Being pulled into the vortex, Long Chen was surprised by the immense suction force. Even with his power, he couldn’t resist. This vortex seemed to possess a strange power that stripped a person of their Doyen power. Once they were sucked inside, everyone’s Doyen energy fluctuations vanished.

The experts screamed in terror. Without their Doyen energy, they felt like they had been reduced to mere mortals.

As Long Chen wasn’t a Heavenly Doyen, he didn’t have a strong reaction, but he did feel the terrifying intensity of the suction. His power was being suppressed.

Everything was still within expectations. Long Chen was drawn into the heart of the vortex along with the others. Space suddenly quivered, and a wave of dizziness hit him.

“Will suppression?”

Long Chen recognized it as a form of will suppression. In the face of immense aura, most experts would surrender and lose consciousness. Seeing everyone else lying still, Long Chen played dead.

Seeing that this elder had six heaven vein runes flowing around his wings, Long Chen almost pissed himself. He had actually run into a six-vein Heaven Saint.

Three, six, and nine heaven veins marked significant divisions among Heaven Saints. Just as there was a vast difference between a two-vein and a three-vein Heaven Saint, the gap between a five-vein and a six-vein Heaven Saint was enormous. A six-vein Heaven Saint could easily crush a hundred three-vein Heaven Saints.

Two more elders appeared, and Long Chen cursed under his breath. These two were three-vein Heaven Saints exuding devil qi; three-vein Heaven Saints had actually become casual workers here.

Long Chen and the Heavenly Chosens were unceremoniously tossed into a cart like pieces of meat. The Heavenly Chosens, with their souls completely suppressed, were unable to sense their surroundings. The cart itself was made from crude, strange wooden boards and featured two wheels. The wheels were clearly crafted by the human race, but the wooden boards were the work of devil creatures. The cart’s design was primitive and rough, reflecting the devil creatures’ barbaric craftsmanship.

The wooden boards were already stained with blood of various races. The pungent smell almost made Long Chen throw up.

The cart moved through the depths of the mountain range. Once they escaped the sight of the six-vein Heaven Saint, Long Chen finally sighed with relief.

Suddenly, the devil creature pulling the carriage at the front spoke up, filled with resentment and hatred.

“How unfair. The rest of them are hunting, but we’re stuck doing this kind of work!”

“Shut up! We’re all slaves of the Heaven Devils! We have to listen to their arrangements!” whispered the other elder.

“But every person is only supposed to watch over the Devil Spirit Altar once! Why are we forced to watch it twice in a row?! They’re clearly targeting us!”

“The higher-ups must have their own thoughts!”

“What thoughts?! It’s just because we’re low-grade Mortal Devils who have to devour humans to sharpen our minds! They’re looking down on us! They don’t care about our feelings and just assign us the most worthless work,” said the elder at the front through gritted teeth.

Hearing this, Long Chen trembled. He suddenly recalled that the six-vein Heaven Saint devil creature’s aura was fundamentally different. Due to how nervous he had been, he hadn’t taken note of it. Mortal Devils, on the other hand, were the lowest tier. They only gained self-awareness by devouring humans and other races, and their intelligence remained limited—comparable to that of a seven or eight-year-old child.

The six-vein Heaven Saint who had assigned them this task was an Earth Devil. Earth Devils were born with their own intelligence and were very different from Mortal Devils. They possessed ancestral runes that gave them natural dominance over weaker devil creatures, allowing them to control and command them.

If normal devil creatures were mindless slaves, the ones evolving into Mortal Devils would be the captains of the slaves. Earth Devils utilized these captains to lead and manage the other devil creatures.

After they became Mortal Devils, their desires only intensified. They wanted to devour more humans to strengthen themselves. However, it seemed that these two had missed out on this chance for two consecutive openings of the Heavenly Flame Devil Domain.

Suddenly, the cart came to a stop, causing the elder at the back to ask, “What are you doing?”

“Why don’t we devour these corpses ourselves and escape?” suggested the elder at the front.

The elder at the front turned back and looked at Long Chen, revealing a set of sinister white teeth. Long Chen’s heart sank.
