Museum of Deadly Beasts

Chapter 633 - Unexpected

Chapter 633: Unexpected

Huang Shi Sanren immediately looked at his feet while Zuo Men turned around. Since psyche attacks appeared to not work on Dopey Bear, it didn’t avert its gaze.

Similarly, Lin Jin kept his eyes on Evil Eye Witch. His composure and fearlessness were impressive.

Zuo Men wanted to speak but Huang Shi Sanren stopped him.

“Relax. There must be a reason behind Taoist Lin’s decision. Think about it, wasn’t he safe just now?” Although Huang Shi Sanren didn’t believe that anyone could withstand Evil Eye Witch’s witchcraft, Lin Jin might have a miraculous solution of his own.

After all, facts speak louder than words. Lin Jin had indeed ‘resolved’ Evil Eye Witch’s spells twice now.

At least, that was what they thought. They were completely oblivious to the fact that Lin Jin had relied on the museum to protect his psyche from her merciless attacks.

Truth be told, Lin Jin was quite nervous too.

After all, Evil Eye Witch’s momentum this time was near unstoppable. Otherwise, the others wouldn’t have reacted this way.

Though, other than nervousness, Lin Jin also felt anticipation.

He wanted to test how far the museum could protect his psyche. Apart from that, when his psyche received the second slash, amidst the pain, Lin Jin discovered how the enemy attacked her prey.

Lin Jin started considering the possibility of replicating her attack.

He had no idea whether or not it would work, but he wanted to give it one last shot. It didn’t hurt to try anyway. What if he manages to pull it off?

Quicker than words, Lin Jin and Evil Eye Witch locked gazes once more.

Immediately, Lin Jin felt himself being trapped inside an endlessly dark space. He couldn’t even feel his body.

“Amazing!” thought Lin Jin. He remembered the male savage immortal calling this spell ‘Soul Arrest’. It was apparent that this spell was specifically designed to destroy the enemy instantly.

It worked by separating the psyche from one’s physical body, hence the term ‘arrest’.

This was a lethal move, and experts can fall prey to this spell if they weren’t careful enough.

Before Lin Jin could even start to panic, a door appeared behind him in this darkness.

It was the metal door of the Visitation Hall, also known as Curator’s door.

Lin Jin took a step back and his psyche was once again in place.

Then, Lin Jin noticed a human silhouette in the darkness. His intuition told him that it was Evil Eye Witch’s psyche. Lin Jin decided to seize the opportunity. Pressing down on the Clear Wind Sword, he borrowed its Sword Intent and sent forth his psyche.

Then, the unexpected happened. The sword beam shot forth like a bolt of thunder, splitting the darkness with a light so powerful that the dark psyche realm was lit up as bright as day.

Lin Jin seemed to have heard the black silhouette scream and gasp but the sound quickly died away as the psyche realm shattered.

Lin Jin regained his senses.

He was still standing where he previously stood, but the pain from before was no longer there. In fact, he was completely fine.

On the other side, Evil Eye Witch stumbled around and almost fell to the ground had her male counterpart not caught her with his quick reflexes.

Silence ensued, and their eyes were as wide as saucers. They were baffled by this sudden turn of events. It should have been Lin Jin who gets hurt from the confrontation, not Evil Eye Witch.

Though, the reality was often absurd.

“He’s a profound immortal, run,” muttered Evil Eye Witch before being knocked out cold.

The savage immortal shuddered when he heard her response.

A profound immortal.

Now that was a real expert. After all, this was no longer the era when profound immortals roamed the land. Besides the bigger immortal sects, profound immortals were an incredibly rare sight nowadays.

Unfettered immortals were even more elusive.

Some claimed that these individuals had ceased to exist a long time ago.

That was why profound immortals were the next scariest thing in this world.

After hearing the words ‘profound immortal’, the savage immortal lifted Evil Eye Witch with his arms, and without another word, he fled the scene.

Divine Palm Qiu Bin hadn’t even digested the information yet but the savage immortal was already gone. Qiu Bin was also a strong expert himself. Although he didn’t believe that he was facing a profound immortal, it was a fact that he had been abandoned by his allies. He was left to fend for himself against multiple enemies, so to continue staying here was irrational.

Qiu Bin fled as well.

Huang Shi Sanren didn’t pursue him as he and Zuo Men had to check on Lin Jin.

Huang Shi Sanren had heard of Evil Eye Witch’s ‘Soul Arrest’ before and knew it was a lethal spell. There would only be one outcome for whoever peered into her eyes when the spell was activated.

Death.

According to certain rumors, Evil Eye Witch had only cast this spell a handful of times. Huang Shi Sanren had personally experienced her using the spell three times.

In all three instances, her opponents were top-rate experts and none of them lived to tell the tale. Then, to everyone’s surprise, Evil Eye Witch failed when she attacked Taoist Lin.

Huang Shi Sanren was most surprised. He simply could not comprehend what was happening. Could it be just as Evil Eye Witch said? Was Taoist Lin actually a profound immortal who was posing as a weakling character?

With this suspicion in mind, Huang Shi Sanren studied Lin Jin. Even at this point, he was at a loss for what to do nor did he know what to say.

Zuo Men was shocked too. After a moment of silence, he asked, “Taoist Lin, a-are you okay?”

Lin Jin smiled.

“I’m fine. I didn’t expect to meet an expert like Evil Eye Witch who’s adept at targeting a person’s psyche. However, she has picked the wrong opponent this time. I may not be a talent, but I was taught a secret method to protect my psyche by my master. I never thought that the technique would finally come in handy today.

A secret psyche protection method?

Huang Shi Sanren and Zuo Men exchanged glances before being hit by an epiphany.

Now, this made sense.

Taoist Lin definitely wasn’t a profound immortal. After all, there only existed a handful of these individuals, most of whom they had already heard of. To put it simply, these people were few and far between.

The chances of Lin Jin being a profound immortal was low, so his explanation sounded much more plausible.

It was like possessing a trump card that worked against spells of this kind. Though, that could only explain how Lin Jin managed to resist Evil Eye Witch’s attacks. How did she get hurt and fall unconscious then?

“Could it be Evil Eye Witch’s own doing?” Zuo Men’s imagination ran wild and he voiced his own theory on the events that transpired.

Huang Shi Sanren listened to his explanation and he went into deep thought before his eyes lit up.

“That might be possible.” Huang Shi Sanren wasn’t making a baseless claim. Many loose immortals had tried researching this terrifying female savage immortal, Evil Eye Witch.

Not only did they research her, but they also researched the spells she used. Her spells were unreasonably strong. However, according to the law of spells, the stronger a spell was, the greater its weakness. Her spell must have backfired severely after she failed to invoke it properly.
