Chapter 577: Banner Master Clear Wind

He may seem suave and elegant, Lin Jin was able to detect a razor-sharp aura beneath that facade, like a sheathed sword. In its sheath, a sword was humble and docile. Once drawn, its intimidating sharpness could never be mistaken.

That being said, Banner Master Clear Wind’s original form might just be a treasure sword.

He was a spirit just like Shu Xiaolou.

Spirits were few and far between, especially ones with such a significant cultivation level, so Lin Jin’s interest was piqued. Since he was a spirit, Beast Deterrence obviously wouldn’t work on him.

Fortunately, the creatures following behind Banner Master Clear Wind were all just lucky monsters who hadn’t inhaled the poison gas.

Lin Jin planned to end this battle quickly.

There was still their cave master after all. According to Lin Jin’s guesstimate, the cave master should be quite strong or he wouldn’t have been able to command seventy-two banner masters.

With this in mind, Lin Jin glanced at Banner Master Clear Wind and his group to say, “I am Curator’s disciple, Lin Jin. I have come on my master’s orders today to capture all of the monsters and spirits of Dark Wind Cave. Once you pledge to serve Curator, you will gain authentic cultivation methods that will put you on the right cultivation path. Please do not resist and accept your fate.”

Lin Jin knew he was just spouting nonsense, but it was necessary at times like this. There was some truth to his statement, as he did intend to capture all the monsters in Dark Wind Cave and control them with the monster-locking pill. Then, he would teach them authentic cultivation methods and even set up a monster’s sect for them.

Then, Lin Jin planned to place Curator at the helm of the sect, which would further enhance his reputation.

Of course, this reputation was just extra. Lin Jin’s main purpose in doing this was to build a monster army. Once the sect was founded, it would attract even more monsters to join their ranks, and they would form a very reliable force.

This was in line with Lin Jin’s plans.

Banner Master Clear Wind looked solemn but he could tell that Lin Jin wasn’t an ordinary human so he would refrain from attacking carelessly. On the other hand, the other monsters behind him were hissing and barking hatefully at Lin Jin.

Lin Jin swept them an intimidating glance.

The monsters were instantly affected.

Two of them were even pressed to the ground by an invisible force. The others managed to brave the passive attack. Although they could prevent themselves from collapsing, they could not attack in such a state.

Only one of them, with his higher cultivation level, could resist the Beast Deterrence’s might. His eyes were filled with apprehension.

“Banner Master Clear Wind, be careful. This human isn’t ordinary,” said one of the monsters.

At the same time, Banner Master Clear Wind went on the offensive.

Immediately, as if a sword had been unsheathed, Sword Energy pierced up into the sky.

“What an amazing blade!”

Lin Jin’s eyes lit up. He dodged it swiftly and a meter-deep trench was carved into the ground where he had once stood.

After avoiding the attack, Lin Jin looked up and mumbled to himself, “The Sword Energy descends from above. What kind of remarkable spell is this?”

Even with his abundant knowledge, Lin Jin couldn’t tell how Clear Wind did it.

Next, a few other Sword Energies came slashing down, and this time, Lin Jin didn’t avoid them.

If he wanted to defeat the enemy and make him surrender, avoiding his attacks would do no good. The greatest blow he could deal to a precious sword was to parry his Sword Energy.

Activating the Five Element Armor, Lin Jin pushed the armor three feet further away from him before stepping toward Banner Master Clear Wind.

“You have a death wish!” Seeing this, Banner Master Clear Wind’s arm transformed into a sword and he thrusted it at Lin Jin from a distance. The next instant, a razor-sharp Sword Energy pierced down from the sky, crashing down on Lin Jin’s Five Element Armor.

Crack! Crack!

The Five Element Armor let out cracking sounds. But that was it. This Five Element Armor Lin Jin had cultivated was the strongest defense skill he found in Daojun’s Hieroglyphic. Despite being a mere beginner, one could not ignore the months he spent researching and cultivating the skill to perfection. In other words, it was impossible for Banner Master Clear Wind to break the barrier.

Banner Master Clear Wind’s expression faltered when he saw this.

His confidence had taken a great blow and all this while, he thought of himself as number one when it came to offense, that even the cave master couldn’t compare to him.

This contributed to Banner Master Clear Wind’s prideful personality. When it came to attacking with Sword Energy, he thought of himself as invincible.

Today, he met a tough match who could take his Sword Energy head-on.

His eyes turned wild and he pushed his blade forward.

Another wave of invisible Sword Energy pierced forward, slicing through the space and arriving before Lin Jin’s face.

This time, the Five Element Armor was almost penetrated, but this armor was still a superior spell. No, to put it more accurately, after taking two of Banner Master Clear Wind’s forceful attacks, Lin Jin had begun to retaliate.

He fired a few silver needles with a flick of his fingers, disrupting Banner Master Clear Wind’s spell. Then, clouds gathered beneath his feet, and with a simple hop, Lin Jin landed gracefully before Banner Master Clear Wind.

The latter was shocked. Before he could even react, Lin Jin had struck him.

Lin Jin used one of the phenomenal skills he learned from Daojun’s Hieroglyphic, the Blazing Sky Palm.

When his palm collided firmly against Clear Wind’s body, flames erupted, forcing Clear Wind to scream in pain. Then, Lin Jin’s palm clamped shut, as if he was grabbing onto something. Clear Wind’s body began to disappear and after the loud roaring flames burned stronger, Banner Master Clear Wind was gone from sight.

A sword fell into Lin Jin’s hands.

It was a four-foot-long sword with a black sheathe and green brass clasps. Its hilt was blue and the entire sheathe was embellished with golden brass. Lin Jin extended a hand to force Clear Wind back inside his sheathe as the latter was still reluctant to surrender.

“It’s better if you just give up.” To subdue Clear Wind, not only had Lin Jin exerted all of his battle skill, but he even had to open the Visitation Hall’s door to suppress Clear Wind’s aura.

With this, Clear Wind finally stopped.

Perhaps he was intimidated by Lin Jin’s strength, or perhaps he was under immense pressure due to the surrounding circumstances, Clear Wind finally gave in to Lin Jin’s wishes.

The process had been all but quiet. When the spirit sword, Clear Wind, was resisting, he unleashed deafening noises and let his Sword Energy overflow. It was all for naught, as they were forcefully subdued. Now that all his effort had gone down the drain, Clear Wind finally settled down.

Lin Jin heaved a sigh of relief. Although a bit of effort had to be invested, the outcome was satisfying.

He tied the sword around his waist, turning it into his personal sword.

When the other monsters saw how easily Lin Jin subdued their Banner Master Clear Wind, they quivered in fear. Although they each thought highly of themselves and possessed fiery tempers, they were no fools.

Even Banner Master Clear Wind who was second only to their cave master in terms of strength was easily defeated. If they decided to fight Lin Jin now, it would be no different from jumping off a cliff.

Staying silent was their only option.

Unfortunately, for Lin Jin, silence was not enough. He wanted unconditional submission from them.

He flicked his wrist.

Several monster-locking pills shot out and the banner masters grabbed them frantically.

“Eat it and heed my orders from now on. Those who don’t eat it will be killed immediately..” Lin Jin could sense a powerful aura coming out of seclusion inside the cave so he spoke in a tone that allowed no rebuttals.
