smile. "Now, let's welcome the President and CEO of Moonlight Media, Mr. Shen Yi Mu, to present the championship trophy to our winners!"
The crowd erupted once more as Shen Yi Mu emerged from backstage. He moved with effortless authority, his tailored black suit accentuating his tall frame. His jet-black hair was neatly combed back, and the subtle gleam of his silver-rimmed glasses caught the stage lights as he stepped forward.
In his hands was the Arcadia Cup—a stunning trophy crafted from flawless crystal, its surface etched with intricate patterns that shimmered under the arena's glow. The cup's center held a silver core shaped like a rising phoenix, its wings outstretched as if in mid-flight, symbolizing victory and rebirth.
Shen Yi Mu stopped before team Yunyue, his sharp gaze sweeping over them before landing on Shen Ji Yun. With a faint, approving smile, he extended the trophy. "Congratulations on your well-earned victory."
Shen Ji Yun accepted the trophy with a respectful nod. "Thank you." After receiving the trophy, he didn't hesitate to give it to Luo Yan. Whispering in a voice only the two of them could hear, "For the MVP of my heart."
A sweet smile crossed Luo Yan's face and accepted the trophy with no qualms.
The audience roared as Luo Yan raised the cup, its crystal facets scattering light across the stage like fractured stars.
And just like that, the seventh season of the Arcadia Cup came to a close. Team Yunyue stood victorious and crowned as the new champions.
***
After the award ceremony, the winners were expected to attend a press conference. With the Arcadia Cup finals being practically a national event, it was no surprise that reporters had been invited to cover it. The session would take place in one of the stadium's private lounges—which was where the staff now guided Luo Yan and the rest of the team.
As they walked, Luo Yan got a message from his father. He, Luo Ren, and Yu Jiao would be waiting in the parking lot. The message told Luo Yan to send a word once they were done with the interviews.
When they entered the lounge, every reporter in the room immediately turned to stare at them. The sudden shift in attention was almost physical—like walking into a room full of predators catching the scent of fresh prey. The staff quickly guided them to the long table at the front, where the five of them took their seats.
From behind the table, Luo Yan studied the crowd. The reporters' eyes gleamed with a hunger that reminded him of hyenas circling a kill—eager, relentless, waiting for the slightest misstep to tear into.
He knew exactly why these reporters looked so eager to start grilling them. The adrenaline from their win was still buzzing through him, and if these people started asking dumb questions now, he'd definitely be pissed.
The staff member signaled that questions could begin, and the first reporter chosen immediately fired off:
"This question is for the captain. Mr. Shen Ji Yun, are you really related to Moonlight Media's president and CEO?"
Luo Yan's fingers twitched against the table, his grip tightening as the question hung in the air. A sharp curse burned at the back of his throat, but he swallowed it just in time. He could practically taste the reporters' hunger for drama, their pens poised like weapons. And it was all directed at Shen Ji Yun.
