Chapter 746: The Shadow Star

Chapter 746: The Shadow Star

Seeing the Water Spirit rush out of the room, clearly embarrassed, Lucien smiles. Each interaction with her is incredibly pleasant in a new way for him.

Yet, this is not the time for enjoyment, not when most of his sisters are growing anxious to reunite with their mothers in the Shadow Star.

So Lucien turns to his girls. "Everyone ready?"

All his wives affirm; some of them have just brought their families and people to the Blue Star, but they will have time to help them settle better later because right now they want to assist Lucien and his sisters.

Nea also nods. "I’ve already sent messengers to warn the other Stars about the secret alliance’s invasion, so I’m ready to go with you."

"I’ll take care of everything until you return." Mira approaches Lucien and kisses him before smiling warmly at Nea.

"Thank you, my love," Lucien thanks Mira before leaving her and walking towards the portal at the center of the room.

"It’s ready," Daisy reports to him.

She has been working very hard in the last few days to create such portals between worlds quickly. It’s only possible with the help of the Sins and high-quality resources provided from the Blue Star.

Lucien plans to reward her greatly as soon as they get the opportunity, but now is the time to leave the Blue Star again.

He takes all the girls with soul contracts into the Purple World to ease the portal’s burden, making the journey much quicker, except for Nea, whom Lucien wants by his side during the trip.

He’s eager to learn more about the Shadow Star, but this action clearly leaves the other girls jealous, especially Saria.

The Mermaid Princess is so happy to be able to travel with the group and assist Lucien that she doesn’t mind that their relationship isn’t progressing faster.

However, she’s also determined to make it clear that she’s in love with him and doesn’t want to receive less attention than his other wives.

Thus, Saira stays by Lucien’s side and holds his hand as the group enters the portal and encounters the darkness of the interworld.

Inside it, Lucien communicates mentally with Nea. "What can you tell me about the Shadow Star? Have you been there many times?"

"Just a few times," Nea responds. "Ramla’s mother married Yaokv, so I would visit, but it was always a quick trip and I never saw much of that world."

Lucien can sense Nea’s sadness in her tone, and he also knows that her old friend has passed away.

He doesn’t need to say he’s sorry because Nea can feel his feelings both due to her ability and the Soul Contract.

"She had a good life," Nea comments. "And I wish I had gone to her funeral, but... Tensions between Nagas and Mermaids were rising, and Yakov was also having troubles in the Shadow Star..."

"What kind of troubles?" Lucien asks.

"Some sort of rivalry with his sister over the Dark Elves’ crown," Nea explains. "We were never very connected to his people, not as we were to the Foxes of the Brown Star..."

Nea clearly regrets not having invested more in the relationship between the Stars. "I’m glad you appeared, and now we’re heading there; I think you can unite our peoples as it was thousands of years ago."

Lucien feels the weight of such responsibility on his shoulders; but even if it was planned by someone long before he was born, he still wants to help those people, which also makes him more powerful.

"I’ll do my best," he says earnestly.

"You already are," Nea responds lovingly.

Due to the proximity of the Seven Stars, Lucien and his girls quickly traverse the void between worlds and arrive at the Shadow Star. The portal opens in the sky, and everyone exits it safely.

Upon arriving in the new world, the first thing Lucien notices is that the Shadow Star, as its name suggests, is quite dark.

But it’s not the darkness of a moonless night; in fact, Lucien can see a bright sun above, but its light seems dimmed upon colliding with what appear to be tiny black particles in the air.

These particles render the entire environment shadowy, but for Lucien and most of his girls, this atmosphere is strangely comfortable.

Lucien also notices that the fauna and flora of the Shadow Star don’t seem to lack strong light as he can see forests all around, teeming with animals and beautiful plants.

Of course, most of these animals and plants have a dark touch as well, such as animals with dark fur and even the leaves of trees being in dark and grey hues.

Yet, again, Lucien finds this view incredibly beautiful, in a special way.

"Incredible!" Saria exclaims while Lucien’s sisters think the same. "This place is really beautiful, despite this dark mana in the air being a bit strange..."

As a Mermaid, Saria and Nea have a natural aversion to dark mana, but the energy in the air is low and causes no more than a slight discomfort to them. The lack of sea and water energy nearby also doesn’t make them feel quite at home.

Lucien holds Saria’s hand and sends waves of life and demonic energy to her, making her feel much better.

The cute Mermaid Princess blushes as she can’t help but feel excited by Lucien’s energy.

Nea laughs at her reaction, but Lucien’s sisters and the Sins are more focused on analyzing their surroundings.

"It looks like we’ve landed in the middle of nowhere..." Eve comments, seeing no city nearby.

Lucien opens the Purple World portal to bring the other girls out and quickly starts using his vision skill along with Maggie to analyze everything around them as far as possible.

But before they find anything, Wrath does, not with her eyes but with her magical sense.

"A battle!" She exclaims, pointing in one direction. "I can feel strong emotions of anger and violence in that direction, it has to be a big battle."

Lucien focuses his vision ability in that direction and spots the large battle that Wrath described.

"It’s a city," he reports. "It’s under siege and there are thousands of soldiers, they are..."

He is surprised to see the appearance of these soldiers as most of them are women wearing minimal armor, probably for agility advantage.

What’s most striking is the appearance of these people; they are all slender and have dark skin, but that tone seems a mix of dark grey and the shiny dark brown of Neola’s skin.

They have a variety of hair colors, but those with light grey hair have such an incredible contrast with their dark skins, making their appearances quite exotic.

And just like the light Elves like Ghilanna and Ghalenna, the Dark Elves also have pointed ears and sharp eyes.

"They are what?" Donna asks.

"Very agile," Lucien quickly responds.

"What are we going to do?" Eve asks next.

"Intervene, of course," he says determinedly. "No matter the reason for this battle, their people need to unite or everyone may fall when the Gods and Dragons attack."

The girls agree, and Nea smiles at Lucien. "Then let’s intervene."
