Chapter 4758: Inquiry
With his hands behind his back, Gu Mo’s voice was indifferent but deep. Although the spirit energy contained within it didn’t sound particularly loud, it carried clearly, reaching the ears of the cultivators observing from a distance.
“We, the Phoenix Guards, are here on our Master’s orders to guard this place. Anyone who crosses the line drawn by us will be considered an enemy of our Master, and we will not show mercy to our enemies.”
He glanced at the three cultivators kneeling on the ground and then ordered the Phoenix Guards beside him, “Destroy their cultivation and expel them from the border to fend for themselves! If anyone else crosses the border and tries to enter the East Sea Spirit Realm, kill them on the spot once they are caught!”
“Yes!” The Phoenix Guards replied respectfully, then proceeded to destroy the three cultivators’ cultivation and throw them outside the marked border.
With their cultivation destroyed, the three let out piercing screams that sent a chilling sensation down the spines of the distant cultivators. As cultivators, with their very foundation destroyed, they likely wouldn’t live much longer. After all, individuals who had cultivated to that level were already quite old, and once stripped of their power, they naturally had no means of survival.
“What do you think is in the bottom of the East Sea that is worth them guarding it so fiercely?” one cultivator whispered.
“There are no immortal treasures in the sea, yet they refuse to let anyone enter. The more secretive they are, the more it arouses our curiosity. However, you’ve seen the fate of those who were caught. Almost none of them survived.”
“I really want to know what’s in the sea.”
The cultivators murmured amongst themselves, but no matter how curious they were, they had no way of knowing what the Phoenix Guards were truly protecting.
Just then, several beams of light descended from the sky, landing on the sandy shore directly in front of Gu Mo. Gu Mo looked at the newly arrived group. There were three old men, a woman, and a middle-aged man dressed in an elaborate robe. All of them exuded immense power, but the three old men and the woman positioned themselves behind the middle-aged man, who appeared to be their master.
“Are you Gu Mo, one of the Eight Phoenix Guards?” The middle-aged man in the brocade robe smiled, looking at Gu Mo, and nodded. “As expected, the Ghost Doctor has no weak soldiers. I didn’t expect someone so young to have such cultivation.”
“Who are you? What are you doing here?” Gu Mo asked, his gaze fixed intently on the other party.
The middle-aged man waved his sleeve, instantly creating a soundproof barrier around them. Then he said, “I am Nancheng Monarch. I am here to ask you something.” He shifted his gaze from Gu Mo to the East Sea and asked, “Are you guarding this place because the Green Dragon is in the East Sea?”
Upon hearing this, Gu Mo’s eyes flashed, and he briefly glanced at the ruler. He knew that Hell’s Lord had disappeared after undergoing tribulation, and that the heavens and earth under his control had experienced tremendous upheaval. Others might not know the specifics, but the monarchs of the various realms were more or less aware.
Additionally, there had been recent abnormalities in the East Sea, and they had been ordered to guard this place. Given their intelligence, it wasn’t difficult for these rulers to guess what was happening. Therefore, Gu Mo did not hide anything and stated, “That’s right, Hell’s Lord is in this spirit realm, so my lord ordered us to guard this place.”
His Master had instructed him long ago that if any monarchs inquired about this matter, he should tell them the truth. She did not want those monarchs to disturb Hell’s Lord’s cultivation out of mere curiosity.
Hearing Gu Mo’s direct confirmation, Nancheng Monarch was slightly surprised. He had thought that even if he personally questioned Gu Mo, he probably wouldn’t reveal such sensitive information, but he did not expect…..
