Walker Of The Worlds

Chapter 3752: Holy Chrysalis World

Chapter 3752: Holy Chrysalis World

The Stellar Moon Moth was a sacred beast for the people of this world.

Legend claimed that long ago its birth had changed the entire world. Before its appearance the people here supposedly knew nothing of cultivation. Then the moth emerged and its birth released vast energy across the world.

People sensed Qi and cultivation began.

The world transformed!

Whether the story was entirely true or not... Lin Mu could not tell. But looking around... The people here certainly believed it. Images of moth wings decorated buildings. Chrysalis symbols appeared on banners.

Even some clothing carried the motif.

Lin Mu walked quietly through the streets.

The city felt ordinary.

Too ordinary.

Yet he remained alert.

This was the beginning.

Soon he would discard this identity too.

Soon he would become someone else entirely.

He touched his face unconsciously.

Absolute Body Control Art.

Blood Tinting.

Skin Sculpting.

Flesh Molding.

Bone Shifting.

The techniques waited.

The new identity waited.

The Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect waited.

And somewhere far away... A hidden vault slept, along with the final ring.

Lin Mu took a breath.

Then continued walking deeper into One River City.

The first step of infiltration had begun and he had to find a place to stay. A few hours passed since he had arrived.

The city had begun to quiet down.

The markets were closing, the street vendors were packing their wares and lanterns had started to appear one by one across the roads. One River City looked different at night. The heat of the day faded while the river reflected the lights, turning into a long ribbon of gold flowing through the city.

Lin Mu moved away from the crowded districts and entered one of the quieter areas near the outer edge of the city.

The houses here were sparse and separated by groves of trees. Small patches of farmland could be seen in between while the sounds of the city became distant. Only after confirming no one was nearby did Lin Mu stop.

With a wave of his hand, two streaks of light emerged.

Xiao Yin and Xiao Yang appeared beside him.

The twins immediately coiled around his shoulders before slipping down onto the ground.

Their bodies had become larger than before after all these years, though they still preferred keeping themselves small. Their scales reflected faint silver and black hues beneath the moonlight while their eyes watched the surroundings curiously.

Lin Mu crouched down.

"I need your help." He spoke quietly.

The twins tilted their heads.

Ashy remained deep in cultivation and still had not emerged. Little Shrubby could certainly help too, but in his cat form the little beast attracted attention everywhere he went. People always wanted to pet him or carry him.

The twins were different.

They could hide, suppress their aura and move unnoticed. Few people would even realize they had passed by.

Lin Mu explained the situation.

He needed information.

An identity.

Someone suitable.

Someone whose existence could become his future disguise.

The twins listened quietly.

"Look around," Lin Mu said. "Missing people. Families that lost someone. Wanderers. Talented youths. Anything unusual."

The twins nodded.

Xiao Yin flicked her tongue.

Xiao Yang rubbed against Lin Mu once before both disappeared into the darkness.

Lin Mu could barely sense them after a few breaths.

Seeing that, he nodded inwardly.

The twins were perfect for this.

After that Lin Mu returned to the city and found an inn.

It stood near the central district and overlooked the river. The building had three floors and was busy enough that no one paid him special attention.

He rented a room and immediately began moving around again.

Tea houses.

Taverns.

Markets.

Wine shops.

He wandered through them all.

At first he searched for both identities and Elder He Jian simultaneously, though the former quickly proved difficult. Finding a suitable identity was not easy. He needed someone believable.

Someone matching his future role and someone whose background could withstand investigation.

The more Lin Mu thought about it, the more complicated it became.

Thankfully Elder He Jian proved easier.

Half a day later, Lin Mu sat inside another tavern.

This one was smaller.

The customers were mostly merchants and local travelers.

He had already begun speaking with several men nearby and his acting lessons were finally showing results.

The conversations flowed naturally.

First weather.

Then prices.

Then local news.

Eventually the topic drifted toward cultivation.

One of the men mentioned a recruiting elder from a great sect.

Lin Mu’s eyes sharpened.

He immediately called for another round of drinks that the men happily accepted. After all, wine loosened tongues, especially cheap wine. Soon enough they began talking freely. Apparently the elder had been seen in Beech Edge City.

Lin Mu already knew the name.

It matched Lady Kang’s information.

The elder had moved north.

One River City lay northeast from there.

Not directly on the route, though close enough that many roads intersected.

The men talked enthusiastically.

Apparently the elder traveled slowly. He stopped at every village and town, stayed one day and helped where he could before moving again.

"He killed a mountain bandit group near the western ring road last month," one man said while drinking.

"Forty people."

"Just like that."

Another nodded.

"I heard he also cleared beast nests for villagers."

"He even fixed irrigation channels somewhere."

Lin Mu listened carefully.

The image forming in his mind differed from what he expected.

The elder sounded less like a powerful immortal and more like a wandering benefactor.

"He’s been traveling nearly a year already," another man added.

"Covered almost a quarter of the continent."

Lin Mu reviewed the map mentally.

If the elder truly stopped at every settlement and accounted for wild areas in between...

Then yes.

He might reach One River City in one or two months.

The timeline matched.

Though one thing puzzled Lin Mu.

The information from Lady Kang said Elder He Jian had already accepted two disciples.

Yet the local stories suggested otherwise.

No one mentioned disciples.

No one had seen any.
