Chapter 3882: A Request To Make
Wisfreya tried to move, but she was the one locked in place at the moment. She couldn’t understand what was happening. It was as if some kind of power she didn’t know had control over all her nerves.
Well, it was just the difference in cultivation, to be more precise. Rean had a tiny bit of Light Element connected to his Divine Energy, making that possible. He would never be able to play that against someone with higher cultivation.
Outside, in the location where the Verjansy Country was changing Wisfraya’s stream feed, the few experts aware of what they were doing opened their eyes wide.
"What the hell?!"
"How did they do that?!"
"That’s not good!"
Then, they all turned to a man on the back. "Senior Fliory, what do we do? Do we teleport her out?"
Friory had a dark expression. No one in that place was supposed to be a match for Wisfreya, and for the sake of hiding her powers, they were feeding a fake live stream of the events in that space. Now, the twins did something even more unbelievable than Wisfreya did. Even worse, it was obvious they had her in the palm of their hands. Of course, Rean and Roan assumed different appearances, so they didn’t look like twins at all.
Back inside the Labyrinth, Rean began to speak. "Before you get the wrong idea, it is not that we are stronger than you. In fact, had we not prepared ahead of time, you would have killed us with ease. After all, we are both simple Nascent Soul Realm cultivators, while you are a Saint Peak Stage. We are simply not your match."
Lies... but the guys from Verjansy Country wouldn’t be able to check it. All they could see was that Rean and Roan indeed only looked to be Nascent Soul Realm experts. Now, they also heard Rean’s words, and they got even more puzzled. Prepared? What did they prepare? How come they didn’t notice? But then again, they must have done something. Just like Rean ’said,’ the twins shouldn’t be stronger than Wisfreya at all.
Having said his little, tiny lie, Rean continued. "Of course, we won’t tell you what we did. We aren’t idiots."
Wisfreya calmed down, nodding slightly. She was only able to move her head at the moment. "Very well. What do you want?"
"We?" Roan snorted. "We don’t want anything from you. We are just curious. What is this power of yours? Could it be your Elemental Affinity is related to those crystals? A Crystal Elemental Affinity, perhaps? What race are you from?"
"Those are secret information," Wisfreya answered. "I’m sorry, but I’m not allowed to tell you about it. Even if I wanted to, the seal in my memories would prevent me from doing that."
"Seal?" Rean was surprised to hear that. He quickly sent his senses into her head, and there, he saw the seal of their so beloved Soul Binding Contract. "You’re a slave?"
"Slave, uh..." Wisfreya sighed. "That’s not entirely correct. It’s more of a mutual benefit agreement."
Rean looked at Roan, who shook his head. They obviously had the power to get rid of the contract, but doing so would alert the person who held the other end of it. That is not something they should be able to do with their cultivations.
Meanwhile, outside, something quite weird was happening. Since Wisfreya’s feed was being altered, so was the feed from Rean and Roan. In everyone’s eyes, Rean, Roan, and Wisfreya were having a nice conversation. The twins were like the students, while Wisfreya was teaching them many things about cultivation... right there, in the middle of the event.
"What is this? A friendly gathering?"
"She should just get rid of them..."
"Come on, look at the difference in cultivation! They are also much younger than she is. She probably can’t force herself to end those two kids."
"Hmph! That’s naive!"
---
"Okay, that should be it, then," Rean let go of Wisfreya’s shoulder.
Roan did the same, not interested anymore. "I told you. This was a waste of time. Now the entire werdlem network saw our little trick here. A lot of the participants will be focusing on us later."
Rean and Roan actually knew that their live feed was altered, but they pretended they didn’t since they indeed shouldn’t know about it.
Seeing the twins flying to the Spire, Wisfreya finally felt the grasp over her body disappearing. She could now move and even attack the twins if she wanted to. However, she held back. She still didn’t know what the twins did, and besides, something else took precedence. "Stop right there!"
Rean and Roan turned their heads but didn’t stop. "If you want to talk, come find us later. Don’t forget we are in the middle of the second event. And look! Here come the next participants."
Wisfreya quickly looked in the direction the twins pointed out. Sure enough, at the exit of the maze, another two cultivators appeared, those two simple Core and Soul Fusion Realm kids. But then, she gritted her teeth. When she focused on the newcomers, the twins reached the tokens, grabbed one each, and disappeared from the labyrinth. Now it was too late to try anything.
The two kids that arrived, a Spirit and a Humanoid, noticed Wisfreya and quickly stepped back. They could tell she was much stronger than they were, and they even felt like running away.
Wisfreya narrowed her eyes for a moment, but she did nothing. The fight earlier only happened because those guys attacked her. Had it not been the case, Wisfreya would have simply left with the token. She felt no joy in killing unnecessarily. Following that, she grabbed one of the tokens, and she also disappeared.
All the participants received the information about the twins and Wisfreya’s exit.
---
Outside, Rean and Roan appeared, and just as they were about to go back to their own residences, where their backgrounds were staying, they were contacted.
’Little friends, we need to have a talk,’ said a man from the Verjansy Country.
Roan glanced at him, already aware of what it was about. In the Verjansy Country’s eyes, Rean and Roan would now go back to talk about what happened with their higher-ups. But, as they already know, what was transmitted outside and what really happened were two different things. It’s just that Rean and Roan are supposed to be oblivious to it. Once they talk to their superiors, the truth would come out, and that is not good for the Verjansy Country.
Rean and Roan looked at the man, nodding. "Oh, these clothes... You are from the Verjansy Government, aren’t you? Did we break any rules?"
The man shook his head. ’No, but please, let’s talk through Divine Sense. I have a request to make, and you two will gain a lot if you are willing to fulfill it.’
