The Dawn of the New World

Chapter 39 - Trouble In The Village Continued

"Eh?" The soldier holding the stick turned around to see what happened and all he could see was a pair of bright green eyes staring back at him.

"Who the fu-" before he could finish his query, a slashing sound was heard and the his head fell to the ground.

Silence. For the next few seconds, it was dead silent.

"What?!!"

"How dare you!" Shouted the fat envoy.

"Who the hell are you?" there was a sudden commotion among the soldiers and they all took out their weapons while shouting, surrounding Hao Xuan.

From the boy's point of view, just as he was about to get hit, the soldiers head flew off and his body fell to the ground. Behind him was a tall man with a red skull mask on his face and green eyes staring at him with a little smile.

"You are a soldier of the Mei kingdom?" Hao Xuan turned around asked the guard with a straight face. He was so angry that instead of erupting, he became eerily calm.

"What business is that of yours? For killing a soldier of the envoy, you are hereby sentenced to death!" instead of answering, the guard shouted in return.

"Kill him! Rip his arms and legs and feed them to the beasts!" shouted the fat envoy from the back once more.

"I will give you one last chance. Kneel down and slit your throats and we can consider this matter finished," Hao Xuan spoke once again calmly looking at the guards. Ever since he started cultivating Wrath of Deimos, his personality became quite ruthless.

"Go!" shouted the guard and six of the remaining ten soldiers attacked all at once.

"Tsk tsk," Hao Xuan shook his head and sighed. He lifted his foot and vanished from the soldier's view, appearing right behind them. Without taking out his weapon he activated Infernal Rapture which was cultivated till level two now and made a claw and pierced straight into the two soldiers back, hitting their spine.

"Where did he go?!?!" screamed the soldiers and by the time they started looking around, Hao Xuan had already appeared behind the other two and did the same to them.

"Back up! Regroup!" shouted the guard after seeing how four of the soldiers died just like that and moved closer to the carriage.

The remaining two moved back while looking at Hao Xuan with eyes wide open as if looking at a ghost.

"Just who are you? What do you want from us? This is Mei kingdoms official business!" the guard lied through his teeth. He was sweating like a pig. Even though he had a clear line of sight to the fight but he still couldn't see how Hao Xuan moved around. To him, it just looked like he teleported from one place to another with black lighting coiling around his arms.

"Why did you take their livestock? And the women? What gave you the right? You, a soldier of Mei kingdom, would lower yourself enough to pull this kind of shit for a foreigner? Do you have no shame?" asked Hao Xuan as he slowly started walking towards them. Infernal Rapture was still active and black lightning could be seen around his fists, making him look like a demon.

"Stop! Stop or we will kill them!" shouted the envoy, waking the soldiers from their daze. They realized that they still had the women with them and picked them up and put their swords up to their necks.

"Let us go. We have no trouble with you. We will just leave right now and you don't have to see our faces ever again. We will let the women go when we are a few miles away from here," said the guard trying to reason with Hao Xuan.

"No! Mama!" shouted the little boy when he heard the guard.

A hundred meters away from them in the tree line, the entire 100 legionaries were now looking at the scene. They were all ready to attack and it would only take them a few seconds to cover the distance.

"Is that him? Our captain?" asked Mason with a frown, holding on to a katana.

"Your guess is as good as mine. Can't be sure until we see his identity token," replied Lt. Kuo while looking at Hao Xuan. All he knew was that their captain was the Ninth leader and only joined a few months ago.

"I didn't see him arrive. He is really fast but if he attacks them from that distance, those women are dead," said Luke in a hushed voice.

"Lieutenant?" asked Aria while looking at Kuo, as did everybody else. He was the one in charge until Ninth got there.

"Alright, divide into four groups, two from the left, one from the back and one from the right. You four, with me," he ordered and they all started moving without making a single sound.

Back in the village, Hao Xuan was staring at them.

"How do I know you will let them go?" he asked while looking at the guard and then the envoy.

"You don't, but you don't have a choice," said the envoy before the guard could reply.

"Oh? But I do have a choice," Hao Xuan said with a smile looking at the guard. Black lightning covered his legs and he lifted his foot.

"Oh shi-" the guard's eyes constricted and before he could even finish a single sentence, thunder fell.

*BOOOOOOOOOOM*

As if the sky broke apart, everyone within a fifty-meter radius lost their hearing.

The legionaries that were flanking them also stopped in their tracks and looked at the soldiers with mouths agape.

Hao Xuan literally ran straight into the guard, and at that speed, as soon as he came into contact with Hao Xuan his entire body exploded into bloody fumes.

The other soldier's bodies went limp from the loud bang as they lost motor control. Their swords fell onto the ground and they on their knees. It was almost like a concussion grenade going off three feet from you.

