Chapter 2603: The Solution to Saving Her

Chapter 2603: The Solution to Saving Her

Xie Daoyun wiped away Ji Xiaoxi’s sweat before looking at the celestial palace. “I wonder how big brother Zu is faring.”

“He and Miss Chang’e must be cherishing their final moments together.” The Goddess of Wu Mountain let out a melancholy sigh as she thought about Chang’e’s plight, and by extension, her relationship with Zu An as well.

In a way, I'm in the same position as her.

Xie Daoyun sighed as well. “I hope their last moments together are happy.”

Just a moment ago, she'd been feeling impatient about having to wait a year, but the realization that Zu An and Mermaid Queen only had a day with each other made her feel sorry for them.

“I wonder what they're doing.” Ji Xiaoxi continued grinding the medicine while looking at the sky with curious eyes.

...

The Mermaid Queen felt as if she was being battered by a heavy storm.

As a member of the Ocean races, she was no stranger to storms. She'd even enjoyed diving into storms and challenging rapid tides in her younger years. No matter how intense the storm was, she could always conquer it with ease.

It was only now that she realized she had gotten ahead of herself. It turned out that there were storms in the world that were beyond her means to handle. She felt like a lone leaf floating amid choppy waters, at risk of drowning at any moment.

Thinking back on how she'd maneuvered through rapid currents back then, she tried her best to relax her body as much as possible and move along with the storm instead of opposing it.

Fortunately, heaven seemed to have detected her fear, and the wild storm died down. The sun emerged through the clouds, and a refreshing drizzle ensued. Basking under the warm sunlight felt exceptionally comfortable.

Unable to curb her emotions anymore, she tightly embraced her lover and bit his ear. “I want a child...”

Those words were as good as a war horn on the battlefield, especially when coming from a top-tier beauty. Which man could resist such a passionate confession from a woman like her?

The swaying red lanterns outside the Frost Palace seemed to say it all. The withered tree in the courtyard suddenly sprouted to life. Green leaves grew from its barren branches, and beautiful flowers blossomed. The sweet fragrance of osmanthus flowers drifted through the Frost Palace, as if reflecting the cloying sentiments between the newlyweds.

...

Some time passed. The Mermaid Queen lay on Zu An’s chest with bright-red cheeks. She reflexively twirled her hair against his chest as she said, “Hubby, you seem unhappy.”

“Ah? Do I?” Zu An was taken aback. He hadn’t expected her to be so sharp as to sense that.

“Yes, something seems to be on your mind. Are you worried about me?” the Mermaid Queen asked as she adjusted into a more comfortable position in his arms.

Zu An didn’t know how to answer that question.

The Mermaid Queen smiled. “You don’t need to feel so conflicted. I know I can’t leave this place. After being able to spend this night with you, I have no other regrets. Who knows? I might even have your child now. If so, I'll have someone to accompany me here.”

She suddenly stiffened up and hurriedly corrected herself. “No, that would be too selfish. It would be unfair to keep our child here with me.”

Zu An held her even more tightly. “My wife, I’ll rescue you from here.”

The Mermaid Queen chuckled. “Hubby, you don’t need to feel pressured. I’ll be here anyway. You can visit me whenever you miss me.”

Zu An felt a sharp pain in his chest. They had to be at least more than ten thousand years away from the era he lived in. She would be all alone in the meantime.

“I’ll stay here with you,” he suddenly said. It would be too cruel to leave her here alone.

The Mermaid Queen was taken aback before bursting into laughter. She was laughing out of joy, though; she was so happy that tears flowed uncontrollably from her eyes. She pressed her cheek against Zu An's chest and said, “Hubby, I’m happy to hear those words. It makes me happy to know that you've thought about that. But I can't be that selfish. You're shouldering too many responsibilities, and there are many things you need to do. I can’t keep you here with me.”

Zu An opened his mouth. He usually had a glib tongue, yet his throat suddenly felt so dry.

“Don’t worry. I’ll wait. I’ll wait till the day you come for me, no matter how long it takes.” The Mermaid Queen suddenly straightened her posture. A lock of her hair fell on his cheek. “Hubby, let’s not discuss such unhappy things. Let’s talk about something more light-hearted. Why don’t you tell me about your experiences before our meeting? I want to learn more about you.”

Zu An wrapped his arms around her tightly and shared his history with her.

A day could sometimes be so long, yet it could also be so short.

The Mermaid Queen nudged Zu An. “Hubby, it’s almost time.”

She'd learned about the warp portal from what Zu An shared with her. She tried her best to maintain a smile, but her eyes couldn’t help but tear up. The thought of separating from Zu An filled her with misery.

Zu An suddenly thought about something and summoned Mo Xi. The Mermaid Queen was startled by the sudden appearance of a curvaceous woman dressed in skimpy clothes.

“She’s Mo Xi...” Zu An roughly shared Mo Xi’s background. “Her ability, ‘Farewell, Nanchao’, allows her to sever any contract in the world. Your relationship with the Frost Palace can be considered a contract, but the problem is that she can only sever contracts that are of her level.”

The Mermaid Queen was disappointed. The lady before her could only be considered a slightly stronger human; it was unlikely that Mo Xi could grow to her level anytime soon.

Zu An had also figured as much. The gap between the two ladies was so huge that it was unlikely that Mo Xi could catch up with the ascended Mermaid Queen even if she was given years to cultivate.

All of a sudden, however, an idea popped into his head. He asked Mo Xi if she could stay and cultivate with the Mermaid Queen. This would give her plenty of time to grow. This was an era rich with natural ki, and the countless powerful celestials and shamans meant that there could be fortuitous encounters at every corner. Staying here could greatly accelerate Mo Xi’s growth.

Mo Xi looked away in response, but that lifted Zu An’s mood. Judging from her response, he could tell that it was possible; it was just that she was reluctant to do so.

“What do I have to do to convince you? Do you want more Ki Fruits?” Zu An had accumulated 3,039,680 Rage points thus far, so he could redeem a lot of Ki Fruits.

Mo Xi shook her head. Zu An communed with her soul and sensed her intention, but that only made him frown in bewilderment. What she wanted wasn’t Ki Fruits, but something else, and it was an item that he could have never imagined.

She wanted a costume from his Rage System’s shop, one that provided no benefits whatsoever. It was the costume that had startled Zu An back then—the bikini!