The fat envoy was on his ass, sweating through his clothes, speechless.

"What....the....hell..?" spoke up Mason slowly who was still about eighty meters away along with the others. They were all staring in disbelief and had no idea what had just transpired. Hao Xuan disappeared from his original spot and where the guard was, now only stood a mass of blood red smoke.

The bloody fog slowly dissipated with a gust of wind and the soldiers, the villagers, the legionaries, and the women looked at the figure that slowly came into view.

Hao Xuan stood straight like a spear, looking down at the soldiers. He circulated the Qi from his first meridian and a faint pressure appeared on everyone in the vicinity.

"Go," he ordered to the women who were just sitting there blankly. Their bodies moved on their own and they slowly got up and walked back to the other villagers.

Hao Xuan looked at the remaining six soldiers and the envoy, thinking what would be a good punishment for them.

"You cant! I carry the royal decree from the kingdom of Shia! I am a guest of your kingdom, you must protect me," the envoy screamed at the top of his voice looking at Hao Xuan's eyes. He knew if nothing was done then he would die here.

"Don't wanna," Hao Xuan replied while shaking his head slightly.

"Eh? What do you mean? You HAVE to! Otherwise it could start a war!" envoy screamed, getting desperate.

"Nope, but I am going to kill you very slowly now, so there's that," Hao Xuan said once more and started walking towards him. The soldiers were still sitting there staring at Hao Xuan.

"You!! Fine. You made me do this," the envoy sighed and finally took out a talisman from his inner pocket and broke it in two.

Suddenly a several meter tall face appeared above the fat man, looking down at Hao Xuan.

"Stop! I know what has happened here. I am the King of Shia. Everything that my envoy has done will be taken care off by me personally."

"You have done good soldier of Mei! I will pass on tales of your bravery to the higher-ups and get you appropriately compensated for all of your trouble," the face said looking at Hao Xuan as if passing a judgment.

Hao Xuan thought about it for a second, if this fatass was let go today he would probably never stop and continue pulling the same stunts in other places, so there was no way he could let him go.

"I don't think so," Hao Xuan shook his head for the third time.

"What?! Boy, just because you killed a few mortals, do not let it get your head. I am still strong enough to kill you like this," the face said as it got closer to Hao Xuan.

"Lieutenant! We have to help!" shouted Aria. If that really was their new captain then he would die before they could even officially meet him.

"Mhmm. You're right, everyone regroup," he spoke into a medallion on his chest. It had a short-range communication formation on it and could be used as a radio.

"Roger!" said the other three team leaders.

While they were busy thinking of a way to save Hao Xuan, he was looking at the face in the sky with a frown.

"I think its better if you just fucked off right now old man, before things get out of hand. Your envoy will die here today, and quite painfully, nothing you can do to stop that" Hao Xuan spoke up once again.

When the face heard him it broke into a loud laughter.

"Hahaha, who the hell do you think are? A mere soldier, if even that, dares talk back to a king? Rejoice, I'll help you reincarnate today," the face spoke and an overwhelming pressure descended on everyone present. That man had profound realm cultivation at the minimum since he proclaimed to be a king.

Hao Xuan finally turned serious. He had pushed the man too far.

"You know, I have one of those too," Hao Xuan sighed and took out his own identity medallion, it was blood red in color with the number 'Ninth' on it. Every member of the Military got one and it also had several different functions.

As soon as the medallion was out in the open it glowed brightly for a second and then went back to normal.

"Haha, is that it?" said the face once again, looking at him as if looking at an ant. But just then the medallion suddenly floated off of Hao Xuan's hand and went straight up in the air, even higher than the face. Everyone's eyes followed the medallion.

At the height of about ten meters, it stopped and a sound like that of a cloth being ripped came from it.

*Riiiiiiip*

The very fabric of space tore apart and an eye appeared, completely red in color. The face in the air suddenly felt a huge pressure fall on it.

"Wha-" before he could finish, another sound came.

*Riiiiiip*

And a second eye opened up right next to it, looking straight at the face.

"Your Majesty, I-"

*RIIIIIIIP*

And the third eye appeared above the other two.

"Impo- The Red Legion?!!?" screamed the face which was now so low that it touched the ground underneath.

The envoy who was ecstatic a few seconds ago was now sitting there completely stupefied.

*RIIIIIIIIIIIP*

The fourth red eye opened up. Two pairs, one above the other. The so-called "king's" face was now half buried in the ground. He was absolutely terrified. There was only one man in the entire kingdom like that.

The Great Demon of Mei, the Four Eyed beast who was even older than the 'kings' own grandfather. The leader of Red Legion, one of the Six beings that absolutely no one in the surrounding hundreds of kingdoms would want to make an enemy off.

This was the Great General Li Jing's symbol!
